Chapter 66
"I think I've seen way too many lovey-dovey moments between them today." Gian teased Susie with a smile.
"So, are you planning to stand guard outside during this meal?" Matt stared at Gian.
"Oh, boss, I was just joking. Are you really going to protect Susie over this?" Gian frowned at Matt.
"What else?" Matt raised an eyebrow at Gian.
Susie couldn't help but think of that boy from before.
The boy who spent her money while scheming to sell her off like a prostitute.
"Thank you, Matt." Susie suddenly got emotional.
Matt seemed a bit caught off guard and asked, "Are you thinking about something unhappy?"
Matt seemed to have an amazing ability, even though he hadn't known Susie for that long, he could magically guess what she was thinking with ease.
"No, I just feel really happy right now." Susie smiled at Matt in front of her.
"You'll be even happier in the future, I promise." Matt put his arm around Susie's waist, shamelessly sweet-talking her.
"Oh, boss, are you and Susie treating us all like we're invisible?" the men joked.
"If necessary, I wouldn't mind actually making you invisible," Matt said slowly.
Although she knew it was a joke, Susie's heart still felt warm.
Who would have thought that the ruthless mafia boss would one day become totally lovesick?
"Oh, I think after we finish this meal, we'd better leave quickly to give the boss and Miss Susie some alone time." Mark joked.
Nick chimed in, "If it weren't for Miss Susie insisting, I don't think the boss would have wanted to bring us along for lunch at all."
The group burst into laughter again.
Watching the men fool around, Matt didn't get angry, just watched quietly.
Now and then, he'd glance at Susie, checking on her mood.
Soon, the food was brought out.
There was steak, chicken, pasta...
Almost everything Susie loved to eat.
"Oh God, if this keeps up, I think I'm going to get fat soon."
Susie covered her round face and squealed at the food on the table.
"It's okay, if you eat too much, I'll work out with you," Matt quietly comforted her.
Susie pouted and questioned Matt, "Why are you different from what they say in movies? Shouldn't you be saying that you'll like me no matter how fat I get?"
Hearing Susie's words, Matt shook his head, "That's not it, my little wildcat."
He paused and continued, "It's precisely because I know you well enough that I can't let you get fatter and fatter, because I know that if you can't fit into pretty clothes, you'd be really upset."
"Oh." The men at the table started cheering.
They never expected the always-serious mafia boss to joke around like this.
"If that's the reason, then I guess I can accept it."
Susie rested her chin on her hand and smiled at Matt, like a shy girl who just fallen in love.
"Here you go," in the meantime, Matt had already thoughtfully cut up a plate of steak.
"Matt, I never thought you'd be such a gentleman," Susie took the steak and teased Matt with a smile.
Matt nodded, "I think there are many things about me you don't know yet."
"So when will I get to fully understand you?" Susie's finger slowly slid down from Matt's chest.
When it reached Matt's lower abdomen, it was finally caught by Matt's rough, large hand.
"It'll probably take quite a while," Matt's lips curved slightly.
Somehow, even though they were clearly saying flirty things, there was always a sense of dangerous tension.
"Alright, I'm looking forward to your surprises."
Susie's lips curved slightly, "No rush, after all, we have plenty of time."
"Oh, Matt, I think you forgot. At this table, besides your fiancée, there are also your single brothers," Sim couldn't help but complain.
"So, are you guys jealous?" Matt joked with the men.
Hearing Matt's words, the men all channeled their grief into appetite and cleaned their plates.
"If I said I wanted another plate, Matt, would you forgive my rudeness?"
Somme smiled and showed Matt his empty plate.
"Of course not!"
Matt raised his hand to call the waiter and generously ordered another steak for each of the men.
"Men are still growing, so it's normal for them to eat more," Susie quietly joked with Matt.
Matt nodded, "My little wildcat, I think you're right."
After the meal, everyone was stuffed.
"I think if you could delay work a bit and walk around this mall with me, I'd really appreciate it."
Susie blinked at Matt in front of her.
She guessed Matt would agree.
Given how much Matt doted on her, no matter what ridiculous request she made, Matt would satisfy it.
"I think I saw a new arcade opened on the third floor," Gian said.
"If Matt is willing to take a walk with Susie, I think we've found a new way to pass the time."
Video games have always been irresistibly attractive to men.
"I think we should split into two groups. We can't let our guard down even in the mall," Sim stopped them.
He still vividly remembered the last time Matt went missing.
He absolutely wouldn't allow that to happen again.
Following Sim's arrangement, everyone split into two groups.
The first group followed Susie and Matt, while the second group went to the arcade.
"I think I'm going to show you a surprise." Matt said quietly to Susie.
"In this mall?" Susie asked curiously.
"Yes." Matt held Susie's hand and walked toward the east side of the floor.
"I think you should go to the restroom now."
Although Susie didn't know what the surprise had to do with the restroom, she still cooperatively followed Matt to the restroom.
