Chapter 30 This has to stop!
Grace
I woke up with a seeet smile lining my cheeks. I had just been with Theo in my dream and it was all love and romance. We were both loved up and I didn’t want it to end. I actually thought it wasn’t going to end until I opened my eyes and saw I was back to reality.
It still felt so amazing as I replayed the dream over and over again. It was after about ten times that I finally looked beside me and saw the bed was empty.
Matt didn’t come home and I wasn’t bothered at all. If anything, I was so excited. Atleast, I could just get up now and sneak into my man’s room.
“I better do that then!” I muttered under my breath as I jumped out of bed.
“Where are you going?” Matt’s voice suddenly rang behind me, causing me to freeze in shock.
I turned slowly and he was standing at the closet entrance, buttoning his shirt. He actually came home and was already preparing to leave for work.
I immediately became weak and my excitement turned sour, as I was already looking forward to getting some early morning kisses and hugs from Theo.
“Nowhere, just downstairs. Your mom and I have some stuff to sort out about the wedding. We couldn’t finish up yesterday. I didn’t even know you came back last night. Thought you were busy at work and decided to stay back.” I explained while he looked at me and then away.
“That’s okay, I had some things to sort out and it took a while. By the time I got back, you were already sleeping and I didn’t want to wake you.” He replied and I nodded.
“I need to leave now,” he added and then grabbed his things before walking past me.
I rolled my eyes and then waited for a while before going back to my plan. I carefully made my way to Theo’s room and gently entered.
“Sleepy sleepy…” I teased but I looked up just then and saw Evelyn standing close to the bed.
I froze again and this time, I was so scared out of my mind as I quickly thought of an excuse. I mean, what could I possible tell her I was doing in my brother inlaw’s room so early in the morning. And the fact that I even used a sweet romantic voice made it worse. She’s never going to believe me and if it were just me, I wouldn’t be bothered but I can’t drag Theo along with me.
“Ohh Grace, you’re up early. If you’re here to ask about what you told me, I’m sorry but it’s not yet ready. I haven’t had the time to work on it.” Theo suddenly let out while I looked at him confused as I didn’t understand what he was talking about. Evelyn looked just as confused as me and we both looked at him to explain.
“What are you two planning?” Evelyn asked while he cleared his throat.
“I’m not supposed to tell you but I know you won’t say a word. Grace actually asked me to help suggest some gifts she can give to Matt and I promised to think about it.” He explained and that was when I got the picture. He was actually covering up for us.
“Ohh wow, that’s so thoughtful of you, sweetheart. You could have asked me too, you know. I have some ideas for you.” She chimed in while I smiled.
“I know right, but you’re already busy with the wedding plans so I didn’t want to stress you any further. And besides, I felt a man will know better and they’re brothers too so he’d know better.” I retorted while she nodded.
“That’s true. I love that, I just don’t like how you’re so keen about it that you got up so early to ask about it. Your wedding is so close already, you should be getting all the rest you can get and not stressing yourself. I want this to be the wedding of your dreams so stop dressing.” She replied and then moved closer to me.
She checked my face thoroughly before grabbing my hand and leading the way outside. I didn’t resist or say a word, I just followed her without question. I had managed to escape from getting caught and I’m not about to complicate things.
“Let’s eat breakfast together. I already called Helen this morning and we agreed on meeting by nine this morning. That’s about two hours from now so we better get ready so we can get things running on time.” Evelyn explained while I just kept nodding all through.
I have no interest in the meeting whatever and I could already tell it would be boring as heck but I can’t complain.
The chef served our breakfast and we both ate while still talking about the wedding. I was just so tired of it all and had to rush my good so I could get away from her.
“I better get freshened up so I don’t delay the planner.” I chimed in as I stood to my feet.
I didn’t let her reply before I hurried off. I got back to the room just in time for my phone to beep. It was a text message from Theo and a smile lined my face instantly. But the moment I read the words, the smiled vanished.
I turned blank as I read the text again, wondering if my brain was processing the right words.
“We can’t do this anymore, Grace. This has to stop!”
