Chapter 64 Cressida Kills Michael Personally
Halfway through the banquet, Cressida pressed her hand to her forehead.
She was a bit drunk.
Her delicate face flushed with an alcohol-induced rosiness, as if rouge had been applied, making her look even more beautiful.
Jessica noticed and quickly asked, "Cressida, have you had too much to drink?"
Cressida waved her hand. "I'm fine."
Theo Garcia walked over, originally intending to toast Cressida, but saw that she looked slightly tipsy.
Theo immediately asked with concern, "Ms. Hamilton, should I get you some honey water to help with the alcohol?"
"No need, I'm not that drunk. I'll just sit for a bit."
As Cressida spoke, she looked up at Theo. He was from the Garcia family, and during their earlier activities, Theo had been particularly attentive to Cressida.
Jessica ordered some tea for Cressida. Later, Peter called Jessica over to join them, but Jessica was worried about leaving Cressida.
"Go ahead," Cressida said. "I'll just stay here and won't go anywhere."
Only then did Jessica nod. "Alright, Cressida, if you really feel bad, let's just hang out for a bit and then go home."
After Jessica left, Cressida stood up unsteadily.
Elysia asked, "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to get some honey water to help with the alcohol. It's fine, you all keep having fun. I'll be right back." Cressida went downstairs.
Elysia was about to follow, but since there were many people on the third floor and the maids serving them were all waiting downstairs, Elysia was worried Cressida might fall going down alone.
Unexpectedly, Michael volunteered, "I'll go with Cressida. She's drunk, I'm worried about her."
Elysia looked at Michael approvingly. "Make sure you support her."
Michael agreed and followed her down the stairs.
The further down they went, the more distant the noise behind them became.
The kitchen at Wisteria Terrace was in the backyard on the first floor. Michael lifted the curtain and walked into the kitchen, where steam was still rising from the pots, but the staff were nowhere to be seen.
Michael knew his men had already used the competition as an excuse to lure them all away.
"Cressida, Cressida?" Michael walked along, calling out softly.
Michael went around a stove and saw Cressida lying on the ground, unconscious.
Michael smiled coldly, his eyes flashing with intense murderous intent.
He walked to the back door of the backyard and opened it to look outside.
This area was near the waterway, not within the range of Glory Street and Prosperity Street, so it seemed deserted.
At the moment, only a dark little boat was docked on the water.
Someone emerged from under the boat's canopy—it was the thug Sean Gray.
"You wait here. I'll put her in a sack, and you take her out of the city tonight."
"Don't worry, Mr. Hamilton, I'll get it done!" Sean nodded.
Michael returned to the kitchen, only to find that where Cressida had just been lying unconscious was now completely empty!
Michael's eyes widened. "Where is she?"
As soon as he turned around, he was struck hard on the head with a heavy object and immediately lost consciousness.
As blood seeped into his eyes, he seemed to see Cressida's cold gaze.
Cressida looked at Michael, covered in blood and unconscious.
She looked down at his fingers.
She should also make Michael experience the pain of having all ten fingers broken, but unfortunately, he was unconscious now and couldn't feel the pain while awake. What a pity.
Cressida didn't break his fingers, but instead hit him on the head again with the club.
Then, she used the sack Michael had prepared for her and stuffed Michael into it. She also threw in a stone from the vegetable vat, sealed the sack's opening, and tied it tightly with straw rope.
Cressida whistled, and Emma came in with two strong men.
They were from the martial arts school, people of Cressida's teacher Clarence.
After Cressida gave them instructions, she washed the blood splattered on her hands with nearby water.
Cressida patted her skirt expressionlessly. Emma tidied Cressida's hair, and only then did Cressida go back upstairs as if nothing had happened.
The two men carried the sack out the back door.
Sean emerged from under the boat's canopy and, seeing unfamiliar faces, became quite alert.
"Who are you?"
"Fuck you, we're Mr. Hamilton's men, of course."
"Where's Mr. Hamilton?"
"He went back upstairs to drink. We all work for Mr. Hamilton. Stop asking useless questions."
After saying this, they threw the sack onto the small boat with a dull thud.
Sean wanted to untie the rope to look, but the man named Cruz called out loudly, "Don't open it! We finally got her under control. She knows martial arts. If she wakes up, can you handle her?"
