I felt that Alpha Jayden should have made excuses, right? How could he just apologize like that? How could someone admit their mistakes so easily when I was sure there were many ways for Jayden to make excuses to me, but why didn't he do that?
"Don't be silent, Erica. Just say what you want to say, and I'll do it. I promised to make you comfortable as long as you're by my side, let me do everything right." Jayden looked at me gently, and for the first time in my life, there was a man whose words I could fully trust.
“Are you serious, Alpha? How can you not defend yourself? Isn't it true that when a man is blamed, his ego is hurt and he will make up all kinds of explanations just to make himself look good?” I asked honestly because I couldn't help myself from wanting to know what was really going on in Alpha Jayden's head.
Hearing my question, Alpha Jayden didn't get angry at all. Instead, he chuckled amusedly while looking at me with his affectionate gaze, making me even more confused.
“Alpha, why are you laughing? There's nothing funny here!” I said with a slightly annoyed tone. For some reason, Jayden's gaze made my face feel hot, and of course, I was sure that my face was now red because how could a girl act normal when she was being stared at like that by a young Alpha like Jayden?
“You're the one who's funny, Erica,” said Jayden, and his hand suddenly ruffled my hair. I realized that it was only my hair that was messy, but why did I also feel that my heart was messy too?

“Alpha, are you sure? I heard that girl is one of the elders' children, so she can do anything that might harm you because of her jealousy towards me,” I said honestly because seeing Jayden's increased protection of me made me realize that I couldn't just stand by and do nothing. I had to at least do what I could to guard and protect Jayden from people who wanted to destroy such a good man.
Jayden smiled slightly, his gaze still soft towards me, making me finally turn my face away from his gaze because I realized that Jayden's gaze was mesmerizing me.
"You don't need to worry, Erica. Noel is indeed very annoying, but don't worry because she is only the adopted child of the elders. She can't do whatever she wants, and I've wanted to get rid of her for a long time because she's too annoying. So you don't need to worry that I'll be harmed by a woman like her because with you here, it's enough for me to keep that annoying woman at a distance. And as you said, there will be many butterflies wanting to come to me today, so can you take care of yourself and help me get rid of those very annoying butterflies?" Jayden looked at me with a hopeful gaze.
That look made me nod my head immediately because I couldn't bear to think about how difficult it had been for Jayden to figure out a way to get rid of all those annoying people.
“Okay, Alpha, let's consider this the first task I can do as your companion, but before doing all that, at least you have to give me protection, right?
