Chapter 42 Why Not Go For It?

Queenie was accustomed to his cold smirk, as he had been like this five years ago. No matter what she did, he would not support her. She swore to make Austin regret underestimating her.

Sam remained silent. He secretly glanced at Queenie and felt that she was suited for that role.

Unfortunately, Austin didn't realize Queenie's beauty.

Sam told Austin's words to Caspar. But Caspar was stubborn. He said, "Can I speak to Mr. Lewis in person?"

Sam looked at Austin.

After thinking, Austin took the call. "This is Austin."

"Mr. Lewis, hello. I am Caspar Jackson. I am honored to have you support our production team." Caspar quickly stated his purpose, "I have truly found the most suitable actress for the role of Rene. Please believe in my years of experience, Mr. Lewis. Or you can personally see the actress I have chosen before making a judgment. Alright?"

Queenie listened attentively and silently observed Austin's reaction. She didn't expect Caspar to support her so much. Queenie was quite touched.

Meanwhile, her husband on their marriage certificate carelessly spent money on his mistress. He seemed to treat her, his wife, as if she were dead. Such a situation was truly heartbreaking.

However, Austin directly refused.

"Mr. Jackson, I admire your talent." Austin first praised Caspar, "I have wanted to collaborate with you for a long time. And, I also believe in your judgment."

"But Mr. Jackson, there are many talented actors. It is not possible for every actor to have the chance to become famous worldwide. I am investing so much money for a specific person. I’m even willing to add another $4 million, making a total investment of $18 million. I believe with this amount of investment, no one else will have objections. With this funding, the production team can finish filming this movie as soon as possible."

Queenie was almost infuriated.

He added another $4 million!

Due to the long filming schedule, the release date of the movie still needed to be determined. There was also a lot of post-production work that needed to happen. If the production team had enough funds, it might not be a problem. Some supporting roles could be given to other directors to film. Then, Caspar could make the final decision. Other work could also be done in advance.

As long as the production team had money, Caspar could hire people to carry out various tasks, and all aspects could be better optimized.

Caspar had high expectations for this film. So, he was somewhat hesitant. He still couldn't bear to give the role of Rene to someone else, especially Nora. Caspar didn't have high hopes for her.

"Mr. Lewis, I'd like to meet with you in private. Is that appropriate?"

"Mr. Jackson, please have your assistant contact me to arrange a specific time."

Austin finished speaking and handed his phone to Sam. He had indeed mastered the essence of being a CEO.

Queenie was dumbfounded. It took her quite a while to regain her composure. She held the phone in her palm and hesitated. She was in a dilemma. Queenie didn't want to make things difficult for Caspar, but she also really liked this role. Moreover, it was Nora who wanted this role, and Queenie didn't want to give it up so easily.

Her eyes reddened. A deep pain swept over her heart. It was impossible to say that she didn't care at all.

The entertainment industry was just that harsh. Even if actors were talented and skilled, it was difficult for them to succeed in the industry without directors and opportunities that appreciated them.

Soon, they arrived at the Lewis Group. Sam parked the car at the dedicated elevator entrance.

When Austin got out of the car, Queenie still hadn't recovered.

Seeing her sitting motionless, he frowned, "If you want to be locked in the car, I have no objection!"

"Sam..."

Queenie snapped out of it and hurriedly followed him.

Queenie said, "Austin, I'm hungry." Queenie anxiously held her stomach. After all, she hadn't even had breakfast.

Ignoring her words, Austin continued walking forward as if he hadn't heard her. He was tall, so his legs were long. Queenie couldn't keep up with his pace at all.

Soon, Austin entered the exclusive elevator around the corner. Queenie was somewhat frustrated.

He was really stingy.

On the other hand, Sam came over to Queenie and said, "Mrs. Lewis, are you hungry? I'll call someone to deliver food later."

Queenie didn't want to accept his kindness, because Sam was Austin's most loyal subordinate!

Austin waited in the elevator for almost ten seconds before Queenie rushed in, breathing heavily. He couldn't help but smile.

"Your legs are really short!"

Queenie was angry and speechless. She instinctively looked at her own legs.

It was true that the casual pants she was wearing didn't make her legs look long. But her legs weren't short either!

