Chapter 52 — Bomb Blast
Mitra's POV:
I am in my office waiting for my colleague to come with proof. But before their arrival, I got a message on WhatsApp from Dheer. I opened the message and watched the video which he sent. In the video, that doctor confessed the truth that they took a bribe from Poornima to give a fake DNA report.
I decided to telecast the news with all these proofs. I watched the video where Dheer proposed Poornima. I remembered the whole story told by the doctor to me.
Poornima was a secret admirer to Dheer. She loved her, but Dheer didn't. Seeing the news that Dheer married me, she tried to kill herself. Her roommate admitted Poornima to the hospital. But, she refused to take treatment. The hospital staff informed Dheer to save her. Dheer tried to convince her, but she refused to listen, and the effect of sleeping pills increased on her body. So, finally, having no option to save her life, Dheer proposed to her. She accepted to take treatment, thinking he will marry her.
After her recovery, Dheer explained that he loved me and provided counselling to stop her suicidal thoughts. Dheer visited her room and moved friendly with her only to make her normal. But, she used his humanity to fulfil her wish of marrying him.
I telecasted the news and went to my room. I can't face Dheer, so I didn't go to his home. My foolishness hurt him a lot. How can I face him? I took his photo and hugged it to my heart, crying. I didn't understand how to talk to him. Will he forgive me? Will he accepts me as his wife again after insulting him so much.
I tried calling him, but he cut the call. I tried again, and he ignored it also. Is he not ready to talk to me? The next day I went to his office. He looked at me but didn't speak to me.
"Madam, sir asked you to leave," the constable said.
"I want to meet him once."
"I don't want to meet anyone. You can leave now," Dheer said, coming out from his cabin.
"Dheer, please listen to me once," I said, holding his wrist as he is leaving.
"Did you listen to me when I requested you? Leave my hand. You lost that right the day you left me," he said seriously.
"Dheer, I love you. Please forgive me," I requested him.
"That will be my second biggest mistake if I forgive you. The first one is to marry you."
I left his hand. What should I do now to get your forgiveness? He went off in his vehicle. I stood there, and suddenly I fainted. When I opened my eyes, I am in the hospital. I saw a nurse near to me.
"Madam, you fainted when you came to meet Dheer sir. We admitted to the hospital," the constable said.
I nodded. I searched for Dheer; he is not there.
"Didn't you inform Dheer?"
"We informed to sir. Sir said he was busy and asked us to admit you in hospital."
"Ok"
"Sister, what is the problem?" I asked the nurse when the constable went out.
"Nothing to worry, madam. It's good news. You got conceived," the nurse said, making me happy.
I kept my hand on my belly. My baby. Dheer's baby. Our baby. Wow. I am going to become a mother. Dheer would be very happy if he knows this. Mom and dad will be double delighted because they waited for a long time to hear this news. I hope Dheer will forgive me now.
Dheer's POV:
I went to a meeting with DIG. We are discussing the increasing crime rate in the city. Suddenly constable came running into the conference hall.
"Sir, our Home Minister Dharma sir and Health Minister Vishwanath were caught in a bomb blast. Health Minister died in the blast, and Home Minister was admitted to ICU. His condition was very serious," the constable said, shocking us.
"Dheer, we need to go to the hospital. Announce a high alert and 144 section. Take the city into our control. Provide high security in the premises of the hospital and to Home Minister sir's wife too," DIG said, and I nodded.
We are going to the hospital, and Mitra called me. I disconnected her call and switched it off. I ordered the department to provide security to Dharma, and Asha. Department took the whole city into control. We went to the hospital.
"How is Home Minister?" DIG asked the doctor.
"His condition is very critical. He is on a ventilator. We can't say anything for now. He is under observation. Let's pray to God as nothing is in our hands now," the doctor said.
"Where is his wife?" I asked his followers.
"We didn't find madam at home, sir. Her mobile was switched off."
What? Is she safe? Or something happened to her too? I remembered Kali, who died in my hands, taking a promise from Dharma and me to take care of his sister. Till now, Dharma took care of her, but now he is in bed. He didn't even know about Asha. I ordered my team to come to the hospital immediately. I thought of going in search of Asha, but DIG stopped me.
"Dheer, you can't go now. CBI officer is coming here as Prime Minister ordered us to handover this blasting case to CBI. You will be assisting them in the case, as the head of the team wanted only you to be involved in this case."
"But sir, what about Home Minister's wife, Asha?"
"Let's wait till CBI reaches here. Only then can we decide further," DIG left, ordering me to stay there.
I went to ICU and saw Dharma from outside through the glass door. I remembered Dharma in college days and how our friendship started with a fight for Jay and Kali. Kali was his best friend, and Jay was my best friend as I didn't know he was my half-brother at the time.
Jay and Kali fought as a part of playing cricket. Kali was a great player who was selected for Nationals. Jay was a part of our college cricket team, which was headed by Kali. Kali removed Jay as he lost his form. Jay was unable to digest the insult, and they both fought with each other after college.
I went as support to Jay, and Dharma supported Kali. I was about to beat Kali for beating Jay but stopped by Dharma. He explained what happened and suggested that I control my anger and know the facts before taking action. Slowly we four became friends, but Kali left for Cricket Academy, which was in Delhi for training as World Cup is coming forward within one and half years. He continued his studies there. After that, we three became very close to each other.
After a year, I went for training. World Cup is in one month. Suddenly one day, Kali called Dharma, saying his life is in threat. Dharma informed me. I called dad, and dad arranged security for him using his influence. But on December 6th, religious riots took place, and in that, Kali was killed. That day was his birthday. Dharma and I planned a surprise for him. I visited him along with Dharma by taking permission from the training academy. But to our shock, he was stabbed with a knife in the riots and died in our hands.
Asha is in a hostel at that time, so I never saw her. Dharma being his school friend, he knew his sister too. Dharma asked me to leave for training, and he will take care of them. He asked me not to waste my career by dropping from training to take Asha's responsibility. I went to training, and I don't know anything after that.
I lost my sister, my friends Kali and Jay. I don't want to lose either Dharma or Asha now. I must save them.
