CHAPTER 75

Bringing the Internal Storm to Life

There was blood and turmoil on the battlefield. Under the chilly moonlight, our warriors engaged the rival pack in combat, the air heavy with the smell of iron and terror. With my senses sharpened and every muscle tense from the need to defend my pack, I made my way through the chaos.

Beside me, Kai was a tornado of power, a ray of hope in the middle of the chaos. However, the unrelenting assault seemed to be taxing even his great strength.

Through the commotion came a sharp howl—a warning from the adversary Alpha. A massive figure with ferocious-looking eyes emerged from the darkness. The berserker.

With horrifying speed, it tore through our ranks, leaving destruction in its wake. Our walls crumbled like sand, and our valiant and experienced men died before its attack.

Anger gnawed at my breast. We were losing. I could do nothing to avert the destruction of our pack.

I felt a burning agony that spread like wildfire through my veins as I ducked under an enemy wolf's vicious swipe. I staggered and gasped as images of ancient rituals, moonlight celebrations, and the faces of Luna's former inhabitants with their eyes blazing with wild might flashed before my eyes.

A quiet but firm voice reverberated in my head: *"Embrace the storm inside."

I gave in to the feeling without really comprehending it, letting the agony take me. From deep inside, a power that was both thrilling and horrifying sprang out.

As a dazzling light engulfed my body, the earth beneath me shook. My body began to change, not into my wolf's well-known form, but into something more primordial and old.

Around me, yells of amazement and gasps increased as the light faded. My senses were sharper, my presence exuded strength, and I stood higher. With doubt flaring in its eyes, the berserker turned its evil eyes on me.

I hurled myself at the thing with a howl that rocked the sky. The power with which we collided sent shockwaves throughout the battlefield. I moved with power and speed I had never experienced before, the raw energy pulsing through me as I struck.

My attack caused the berserker to weaken, bringing its once-unstoppable approach to a startling halt. Our soldiers rallied when they saw how vulnerable it was, and seeing their Luna with such much strength boosted their spirits.

But as time went on, I felt my energy level dropping, the first spike giving way to a crippling exhaustion. My eyesight became blurry and my actions were slow, but I persisted out of a frantic need to keep my pack safe.

At last, I delivered a powerful hit that sent the berserker plummeting to the ground. The booming in my ears drowned out the jubilant cry that came from our ranks. Darkness crept up on the borders of my vision as the globe slanted.

The unexpected strength left me exhausted and exposed as I fell to my knees. I could see Kai running toward me through the fog, his worried eyes wide.

The rival Alpha, his face contorted with triumph and anger, leaned over him before he could get to me. With deadly determination, he lifted a blade and pointed it straight at Kai's exposed back.

I attempted to yell, to alert him, but my body was lifeless and my voice was blurry. As the sword came down, time seemed to pause, and all I could do was stare in impotent fear.