"Is my leg length related to you? Even if your legs are long, you might not be able to handle my alluring figure!" Queenie raised her eyebrows smugly. "I have skills, hmph!"

A complex expression flashed across Austin's face.

Sam hid in the corner, covering his ears, pretending he didn't hear anything. He dutifully played the role of an invisible person. Then, taking advantage of the elevator doors not yet closing, Sam made an excuse that he had left some documents in the car. So, he ran out of the elevator. The conversation was becoming too provocative. This elevator wasn't suitable for a pure-hearted man like him.

Austin loosened his tie in annoyance. He scolded, "Queenie, how did you become like this? Your mind is filled with all these explicit images. These years, you..."

Queenie shrugged her shoulders. She laughed happily, "All these years, I've been sleeping with a man. They all love my legs. They even praise me for being sexy and charming."

Before she finished speaking, Austin pushed her against the elevator, "What did you say?" His tone was calm, his expression cold, with a horrifying anger.

Queenie was frightened, but she was clever. "Why should I say it again? If you want me to say it, I'll say it."

Austin slapped her face. His sharp gaze scanned her straight legs, "You sleep with a man every day? Queenie, you better explain it clearly to me."

"Why do I have to explain? We're getting divorced anyway."

"But we're not divorced yet." Austin gritted his teeth, his face turning black with anger.

"But you're having an affair while we're still married. I didn't ask you to explain either!"

At that moment, Austin's private phone rang. Queenie regained her freedom again. She coughed uncomfortably a few times.

Phew, Austin had a tendency for violence, so she really couldn't be with this man.

"Nora!" Austin switched roles seamlessly. His voice was soft and low, "Don't worry, I will take care of it for you. Rest well." By tomorrow at the latest, she would be getting a blood transfusion for Ariel.

"I'll come see you after the meeting."

"Okay, good girl."

Queenie felt like throwing up from listening. But she was very grateful for Nora's call.

Austin hung up the phone. When he saw Queenie relax, he calmly walked out of the elevator.

Queenie pursed her lips and followed him. She decided not to have a direct confrontation with Austin, a violent man like him.

The floor was Austin's office area. Only he and Sam worked here, so it was very quiet and luxurious.

Queenie silently complained, 'Do you really need such a big space just for yourself?' Indeed, rich people were capricious.

"You wait for me in the conference room." Austin suddenly turned around and coldly said to her.

"Why should I wait here for you? Austin, I'm not your employee."

Austin sneered. Then, he walked straight into his office.

Queenie, "..."

When Sam approached with documents, he saw Queenie standing in place. "Mrs. Lewis, how about I show you around?" Sam thought to himself, 'I'll let everyone at the Lewis Group know that you are the true Mrs. Lewis.'

Annoyed, Queenie replied, "I don't need that."

Sam was speechless. He thought, ‘Did they have another argument?’

Queenie made a call from the conference room with her phone.

Apriland was pushing for a sale. Queenie's assistant, Linda, said, "Anna, someone offered a high price for Slendery a few days ago. I didn't agree. I haven't been able to reach you, so I was wondering if we should sell to some of them for the money."

Queenie thought of Nora and asked, "What's the name of the person who wants to buy it? Did you look into their background?"

"The person is a celebrity, she seems to be called... Nora? But her manager, Janet, personally came to buy it," Linda replied.

A smile appeared on Queenie's face as she asked, "How much did she offer?"

"S200,000!" Linda was satisfied with the price.

Too generous. No fool would sell it to her at such a high price.

"$200,000?" Queenie scoffed, "She's offering too little. It shows she's not sincere."

Linda was speechless. "Um, Anna, what do you think is a reasonable price to sell to her?"

"$1 million!"

Linda coughed in shock, "O-One million dollars!!" Only a fool would buy it. It's just a weight-loss product. Linda thought she had misheard.

Queenie raised an eyebrow, "Tell her that. Don't explain too much to her."

Meanwhile, Nora, lying in a hospital bed, received a call from Janet.

"Nora, they agreed to sell Slendery to us."

"Really? Janet, I'll wire the money to you right away. Come back immediately," Nora was anxious to lose weight.

"But..." Janet hesitated, "Nora, they want $1 million to sell it to us!"

Nora was shocked and almost couldn't catch her breath, "What? $1 million? Why don't they just rob a bank?"
