Chapter 120 120
Amy's POV
They were all still looking at Damien, and I hated it immediately. I banged my hand on the table, standing up to get their attention. My dad, who hasn't said anything to me since, turned to look at me. He gave me a signal to stop, but I didn't listen to him. How can I stop when this injustice is going on?
“What the hell do you all mean by that? Why are you looking at him?” I fired at them all angrily. I just couldn't take it at all.
Damien pulled me back to sit down, trying to calm me down. “Don't get yourself worked up over them. You should think about the baby and your health. I will deal with this.”
This is all bullshit. I hate that I'm here at all. They were getting attacked, and the first person they had to look at was Damien. Why are they always trying to blame you for their own mistakes? Imagine being the victim and watching the culprit try to play the victim when they've hurt someone else.
“I'm sorry,” I snapped at Damien. “I just don't take the hypocrisy at all.”
All these years they were ganging up against him. Now that I experienced it firsthand, I didn't know how I felt at all. I feel so sad for him. How did he manage to endure these accusations all these years, especially when he was just a child?
A bunch of senile old men, ganging up on a child that was younger than them and helpless, who lost all his family, a child that needed someone to love and support him, with heavy responsibility on his shoulders, yet they could only think of framing him for their own mistakes and making him suffer as the scapegoat. I can't forgive them at all.
“Alpha Damien, I think you shouldn't have brought her here. We didn't complain because we respected your choice as she was your future Luna. But this isn't a place for her to make accusations. We didn't even say anything, and she's already blaming us for things we didn't do.”
Damien looked at the one who said it. “I don't think you have any right to comment on my Luna at all. Mind your fucking business, and don't you dare talk about her again.”
Of course they are going to find me annoying because they don't want to hear the truth. “We haven't come looking for you, and you dropped yourself right through our doorsteps. You all think Damien attacked your pack, didn't you?” I asked them.
They all looked at each other without saying anything. I tried to follow their faces, and I identified a few ones who looked scared while some didn't look bothered at all. I could tell that those who didn't look bothered were either part of them and pretending not to be bothered or were not part of them at all.
From my experience, the ones who are pretending not to be bothered could either also have no direct evidence against them, so they don't fear Damien's retaliation against them. However, these ones who are scared are the ones who I should go after first. How could they do this to him?
No wonder he became the devil that everyone was scared of. They are the ones who turned him into that. He was just a perfect young person who wanted to live.
I stood up again, refusing to back down. “You all called for a meeting, but you're not saying the right thing yet. You got attacked, yet some other people don't know about it.”
“I'm afraid you didn't get attacked, but attacked other people, right? And now you're trying to turn the table so that you don't get retaliation back. Do you think we are stupid or what?”
I could hear gasps from everyone else as I said it.
My dad moved to my side, even though he was respecting his alpha and refusing to talk to me earlier. He moved and stopped me from saying any more.
“That's enough, Amelia. Let Damien handle this. I'm telling you, he knows how to handle things like this. And this time around, I'm not against him getting his revenge.”
I nodded. “I know, Dad. I just need to tell them a piece of my mind before I stop. They all hurt Damien, never apologized to him, and they still attacked him, thinking he was stupid enough not to trace it back to them.”
Damien pulled me back. Even though I refused to sit down, I still ended up sitting down anyway, because I didn't want to embarrass him. I guess he didn't want me talking about it too much, because those pasts were embarrassing to him.
“Don't worry, Amelia. Let me see what I want to tell them now,” he said, making me stop. I decided to see what he was going to say.
He stood up, facing everyone. “I actually came to this meeting today to announce to you all that I will be starting a war with every single pack that decided to attack me. I lost a lot of my people, and I, Damien, always pay back whoever hurts me.”
“This is a formal announcement for you all to prepare because I will be destroying every single one of you. I'm not even making this up. You all know I know how to retaliate, but in ten folds you should prepare yourselves.”
Someone who I think wasn't part of them spoke to Damien. “Alpha Damien, why don't you calm down a little bit? Let's not be cruel about this.”
“Don't call me cruel when I'm beginning my own. I'm going to leave here now. I'll be waiting for whatever you have next in line. It was stupid of me to let my guard down and even protect some of you in the past,” Damien replied to them.
Alpha Orland agreed. “Whoever started this should take responsibility for it. I don't think this is cool. If you knew how to attack other people, you should expect retaliation. It's a simple principle.”
“You don't expect that you won't get retaliation when you hurt other people, even though I don't know who you all are talking about, but I'm guessing you know yourselves, right? Alpha Damien, I have nothing to do with this. I hope you understand.” Alpha Orland immediately distanced himself from them.
I think coming to this meeting was a waste of time. But thinking of how I was able to give them a piece of my mind, it wasn't a waste of time after all. Maybe they didn't respond to me much because they were scared of Damien. But thinking of how they wouldn't be able to respond to him for a long time, I guess I can't just let it go for today. They were planning to make it seem like they also got attacked, even though they knew Damien wasn't a stupid person. Their attempt failed anyway.
“Amelia, what are you doing here?” I heard a voice that I felt so annoyed to hear. It was Brian. I thought he didn't come with his father and it was just my dad who came with him. But now he was standing there calling my name and making it seem like we are close.
Even after seeing that Damien was clearly beside me, what the hell is Brian planning to do this time around? What exactly does he want from me? I looked at Damien, and I could see him clenching his fists. He's getting angry now, and I don't want him to cause a scene here. He wouldn't be able to get out of this trap after all.
I grabbed Damien immediately. “Let's go. I don't want to stay here anymore. I think all sorts of bugs are trying to get close to me. It's annoying.”
I could see the look in his eyes change as he released his hands and smiled at me.
“Of course, I'll take you. Come on, let's go,” he said, getting up and glaring at Brian, who he pushed out of the way.
He stopped beside Brian and looked at him. “Don't you ever call my Luna by that name anymore. Alpha Orland, you should warn your son. I won't be this lenient next time.”