AfterCruz said this, Sean didn't dare.
Last time Sean had heard Michael say that Cressida relied on knowing some martial arts to bully people at home.
Sean wasn't stupid enough to cause trouble now.
Sean said rudely to Cruz , "Tell Mr. Hamilton I've taken her away."
"Wait," Cruz instructed. "Mr. Hamilton ordered that once you're out of the city and in the middle of the lake, throw the sack into the water. He wants her dead. Got it?"
Sean hesitated. "Didn't Mr. Hamilton say to break her tendons and sell her to a brothel?"
Cruz put on an angry front and scolded, "You dare question Mr. Hamilton's orders?"
"If I don't sell her, I lose money!" Sean protested.
Cruz said, "When you finish the job, come back and ask Mr. Hamilton for it. He'll naturally make up the money to you. Would he short you?"
Hearing this, Sean finally put away the boat rope, and his accomplice pushed the pole to leave.
Watching the small boat gradually disappear at the end of the canal, the two Cruz men left separately.
At this time, Cressida had already returned to the lively banquet.
Elysia asked, "Why don't I see Michael? He went down to look for you earlier."
Cressida picked up her hot tea, surprised. "I didn't see him. Maybe we missed each other. I just heard people downstairs talking about the competition starting. He probably went to watch the excitement."
Elysia didn't ask further, just smiled and said, "Boys are like that, they like to go out and have fun."
Cressida called Jessica back.
"I'm really drunk and not feeling well. Let's go home first."
Jessica immediately agreed. Elysia and the others wanted to keep playing, but Cressida said, "When it's over, this road definitely won't be passable. If we don't leave now, we won't be able to later."
They had already seen the fireworks and played games. All that was left was the competition, but none of them planned to participate since they wouldn't win anyway, and it required both manpower and money.
Elysia stood up. "Then I'll go home too."
Seeing Elysia about to leave, Lyra and the others also said their goodbyes.
Cressida went home.
Cressida's steps were unsteady, as if she were drunk, and Jessica supported her.
As soon as they returned to the estate, they ran into Mabel.
"Cressida, Jessica, why are you back so early?"
"Cressida's drunk and not feeling well," Jessica said.
Mabel quickly came over and put her arm around Cressida's shoulder with concern, smelling the faint essence of alcohol on Cressida.
"How did you drink so much? If you can't hold your liquor, you shouldn't push yourself. Someone, go prepare honey water for Cressida to help with the alcohol."
"Thank you, Mabel," Cressida said.
"Silly child, no need to thank me. Let me take you to your room."
They passed by the main courtyard, where Patrick was playing chess with Reid in the yard.
Patrick looked up and asked, "Has Michael come back?"
Verity and Emma exchanged glances secretly.
Cressida was drunk and couldn't answer. Jessica said, "Michael seems to have gone to watch the competition. We didn't see him when we left."
"Michael really loves to play!" Patrick said, then lowered his head to continue playing chess, not taking it to heart.
Clio stood at the window, hearing noisy voices outside the courtyard.
She asked, "Nanny, what are they saying out there?"
Nanny had just come back from outside. "Ms. Cressida Hamilton has returned. She went out with Ms. Jessica Hamilton and the others today, got drunk, and Mrs. Mabel Hamilton is preparing honey water for Ms. Cressida Hamilton, taking extra careful care of her."
Clio just laughed coldly and asked again, "What about Michael? Hasn't he come back yet?"
"Not yet. Perhaps Mr. Michael Hamilton went to visit Ms. Rose Hamilton."
At the mention of Rose, Clio's tears began to fall uncontrollably.
Clio covered her chest, her haggard face showing sorrow. "I've wronged Rose. I didn't protect her. Every time I see Cressida doing so well, I think of my Rose suffering on that estate."
"Why, why? Rose is so sweet and sensible, yet she was harmed by Cressida and can't come home. Nanny, my heart is breaking. It hurts, it really hurts!" Clio collapsed at her desk, crying.
Nanny comforted her, "You must take care of your health, otherwise you won't have the energy to fight Ms. Cressida Hamilton for power. You still need to bring Ms. Rose Hamilton back. Mr. Michael Hamilton will help you too."
Clio took a deep breath.
"You're right. I need to pull myself together. When Michael comes back, have him come see me."
