Chapter 74 Cressida Was Taken to the Government?
Michael gripped the dagger, waving it around Sean's body as if playing a game.
And Sean was like a corpse with open eyes!
They turned to look at Cressida, who was gripping Daryl's wrist.
Patrick nearly lost his voice: "Michael, what on earth are you doing!"
Michael jumped in fright, dropped the dagger, and hid behind Cressida.
"Cressida, I'm scared."
Cressida held Daryl tightly: "Father, Mother, quick, tie this man up!"
Daryl struggled desperately, his face turning pale, shouting: "Ms. Cressida Hamilton, what a vicious mind you have! Setting this trap to frame me, then none of us should live! Mr. Patrick Hamilton, your dear daughter killed..."
Before he could finish, Cressida used the force of their struggle to let herself be pushed to the ground.
The inside of her palm was cut, and she cried out in pain.
Ronin immediately subdued Daryl, pressing his head to the ground.
Michael instantly covered his head, squatted down and screamed.
"They want to kill me! I'm scared, Father, Mother, I'm so scared!" Michael babbled incoherently, and everyone had trouble understanding him.
Clio rushed forward, held Michael in her arms, and cried: "My Michael! Who wants to kill you? Tell me quickly!"
Michael pointed at Daryl: "Him, them!"
Patrick looked at Cressida: "What's going on? Tell me now!"
Cressida was helped up by Emma, her eyes red.
"Father, Mother, I'm unfilial. I discovered Michael was in danger but didn't tell you in time."
"When the maid delivered food, she overheard Daryl instructing Michael to ask me for money. I felt something was odd, so I had someone follow Daryl. I didn't expect to see him discussing with Sean at Welcome Inn about demanding a hundred thousand dollars from me, then killing Michael and running away."
"This morning Daryl used Michael to force me to come to the inn. When I saw Sean's body, I realized they had a falling out over the money, and Daryl had already killed Sean last night!"
Daryl struggled violently: "You're lying! You bitch, you're the one who wanted to kill your own brother and deliberately lured me here!"
But Michael picked up the dagger from the ground and threw it at him.
"You were trying to bully me!" Michael said.
The dagger was extremely sharp and pierced into Daryl's eye. He immediately wailed and passed out from the pain.
Cressida looked frightened, her face turning pale.
Ronin looked at her with doubt in his eyes.
"Why didn't Ms. Hamilton think to inform your family first?"
"I was afraid Daryl would do something crazy and hurt Michael."
"Then why did you come out alone with Daryl?"
"Daryl used Michael to threaten me and made me bring money. I didn't dare make a scene."
She choked up, taking out a bag of money from her sleeve.
"I brought all the money, just asking him not to hurt Michael."
An officer lowered his voice and told Ronin: "This Sean is a well-known local thug. Daryl's face is less familiar, but if we check the nearby gambling houses and brothels, someone will definitely recognize him."
Ronin gave a look: "Go check now."
Cressida caught sight of the two officers leaving from the corner of her eye.
Then she heard Ronin say: "Get a doctor to treat Daryl."
Before the crime was determined, Daryl couldn't die.
Ronin led people to search the room.
They found the money Cressida had given him earlier on Daryl, confirming that Daryl had indeed asked Cressida for money several times.
Clio stared at Cressida: "When we came in just now, why were you grabbing Daryl? Outside, we all heard him shouting for help!"
Cressida lowered her eyes dimly: "He said he would pin Sean's death on Michael and me, forcing me to give him another million dollars. I refused and wanted to leave with Michael. Daryl tried to attack me but found he couldn't beat me. That's when he got scared and naturally called for help."
Too far-fetched!
But Clio couldn't ask anything else.
Especially Michael, leaning in her arms, but still gripping Cressida's sleeve tightly with one hand.
If Cressida had done something to harm Michael, he wouldn't depend on her like this.
Clio closed her eyes, protecting Michael, with a terrible headache.
Soon, Ronin's men returned and whispered a few words to him.
Ronin's expression changed: "Are you sure he's one of the bandits who escaped on Flower Festival night?"
The officer nodded: "The build matches the description. Daryl disappeared for several days after Flower Festival and reappeared right after he had brought Mr. Michael Hamilton back to the Hamilton Mansion."
"Also, Sean had a lover at the brothel. Sean once told her when drunk that he was going to do something big on Flower Festival night and people might die. She didn't believe him, so Sean showed her the rope, sack, and sleeping drug he had prepared."
"The blacksmith also personally confirmed that the usually poor Sean suddenly came into money and used a large sum to buy a machete from him."
"Where's the knife?" Ronin asked.
The officer shook his head: "Missing."
The thieves who randomly slashed people during Flower Festival that night used machetes!
Patrick heard what they said, his face turning sour.
"Michael was kidnapped by these two bandits?"
"Mr. Patrick Hamilton, everything must be thoroughly investigated before we know. But before that, I'm afraid we'll have to trouble Ms. Cressida Hamilton and Mr. Michael Hamilton to come back to the office with us."
Cressida had expected this, but Clio panicked and held Michael tightly.
"Michael doesn't even know those bandits. Don't investigate wrongly and accuse innocent people!"
Ronin's face was serious: "This is a major matter. All relevant departments will be involved. Please rest assured, Mrs. Clio Hamilton."
Cressida and Michael were taken away like this.
When Ethan arrived, he just saw Cressida leaving with the officers.
He immediately frowned and stopped Patrick: "Patrick, what happened?"
Patrick had no time to explain to him and hurried back to the Hamilton Mansion to figure things out.
Ethan still learned what happened from Emma.
He immediately turned and ran to ask people for help!
Probably considering Cressida and Michael's status, the authorities didn't dare lock them in jail but instead took them to a small room to wait.
Rough tea was brought into the room, and the officer locked the door when leaving.
Cressida stood by the table with lowered eyes, thinking about something.
Then someone tugged at her sleeve. Cressida turned around, and Michael stretched out his hand.
"Candy, candy."
Cressida sneered and placed a piece of candy in his palm.
"Michael, you can't tell anyone about these things I taught you, understand? If you can do that, you'll have candy every day."
Michael nodded blankly.
With his childlike mind now, he got restless after a short while.
He started shouting and yelling, unable to sit still, and even banged on the door.
But soon, he finally got tired and lay down.
Watching the sun gradually set until dusk fell.
Cressida wasn't anxious. She knew she would definitely get out.
Night had fallen deep. She rested her head on her hand, dozing at the table, while Michael squatted on the floor nearby.
The sound of unlocking came from the door, and someone pulled it open.
Cressida looked up, and when she saw who it was, she couldn't help but freeze. How could it be...
