Chapter 30: On Stage with Hillary

After Lilian's big reveal, Rainer Entertainment and Hillary faced the harshest criticism in history. This was the biggest crisis Brent had ever experienced since founding Rainer Entertainment, so his disgust and hatred towards Lilian were not just thoughts in his mind.

The company immediately held an emergency meeting, and Brent even sought help from his sister Elizabeth Hart who was abroad.

"Brent, I've seen the news. Lilian has solid evidence against you. You didn't hide it well enough and gave people a handle to grab onto. But don't let your lower body desires cloud your judgment. You need to understand the situation. You are the master of the company; Lilian may have high popularity but she is only a model whose fate is in your hands."

"So what should I do now?" Brent was already dizzy from dealing with Lilian and Hillary.

"Firstly, issue a sincere apology through public relations statements stating that you will give Lilian due respect and treatment in future to appease angry netizens; secondly, promote Lilian."

"But...Hillary won't agree," said Brent with a headache.

"I'm not asking you to give up on Hillary. I happen to have an overseas magazine at hand that needs two models for their shoot - arrange for both Lilian and Hillary to participate together as proof that their relationship isn't as bad as outsiders imagine it to be. Moreover, if they work together successfully then this collaboration will generate high publicity which would benefit Hillary's chances of becoming one of top ten models of the year too! Use Lillian's popularity wisely during this crisis period - remember crises can also be opportunities - Rainer Entertainment's reputation will definitely rise!"

Brent listened carefully to Elizabeth’s advice before suddenly realizing something: "Sis, I understand now."

"Lilian has been with you for so many years, and suddenly there are so many actions. You must have gone too far. I don't mind if you cheat in the entertainment industry - there aren't many clean people here anyway - but why did you let Lilian find out? If it weren’t for the fact that you're my brother or because Hillary is carrying your child, I would have left you to fend for yourself." Elizabeth scolded him harshly before continuing: "This time, let them work together on stage and sharpen each other's edges. Hillary is only acting arrogantly because of your attitude towards her."

"Sis...she's pregnant with my child; I'm afraid she'll be stressed," Brent said.

"Also, Sarah can undergo kidney transplant surgery soon. Previously only Lilian was a perfect match; now that this has happened will she still agree to donate one of her kidneys to save our Sarah?"

Brent froze momentarily as he almost forgot about this matter. The Han family had three children: Elizabeth who was a famous gold medal broker in the industry but later got poached by a well-known foreign company and stayed in America for three years; Brent who was brought into the entertainment circle by Elizabeth herself; and Sarah Hart who suffered from poor kidney health due to her young age which required long-term hospital treatment.

"Sis, no matter what happens between me and Lilian, since she promised to save Sarah then I won't let her regret it," Brent replied firmly.

Elizabeth hummed twice before hanging up the phone feeling both angry and helpless towards her younger brother.

Subsequently, Brent immediately instructed his team to issue a press release admitting mistreatment of Lilian while promising sincere change going forward along with increased care for Lilian as well as giving fans another chance at Rainer Entertainment.

At the same time, Rainer Entertainment announced that they received an invitation from overseas magazine Secret inviting both Lilian and Hillary together for a photoshoot.

This news caused another uproar. As Elizabeth had predicted, the two were obvious enemies who competed for the same man and had a competitive relationship. But Brent actually put both models together?

Oh my god...

Although Lilian's popularity had somewhat recovered, she was still Hillary's substitute after all...

Although Hillary has had an easy time, she still hasn't been able to become a true A-lister...

The fans on both sides immediately started arguing again, causing a wave of insults. Is Lilian more professional or is Hillary more eye-catching?

The entertainment industry is such a place where the focus can shift at any moment. Of course, Lilian's goal was originally to break free from Rainer Entertainment's behind-the-scenes manipulation and put herself in the spotlight so that Hillary couldn't interfere. Now that Brent has put her in the same position as Hillary, her goal has been achieved.

"Lilian, will you take this magazine?" Elena asked Lilian over the phone. With Brent showing such importance towards Lilian by arranging for her to be featured in foreign magazines, if Lilian refused it would make her seem petty. "Although Brent didn't even ask for your opinion, if you have other thoughts we can figure something out."

"Sure!" Lilian replied crisply with just one word.

"Ok, I understand. It just happens to be alongside Hillary so everyone can see clearly that she's only there as background decoration!" Elena responded before adding: "We'll discuss it at tomorrow morning's meeting and I'll pick up Sylvia first thing then come get you."

"Okay." Lilian nodded; Elena was finally getting into gear.

Lilian hung up the phone and continued playing chef in the kitchen despite Kevin forbidding it but...she never felt like she was too delicate to cook for her husband - it was only natural!

When Kevin came home and saw his busy wife working away in the kitchen he walked up behind her and scooped her up onto his arms placing her on top of their kitchen counter while holding onto both of her arms tightly: "Do you know what will happen when you don't listen to me?"

Lilian hooked Kevin's neck with hers while shaking both legs playfully: "Are you going to 'eat' me?"

"You're asking for it..." Kevin commented before picking her up and carrying her into the living room, placing her on the sofa. "Today is your comeback day so leave cooking to me."

Lilian nodded with a tilt of her head then took off her apron and put it on Kevin.

Kevin was tall and had a sturdy build, especially when he wore his shirt - the soft fabric hugged his chest revealing his abs which Lilian couldn't help but stare at.

The man's elegance was like that of a painting; Lilian covered her heart as she returned to their bedroom only to find a bouquet of red roses placed on their king-sized bed.

Lilian picked them up in surprise and leaned in closer for a sniff but found there was also a small package tucked inside. Should she acknowledge its existence or pretend not to have seen anything? Was Kevin planning on having sex with her tonight?
