Chapter 52

Chapter 52
Third POV

Sylvia didn't return to the cabin that night but shifted, racing to Verizon Forest where her colleagues had their regional meeting. Werewitches had a different lifestyle, they mingled more with witches than werewolves. Their blood is more inclined to witches than normal werewolves.

The distance was one that could take a normal werewolf three hours to arrive but she did arrive in barely an hour, her hybrid ability was in power. Her wolf, looking more creepy with reddened eyes, was more agile, three times faster than a normal werewolf that has golden eyes and a more chubby, hairy appearance.

She arrived at the center of the forest, where her fellow witches had a meeting, they sat in a round circle, lit candles of purple and white flames radiating in the circle created by them.

She quietly joined in the incantations. She had already excused herself to arrive late, least she would serve some punishment despite being a high ranking witch.

She was barely able to focus in the incantation, almost drifting away from time to time if not for her bestfriend, Lily, a pure witch who sat close to get always pinching and shifting her back upon sensing a shift in energy.

“If there's anything bothering you, you can speak to me after now.” Lily had mindlinked.

It was prohibited to utter another word while incantation was going on, the only thing she could do was this. As normal for witches, they could mindlink as well, just like werewolves.

“Okay, I will.” Sylvia uttered still within her.

She heaved a sigh of relief, as she knew there was someone who had her interest at heart. Not having friends outside, she had finally found solace here.

She forced herself to focus. At 3:10 AM on the dot, the ritual came to an end and the witches retired to their community, Sylvia accompanied Lily to her apartment.

“I'll be staying at your side till tomorrow.” She uttered as she was being led along the narrow bush track in the forest which led to the witches’ quarters, a small community in the outskirts of Sowfield Pack. They had their own life there except those like Sylvia who could come out to relate with werewolves.

Lily and Sylvia arrived at the same apartment they were going to spend the night together. It was late, Lily fell on her bed, laying to watch her best friend who sat by the edge of it, head bowed low.

She rose up, patting her on the shoulder. “What's wrong? What's the real problem?”

Sylvia sighed. “Hmm.” She moaned. “It's the man I love, I can't just get him all to myself, it seems that girl is winning his heart.” She sniffed, a tear dropping from her eyes.

“Why are you do obsessed with that werewolf guy and I heard he's a priest?” Lily asked.

She nodded. “Yes, he is.”

“I have to force him to be my partner, this way I can seal the secret of what they did to Rhys forever.” She was so bent on this, her main goal, the reason her heart was so troubled.

“Why do you have to seal the secret? What happens if another woman gets to be his mate? Can't the secret still be sealed?” The over-curious Lily asked. Not being from Helves Pack, she barely knew about the history as Sylvia never talked about her pack affairs but personal issues to her.

She was a little bit confused.

“You know everything went a bit distorted when Roman turned a werepriest. First he was stolen at birth, the one that would have taken over from our current Alpha had to adhere to our wish.”

“What do you mean by that?”

Sylvia breathed, forcing herself to keep replying to her bestfriend, she tried not to get pissed, she came here to be consoled not to answer questions.

“That's why I don't really like talking about my pack affairs,” she muttered to herself.

She veiled Lily from hearing.

“Helves Pack got into a covenant with the werewitches over there so many years back that Alpha and Luna could not conceive.”

Lily nodded, taking note.

“The covenant was to give them two babies, a twin, to which one will be sacrificed back to us in his later years. As we had it, the lot fell on the eldest, the one who wouldn't follow our custom on how to rule the pack because he woke be too righteous.” She kept on explaining to Lily.

“So the younger one would have aligned with us?”

“Exactly,” Sylvia nodded.

“Why everything is distorted, the one who we had hope on turned out to be a werepriest. If I can make him my mate, then I'll corrupt his mind to stand with us.”

“Oohh–oohh. I get.” Lily uttered. “So what's the way forward now?”

Sylvia sighed, shaking her head. “I don't just know. I was thinking our power is everything in the world.”

Lily’s head sunk low. “If a werewitch is saying this, what about a pure witch like me?” She also had a guy she was interested in, a guy she wanted as her mate, the one to upgrade her into a werewitch.

She sighed again, draping her hand over Sylvia’s neck. “Maybe you should rest, tomorrow we will deliberate more on this matter.”

“Why?” Sylvia asked. “Tomorrow we're having our rehearsal as early as 4-5 AM but I'll be there with them by 6AM.”

She grumbled, wanting a sudden response from Lily.

“Can't you just tell me what to do?” She grumbled, hitting her laps. Lily grabbed her hand, trying to pull away.

“Ahhh–”

“Stoppp.” She groaned. “Perhaps he hates your personality as a werewitch and wants you to be a–”

Her words morphed into a soft sigh, resigned and about drifting into sleep. Sylvia slapped her thighs again.

“Just tell me something.”

“Tell me what to do.”

“I guess maybe you should just restraint your witchcraft powers and chase him as a normal girl.”

Lily drifted to sleep without waiting for Sylvia’s response. Frustrate and depressed, she dropped on the bed beside her bestie, thinking of what she just said.

It hit her.

This could be true.

“Perhaps this is just the kind of girl he wants, a normal girl.” She kept nodding, making up her mind already.

She wished tomorrow would just come.

“I'll pull up with a new identity.”

“I won't rest until I get him.” She swore, beating her chest.
