Chapter 32

Chapter 32
No matter how many times I opened my eyes, all I could see was Erica's suffering. Why had I been so blind all this time? Had I been a cruel wolf with no heart? Even though Erica had always done her best for me?

No! I shouldn't think that way. What I saw must have been an illusion, right? That's right! All of this is just an illusion, and it's impossible for them to be that cruel to Erica, considering that she has been acting as Luna here, so it's impossible for Luna to be treated that cruelly, even if she is only the substitute Luna, right?

I don't know, I'm really trying to justify my own thoughts, even though I can no longer ignore what I see.

However, just before I tried to pull Erica in front of me, the place suddenly turned gloomy.

“Is that you, Sky?” I asked, looking at a brown wolf, which I had given a special name to.

“Yes, it's me. Are you still in denial about everything, Richard?” asked my wolf in a cold tone.

Seeing my wolf's cruel attitude, I now realized that what I saw was actually the result of manipulation by that annoying wolf, and I shouldn't be saddened by the illusion created by my wolf.

"Come on, Sky, why are you doing all this to me? Do you want me to be tormented by guilt? You know I'm not that cruel to her, and is it really that hard for you to accept Hazel?" I asked directly, with a slightly disappointed tone, because from the beginning, my wolf had never liked Hazel, ever since Hazel left us, even though before that, compared to me, Skylah was the one who was more hurt by Hazel's departure from our lives.

My question made the mighty wolf in front of me stare at me sharply. "What nonsense are you talking about, Richard? Are you still not aware? Wake up, what you are seeing right now are fragments of our own memories! So don't deny it. I really don't like that hypocritical woman, and are you still unaware that even now, she has never cared about you?"

My wolf's answer made me laugh bitterly. “What memories are you talking about, Sky? I'm not a stupid Alpha! I realize that what I just saw was just a manipulation of memories that you gave me, right? No one treats Erica that badly, and I also remember that all this time I've always tried to give Erica the best!” I replied firmly, defending myself because I did admit that I was very cold towards that woman.

But my cold attitude was not without reason. I only did all that so that Erica could realize her own identity. Not only did I want Erica to realize her place, I also wanted to prevent her from becoming arrogant because I knew that a woman like her would surely forget her roots if she was treated spoiled, and I just didn't want that woman to be ruined. So where was my mistake?

“You're so hypocritical, Richard. Try to tell me when you ever did anything good for her?” Sky looked at me with such disappointment that I felt like my wolf was being ridiculous. An Alpha like us shouldn't act like that, and it seemed like Sky still couldn't accept that Hazel had truly taken her place and that someone who shouldn't have was replacing her.

But I felt that what Hazel did was not wrong. She was just taking the place she deserved, and Erica should have left when Hazel, our true owner, returned.

“You're just hurt by her departure, Sky,” I tried to persuade my wolf because I couldn't stay in my memories with her for long. “Don't you remember that I used to bring her food and clothes when I had finished our mission outside the city? If I wasn't good to her, then why would I have done all that?” I continued to defend myself because I remembered that I did give Erica nice things, and shouldn't she have been very grateful for what I always gave her? So I shouldn't owe her anything anymore, right?

Unfortunately, instead of getting an affirmative answer from my wolf, I got a sneer that surprised me a little.

“What are you talking about, Richard? Have you forgotten that while Erica was your Moon, you rarely met with other Alphas outside the country or outside the city? And if you mean the shabby clothes and sad food you bought for her because you remembered that Hazel liked them, then congratulations, because do you know that what you gave that woman would only kill her?”

“What do you mean, Sky? At least what I gave her was the best stuff!” I tried to evade the question because I did remember that I had bought those things unintentionally when I remembered Hazel and imagined that my woman would be very happy with all of them.

"You're just avoiding the truth, Richard! What you gave her is just trash to Erica, and don't you realize that what you gave her was just to mock her? Remember, Richard, that Erica doesn't usually wear pink, but you gave her pink clothes even though pink is Hazel's favorite color, not Erica's. Don't you remember anything about what she likes?"

Sky's answer defeated me because I really didn't know what Erica liked.

“But didn't I also give her delicious food? Isn't that enough, and shouldn't every girl like pink?” I replied again, trying to defend myself.

“What delicious food are you talking about, Richard? Delicious food that slowly killed that woman? Because you know she's allergic to fish, but you still gave her fish?”
