CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE : ADMITTED
“What?” Killian asked confused.
“Ethan is dying, Plesse come,” I cried into the phone.
Knowing I could not waste any more time, I ended the call, slipping my phone back into my pocket as I moved.
Ethan felt too heavy on my shoulders.
Heavier than he had ever been.
And with every step I took, more tears slipped out of my lips knowing I was too late.
Ethan was dying in my arms.
If he already was not.
And when I finally got to the stairs, it felt like my journey had just become worse.
There was no way I could probably get him down the stairs.
“Why do you do this to me, Ethan?
Even in death, you caused me pain,” I gritted, unable to control the emotion I was feeling.
“Aveline?” I heard a familiar voice call.
My eyes widened watching as Killian walked into my view, his panicked face looking everywhere in confusion.
“Killian!” I shouted his name.
And, he snapped his head towards the top of the stairs where I stood with a bloody Ethan sagging down my arms.
He ran up quickly, holding Ethan’s other arms as he carried him down the stairs with me.
I could barely comprehend what happened during our drive to the hospital, but I knew Ethan was admitted into the operating theatre the moment we got there.
I could not seat, so I stood.
I had no idea how many hours had passed since he had been in there.
That was until Killian came to my side handing me a cup of water.
“Drink, Aveline,” he muttered but I barely looked at him,
I was too scared to turn my head away from the operating room Ethan was in, then he sighed.
“Nothing is going to happen to him.
Ethan is strong, Aveline.”
His words finally snapped my attention.
I turned to him, my lips quivering with tears in my eyes as I whispered my question.
“Ethan is not going to die?”
He shook his head, offering me a small smile.
“No, he won’t,” he answered.
A warm tear slipped down my cheeks.
I must have been in too much shock when Ethan was admitted because I knew my tears had dried up the moment we landed in the hospital.
“B…bu…but his body was so cold.
He did not have any pulse, Killian,” I choked out, my shoulders shaky and my voice hoarse from how hard I had cried with Ethan in my arms back at the mansion.
From how long I had screamed from him to get up.
Killian’s hands held my shoulders softly as he wiped my tears away from my cheeks.
“But he was admitted when we got here wasn’t he?
He had no pulse yet he was not pronounced dead dead the moment we brought him him.
Do you know what that means?” He asked me softly, and I shook my head.
“It means Ethan still has life in him, Aveline.
He is not going to die,” he breathed, and I completely broke down.
My hands wrapped around him, holding him so tight that I was scared to let go, and I buried my face in his chest.
My should shaky ftom my cries.
“Ethan can’t die, Killian.
He just can’t…” I repeated those words over abd over again.
That was until I heard the operating room door open, and I pushed myself away from Killian rushing to the door.
I watched as the lights were turned off, and then, the doctors stepped out.
“H…how is Ethan?
Is he okay, please tell me,” I pleaded just like I had been doing the past how many hours.
The doctor sighed, and my heart completely dropped.
It was a surprise I was still on my feet.
“The surgery was successful.
It was good you brought him here on time, because his blood vessel was completely ruptured, and he could have bled to death.
And his wounds, they were deep and infected, but we were able to remove the infected layers and stitch it.
But madam, There is something you should know,” the doctor said.
And I shook my head in anxiousness, telling him to continue because I was too overwhelmed to speak.
“Mr Blackwood's wounds do not look like it was an accident,” he said, and my lips parted as I gasped in shock.
“Are you saying they are in…”
“Yes, they were made intentionally.
And if my theories are right, they are self-inflicted wounds.
And with the shape of the sores I’ll say they are caused by a whip.
Some are older than the others, so I have to think this has been going on for a very long time,” he said and I barely feel anything again.
I just stood frozen, watching him.
“For now, Ethan is out of harm.
His anesthesia should have worn off.
But sometimes when patients do not wake up from a surgery it could only mean two things.
One they’ll slip into a coma.
And two, they do not want to wake up.
Maybe they have convinced their brain that they should be dead.”
