Chapter 248 New Beginning
Chapter 248 New Beginning
Lily's POV
Gabriel was really here, alive and breathing, holding our son.
The sight of my mate cradling our baby made everything I'd sacrificed worth it. Every drop of blood, every moment of agony growing that impossible fruit - it all led to this perfect moment.
"He's beautiful," Gabriel whispered, his voice still hoarse but growing stronger. His dark eyes were fixed on our son's face with absolute wonder.
Our baby seemed to sense his father's presence, tiny fists reaching up toward Gabriel's face.
"He missed you," I said softly, fighting another wave of dizziness. "We both did."
Eleanor stepped closer, tears streaming down her face. "I can't believe you're really back."
Iris was openly sobbing, her usual composed demeanor completely shattered. "When you died, I thought... I thought our family was broken forever."
Gabriel shifted our son to one arm and pulled his sister into a fierce hug. "I'm not going anywhere. Not again."
Behind us, the gathered Alphas and council members were still processing what they'd witnessed.
Benjamin cleared his throat, his voice shaky: "This changes everything. The resurrection... it's undeniable proof of Luna Lily's connection to the Moon Goddess."
"Indeed," Victor nodded slowly. "I owe you an apology, Luna. We all do."
I wanted to respond graciously, but another wave of weakness hit me hard.
Gabriel noticed immediately, his free arm wrapping around my waist. "Lily needs medical attention now."
I caught sight of Dr. Harrison trying to shrink into the crowd, his face pale with terror.
Gabriel's gaze swept the room and landed on the doctor. His expression turned deadly cold. "You. Doctor Harrison."
Dr. Harrison visibly trembled as Gabriel's voice cut through the air. "Alpha... I..."
"You're the one who tried to sedate my mate while she was performing a miracle," Gabriel's voice was ice.
"I... I was wrong," Dr. Harrison stammered, stepping forward with obvious fear. "Elder Thornwood convinced me that Luna Lily was having a psychotic break. I thought I was helping, but I was completely wrong."
Gabriel's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"You attacked my pregnant mate," Gabriel said quietly. The kind of quiet that preceded violence.
"I have medical supplies in my vehicle," Dr. Harrison rushed to explain, his hands shaking. "Please, let me make amends. Luna Lily needs an IV. I swear on my life, I only want to help now."
Gabriel stared at him for a long moment, his jaw clenched.
"If she suffers even the slightest discomfort from your treatment," Gabriel's voice was deadly soft, "you'll wish you'd never been born. Do you understand me?"
Dr. Harrison nodded frantically. "Yes, Alpha. I understand completely."
"Go get your supplies," Gabriel commanded. "This is your one chance at redemption."
As Dr. Harrison hurried out, I noticed Elder Thornwood trying to edge toward the back of the crowd.
Ethan stepped forward, looking relieved beyond words. "Gabriel, thank the Moon Goddess you're back. The council voted to strip Lily of her Luna title. Elder Thornwood led the motion."
Gabriel's jaw clenched dangerously as his gaze swept the room.
I saw the elder's face go white as he tried to hide behind Benjamin.
"Elder Thornwood. Step forward," Gabriel's voice carried absolute menace.
The elder had no choice but to emerge from the crowd, his arrogance completely replaced by terror. "Alpha Gabriel... I..."
"You stripped my mate of her title while she was grieving my death," Gabriel said, his voice growing stronger with fury. "You called her delusional for believing in resurrection."
"I... I was trying to protect the pack," Elder Thornwood stammered.
"No," Gabriel's voice boomed through the parlor. "My mate just performed a miracle that saved my life. She bled herself nearly to death to bring me back, and your response was to strip her of her rightful title?"
Lucas stepped forward, his face flushed with anger. "Elder Thornwood also suggested that Luna Lily should be institutionalized."
Gabriel's expression turned murderous.
"You wanted to lock up my mate?" His voice was barely controlled rage.
"This council session is over," Gabriel declared. "Elder Thornwood, you're hereby removed from your position effective immediately."
