Caught

**Valerie’s POV**

But I wasn’t prepared for it, as I staggered in my steps.

“OLIVER?”

I stood in astonishment as we stared into each other's eyes, and his face showed the same level of shock. I quickly left Ma'am Savanna and went home as I exited the site. I boarded a taxi home, I got home pacing from left to right confused about what was next to do.

I thought about running away again but on a second thought, I don’t think that’s the right thing to do, I just can’t keep running without a fight, but I still haven’t gotten any proof that Oliver is the father of my kids. I needed to come up with something and do that fast, right now Oliver seeing me here means bad luck for me because he’s going to tighten up the security in this town.

My only hiding place has just been ruined, why does he have to do this to me? Soon Ma’am savanna arrived saying she was already tired as the people who turned up were more than she expected. She had taken care of them all and they are going to begin working tomorrow. Just when everything was falling into place for me then this?

Ma’am savanna noticed the worry which was evident on my face and asked.

“Valerie? Are you okay?”

“Yes, ma’am, I’m fine.”

“Why is your face telling a different story then?”

“I’m fine Ma’am savanna you don’t need to worry.”

“Now this is the last straw for me Valerie. Do you really think I’m blind? You’ve been acting really strange and awkward right from the day I brought you in, yet you’re still being secretive with me? Really? Don’t I deserve an explanation why you suddenly decided to come home when you met that guy?”

“What?”

“Yes Valerie, don’t act surprised because I’ve been watching you lately and you seem to be afraid of somebody or something. What is wrong Valerie, seeing you like this isn’t good for your health and that of your babies and you know this.”

She kept on talking and talking until I got fed up and tears began flowing down from my eyes .

“Ma’am savanna, do you think I don’t know all this? Do you really think I’m not conscious of my health and that of my babies? Do you really think so? Let me ask you something Ma’am. What would you do as a lady if the child you’re carrying is being rejected by the father huh? What would you do If that same father of your kids was the one who made you an orphan? What would you do if that same father of your children is from the same family who picked you up from the street, huh? What would you do if that Same man in question was the reason you believed in love again?”

“Why are you suddenly quiet Ma’am? You think I was doing this on purpose? Every mother wants the best for her lad, don’t you think I want that too? But when life is being so unfair to you, what do you expect me to do Ma’am what?”

She paused and stared at me for a while with moist eyes.

“I know I have been really secretive with you, now I’m coming out in the open, these are what I’m facing Ma’am savanna. I’m a girl who became an orphan because of my husband, and I’m also carrying his child without him knowing or even remembering we had a night together because he never liked his wife ma’am, instead he fell in love with a stripper which is also me. I’m that same stripper he fell in love with and had sex with, yet he doesn’t even remember.”

“We shared so many good times together, but he still doesn’t feel how I feel for him instead his feelings are channeled to a stripper Ma’a savanna. How do I possibly tell you this? Who knows what you would have done to me if you had found out. Now you’ve pushed me to the wall Ma’am savanna, I’d understand if you don’t want me anymore because right now I’m not safe here.”

“He’s going to send the police after me very soon and I’m going to be taken back to a house where I won’t be treated right. And that’s definitely going to add to my predicament which I don’t want, so what’s it going to be Ma’am?”

She stood in awe staring at me like she’d seen a ghost, I wasn’t expecting anything good to come from her at this point. After-all I’m at fault here so she has every right to get angry and scold me, but she didn’t.

“When are we leaving?” She asked.

“Huh?”

“Don’t act like you’re deaf. Go pack your bags now, I know a place we could go.”

“Wait, what? You mean you’re going to still stick with me?”

“I’m doing this for the kids, but as for you? You have a lot of questions to answer.”

“Really?” My eyes became moist again as I thanked Mother Nature for giving me such a kind soul, she reminded me so much about my mom. I went upstairs to pack up a few of my things and went back down to see Ma’am savanna already set to leave.

We came out while I boarded a taxi only to find the police at the door with Luke, Oliver’s best friend with them.

“Mrs. Valerie Brentwood, please come with us to the mansion as you were declared missing so you could be publicly declared found.”

“Mrs. Valerie Brentwood!?” Ma’am savanna exclaimed.

“You’re a part of the Brentwood’s?”

“Surprise.” I said, giving her a weird smile.

I turned back to the police only to see a smirk on Luke’s face, so Oliver couldn’t come get me himself huh? I thought. Just then I noticed something, Luke’s shirt, why do I feel like I’ve seen that somewhere before? But anyway, I shrugged that feeling off.

“What if I refused to go with you, huh?” I retorted
