Chapter 538 The Wedding

Chapter 538 The Wedding

His body was trembling vigorously with every step he took. As he could no longer support his body, he collapsed.

When he regained his consciousness, he heard a familiar voice.

"Shel," he called out feebly, his eyelids slowly fluttering open.

He then realized he was locked in a small space.

Seth gradually stood up, pressing on the spot where he was hit. "Ouch!" he gasped in pain.

"Shel is not here? I clearly heard her," he muttered. "Where am I?" His expression darkened as he surveyed the space cautiously.

Noticing a small window, he walked toward it and pushed it open.

Before he had the time to make out his whereabouts, he heard Shelby's painful scream. "I'll explain! I'll confess everything! I... I didn't plan to come into the manor. I was merely taking a stroll outside."

Declan scoffed, "Stroll? You came back alive and sauntered here? Shelby York, are you kidding me right now?"

Shelby was still injured, and being surrounded by so many bodyguards had freaked her out. "It wasn't me. I-It's Seth, the psycho!" she lied. "He forced me to come here! It wasn't easy for me to survive. Of course, I'll stay away from you!"

She paused and continued in haste, "It's Seth who coerced me to do this. He wants to defeat you, Declan!"

Shelby was kneeling in front of Declan in the basement. With her arms raised, she attempted to grab his sleeve.

Declan couldn't even be bothered to spare her a glance. Listening to her voice alone disgusted him enough, let alone her touch.

He instinctively took a step back and shot a cold glance to his subordinates.

After a short while, his subordinates brought Seth out and kicked him, causing him to fall in front of Declan.

Seth blanched, his lips trembling.

His eyes were fixed on Shelby instead of Declan.

"You... What did you say just now? Shel, what did you say?" He could not believe what he had just heard.

Shelby's eyes widened in shock.

"I-I..." she stammered.

Seth gasped heavily, "I knew it. You lied to me! You never wanted to kill Declan. You

were planning not to show up the next day, so I'll assume he killed you. That way, I'll avenge you. Is that right?"

He could not help but guffaw.

Only then did he realize that there was only a fine line between heaven and hell.

"Shelby York!" Seth's eyes flashed with a murderous glint. He then lunged toward her ferociously. "You fucking bitch!"

He was not a nice guy after all. Since Shelby looked down and even trampled on his sincerity, he no longer needed to lower himself for her anymore.

He slapped her on the face.

As Shelby had undergone plastic surgery, his one tight slap caused her nose to turn crooked. At that instant, Shelby could feel the flames of fury roaring within her. She gritted her teeth and bellowed, "You lapdog! How dare you slap me!"

She then began to retaliate.

All of a sudden, the two were fighting each other instead.

Declan snorted. Right before he left, he reminded his subordinates, "Keep an eye on them. Wait until they stop fighting, then send them to the police station. They should stay in prison for the rest of their lives."

"Yes!"

"Oh, before I forget, remember to arrange them in the same cell." Declan was merciless. He wanted the miserable couple to entangle each other forever.

He stared forward as he exited the basement.

...

Then, Declan saw Freya drawing in the parterre.

The golden sun rays shining on her made her seem exceptionally gentle.

Declan strode toward her.

All his bad mood caused by Shelby and Seth had swept away as soon as he saw Freya.

Freya was completely focused on her design. She did not notice Declan's arrival until he asked, "Is this your wedding dress?" She placed a hand against her chest and gasped. "You scared me!"

He gave her a soothing kiss on her cheek before turning his attention back to Freya's design. "Wedding dress?" he repeated.

"Yes, yes!" Her smile widened, blushing shyly. "Aren't we about to hold our wedding ceremony soon? I wanted to design my own wedding dress and your suit!" she said proudly. "But, I can't show it to you now!"

Declan's heart was filled with warmth.

Three months later, at the Southcastle Manor.

It was finally the day of their wedding ceremony.

As the marriage proposal had been extremely grand and luxurious, Freya decided to hold a low-profile ceremony instead. All the guests were mainly their close relatives and friends.

For instance, Liam, Eva, Layla, Nessie, Landen, Lucas, Gina, Chase, Annabelle, Sheldon, and some of Declan's business partners and Freya's colleagues.

Of course, there were also people hiding secretly outside the manor, carefully peeping. It was Leo.

Nancy hid even better.

Even though she regretted her treatment of Declan, it was meaningless.

Their relationship was no longer salvageable.

Early summer, all the flowers in the manor were blooming. Scorching orange, pure white, and molten-red flowers peeped through the pea-green grass. The scenery was fascinating.

However, to Declan, none of those could compare to Freya.

She was the only one who could captivate him.

Declan was dressed in a tuxedo designed by Freya, standing bolt upright at the very end of the red carpet, waiting for Freya's arrival.

At twelve o'clock sharp, Freya slowly walked toward him as the soft music began to play.

As she had designed her own wedding dress, it managed to conceal her pregnant belly. With her tall stature and prominent features, she was a sight to behold.

The moment Declan saw her appearance, he couldn't look away.

Freya, too, was staring at him unblinkingly, mesmerized by his good looks.

Trailing behind Freya were four little kids--Hope, Aaron, Nessie, and Aiden. They were lifting the train of Freya's gown.

All the attention was on Freya as she walked down the aisle.

Even though the distance between them was only a few steps apart, Declan had never felt so far away from her. He was impatiently waiting for her to reach him.

Finally, he could no longer stand it and made his way toward her, taking her hand in his as he led her.

Freya smiled in amusement.

Liam then called out, "You're kind of embarrassing, Declan Castle!"

Declan squinted at him. "Weren't you the same when you got married?"

Liam wisely kept his mouth shut.

Everyone chuckled.

Soon, the priest's dignified and mellow voice sounded.

"Mr. Declan Castle, do you take Ms. Freya Myers as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"

"I do," he answered sincerely, his eyes full of affection and gentleness.

Freya's eyes welled up with tears as her heart pounded in her chest.

Right then, the priest turned toward Freya.