"You can't—" Elder Thornwood started to protest.
"I can and I am," Gabriel's Alpha power filled the room. Even the other Alphas felt it and instinctively showed their necks in submission. "Furthermore, you'll be held in detention for three years for attempting to usurp pack authority during a crisis."
Victor nodded approvingly. "A fair judgment. Your actions undermined pack stability during their darkest hour."
Two of Gabriel's warriors stepped forward to escort Elder Thornwood out.
Dr. Harrison returned with his medical supplies, moving carefully and keeping his eyes down. "Luna, I'll need you to lie down."
Gabriel watched him like a hawk as he guided me to the couch. "Just rest, love."
As Dr. Harrison inserted the IV with shaking hands, I watched Gabriel interact with the remaining Alphas.
"Alpha Gabriel," Benjamin said respectfully. "What you've experienced... what Luna Lily accomplished... it changes our understanding of everything."
"The Moon Goddess clearly favors your pack," another Alpha added.
Gabriel's expression was fierce with pride as he looked down at me. "My mate is extraordinary. I've always known that."
"The resurrection fruit," Victor said wonderingly. "How is such a thing even possible?"
"Love," I said simply, feeling the IV fluids helping. "The Moon Goddess responds to true love and sacrifice."
Gabriel sat down beside me, carefully balancing our son. "Lily risked everything to save me."
Our baby let out a tiny yawn, his perfect features relaxing against his father's chest.
"What's his name?" Iris asked softly.
Gabriel and I looked at each other. We'd discussed names before his death, but somehow none of them felt right now.
"Hope," I said suddenly. "His name is Hope."
Gabriel's eyes lit up with understanding. "Hope Wildson. Perfect."
Our son represented hope for our pack, our future, everything we'd almost lost.
"A fitting name," Eleanor said with a watery smile.
Benjamin cleared his throat respectfully. "What are your plans now? This miracle will be talked about throughout the wolf world."
Gabriel's expression grew thoughtful. "We're going to build something unprecedented. A massive statue of the Moon Goddess, visible from every corner of our territory."
The idea sent excitement through me despite my exhaustion.
"A monument to thank her for this miracle," Gabriel continued. "Something that will remind every wolf that the Moon Goddess still watches over us."
"The statue should depict her holding the resurrection fruit," I suggested weakly.
Gabriel's smile was radiant. "Brilliant. And we'll have an inscription telling the story of this day."
"And politically?" Victor asked carefully.
Gabriel's smile was sharp. "Politically, everything has changed. My pack just demonstrated power that transcends normal wolf abilities. Any Alpha who wants our alliance will be welcome."
"You're talking about unification," Benjamin realized.
"I'm talking about evolution," Gabriel corrected. "The old ways of separate packs fighting for scraps are ending. We're entering a new era."
I could see the vision forming in his mind - a united wolf nation with Moonfall at its center.
"And Luna Lily will be honored as the Moon Goddess's chosen," Victor said with certainty.
Gabriel's hand found mine, squeezing gently. "My mate will be respected as she always should have been."
Baby Hope started fussing, and Gabriel instinctively began rocking him. The sight of my powerful Alpha mate caring for our child made my heart swell.
"He's hungry," I realized.
Gabriel helped me sit up carefully, mindful of the IV. As I took our son and began nursing, he wrapped his arm around both of us protectively.
This was what mattered. Family. Love. The future we'd fought so hard to protect.
The visiting Alphas began making their departure, each stopping to pay their respects.
"Luna Lily," Benjamin said formally. "Your sacrifice and strength will be remembered forever. You have my pack's eternal loyalty."
Similar declarations came from the other Alphas. What had started as doubt and skepticism had transformed into reverence and alliance.
As the parlor finally emptied, leaving just our family and closest friends, Gabriel pressed a kiss to my temple.
"Welcome to our new beginning," he murmured. "Everything starts now."
Outside, I could see the sun setting, painting the sky in shades of gold and pink.
A new day was coming, and we'd face it together.
As one family. One pack. One future blessed by the Moon Goddess herself.
