Chapter 537 Let's Be Together, Seth

"Please help me. Please make Freya disappear. Please," she pleaded.

She looked up with a pitiful face, her eyes brimming with tears. "If Freya's gone, Declan will come back to me. Then, everyone will be envious of me!"

Seth felt a trace of bitterness in his heart. It was like all of his strength had been drawn out of him.

"Shel," he said, clutching onto her arms. "Do you really think that's possible?"

"Why are you saying that? W-What do you mean?" Shelby wanted to cover her ears again and escape from reality.

Seth caught her wrists before she could do so.

He said in a hoarse voice, "It's impossible. I can't make Freya disappear. Shel, you've got to face the truth. Look at how powerful Xavier was. Yet, he was still crushed by Declan and Freya. Not to mention that Landen and Declan had reconciled with each other. And that coward, Wilson, is friends with Declan's little bastard. How can we go against Declan in our current state? Then again, would Declan really choose you if Freya's gone?" He sneered and continued, "That's impossible. He was planning to kill you the last time."

"No! That's not true! I'm not listening! I'm not listening!" Shelby yelled.

Seth was thoroughly drained.

He persisted, "Shel, this is an obsession. In fact, your feelings for him have long faded. To some extent, you even hate him. You're just triggered by the huge proposal he planned for Freya."

He exposed the cold, hard truth to Shelby. "Shel, you're... You're too vain."

Hearing Seth's words, Shelby froze.

She never imagined that a lapdog like Seth would dare humiliate her.

She lowered her head and bit down on her lower lip. At that moment, all her hatred was directed at Seth.

However, she did not show it and began to cry hysterically.

"Shel, don't cry." Seth was completely flustered. "I was wrong; I'll keep my mouth shut from here on. Please stop crying. No matter what kind of person you are, I'll always love you. Forget about Declan and be with me. I'll be good to you. We'll move to a different place, and I'll find a job to take care of you," he said from the bottom of his heart.

"Seth..." Shelby cried in his embrace. All of a sudden, she kissed Seth on the lips.

Seth's eyes widened.

He pushed her away and said, "Shel, you--"

"Seth, you're absolutely right. Your scolding made me realize that I was too vain. What you said was true. I don't have any more feelings for Declan, but I... I was indeed vain and envious of all the attention Freya was getting. I was wrong. I'll forget about them," said Shelby.

Raising her head, her eyes met Seth's. "Let's... Let's be together, Seth."

...

Shelby blushed and said shyly, "I really like the life you described."

Seth stared unblinkingly at Shelby, trying to make out any pretense on her expression.

However, all he saw was her sincerity.

He was so thrilled that he was at a loss for words.

When Shelby kissed him again, Seth did not hold back.

He kissed the woman he loved unbridledly, carrying her toward the bed. Then, he climbed above her.

"Shel, may I?"

"Yes..."

Seth no longer restrained himself, and they had sex that night.

When they were done, he held her in his arms and slipped into a restful sleep.

What he didn't know was that Shelby didn't sleep a wink.

Her eyes were cold as she glared at the look of contentment on his sleeping face.

"What a fool," she sneered quietly under her breath.

She rolled her eyes.

The only reason she gave herself to Seth was simple. She knew that as long as she gave him a tiny reward, that empty-headed fool would do anything for her--even if it involved taking someone's life.

She silently slipped out of Seth's embrace and left the room.

When Seth woke up happily the next day, he found no sight of Shelby.

"Shel?" he called out, but no one responded. "Shel!"

He quickly pulled out his phone and noticed a text message on it.

It was from Shelby.

want him dead. I won't allow him to live blissfully with Freya. I love you, Seth. Please wait for my return. However, if I don't make it back tonight, you should forget about me.>

Seth's phone fell on the floor with a thud.

He grabbed his coat and rushed out, but the door was locked from outside.

He hurriedly dialed Shelby's number, but she wasn't picking up nor replying to his text messages.

He was devastated. Right as he had finally won Shelby's heart, he would soon lose it again.

Seth was filled with regret.

Desperate to leave, he began to kick the door over and over again. It took ages before he finally kicked it down and made his way out.

He then drove erratically to Southcastle Manor.

No longer bothered to care about anything else, he floored his car and charged straight through the gates.

Surprisingly, nobody came out to stop him.

He quickly exited the car.

At that moment, a thick pole struck his nape mercilessly.

Instantly, Seth's vision turned blurry and began to fade to black.
