Chapter 28 ~ Valerie's POV

After ending my call with Dante, I had a mix of emotions in me as I was happy because he was spending time with his parents, Mr and Mrs blaze, and at the same, I was sad because I wouldn't be seeing him again today.

But I had to quit these selfish thoughts of everything because my ankles were killing me. So I remained on my bed as I lay still.

Then suddenly, my phone rang out, and I stretched out my hand by my side to pick it up.

Taking it, I vertically placed the phone as I checked the caller ID only to discover it was an unknown number.

"Who could this be?" I said, questioning myself on the caller's identity, while the phone ringing persisted.

Having a doubtful mind, I didn't know what to do, whether to respond to the call or ignore it.

But my curiosity won me over, as I answered the call.

"Hello," I said.

But I heard nothing from the other end.

"Hello-ooo," I uttered again, elongating my tone.

Still, I got nothing and then I decided to end the call.

As I was about to click on the call end button, suddenly I heard a voice, "Hello Valerie,"

OMG, I can't believe my ears, isn't that Raymond's voice, I wanted to be sure if I heard the wrong voice.

"Hello Valerie," The voice said again.

"Raymond!" I confronted the heard voice.

"Yes, it's Raymond, babe, Gosh have missed you," He proclaimed, with his breath heavied from the phone.

"What now, Raymond, what do you want?" I asked with a frown on my face.

"Come on now, Valerie, don't act cold to me," he said to me, trying to be all cozy with me.

"How did you even get hold of my number?" I questioned as my anger couldn't be contained within me.

"Oh Valerie, stop acting up, I know you miss me just as I miss you," He proceeded with his words.

I scoffed in disgust as irritation was beginning to wear on me, so I hung up the call with so much anger, raging within me.

"I can't believe this, why on earth would Raymond, my ex-lover call me, when I am just starting to find my happiness in Dante, Gosh, why is the universe against me now?" I lamented, unable to contain my annoyance.

Suddenly, my room door opened, and I heard my mother's voice, the moment she walked in.

"Who are you arguing with?" My mother asked with concern on her face.

"It's nothing ma, just work stuff, I am I promise," I said to her feigning my all-is-good smile.

"Alright Honey, if you need me or want to talk, you know I am always here to listen," my mother uttered, assuring me to find solace in her if nothing goes right.

"Definitely Mom, love you," I said to her, raising her voice as she took a step to leave my room.

And the moment, she left with my door closed, I returned to my initial countenance.

Saying to myself, "I'm lost on what to think about now, I should call Anna,"

Then I took my phone and dialed her number, instantly the call got connected.

"Hello babe, it's an emergency," I uttered, going straight to the point.

"Spill it out," she encouraged.

"So Raymond called," I said.

"What? You mean Raymond, Raymond," She quipped.

"Yes, that Raymond, my ex," I confirmed her doubts.

"What does he want?" She let out.

"I don't know but I didn't give him a chance for a long convo, and then I smell problem looming," I confessed to her.

"Yeah, a big problem at that, Girl you know what, ignore him, no matter how many times, he calls you, or texts you even stalks you, ignore him like he is a ghost, he would give up, trust me, it works all the time," she advised.

"Are you sure?" I asked again to be sure.

"Believe me, girl, I am right here for you," She ascertained.

"Okay," I responded as a deep breath followed. And in that instant, I ended the call.

Honestly, I was frightened by the sudden call I got from Raymond but believe you, me, he is not going to come between my present and future which is Dante.

With that, I dropped my phone and moved, as I lay even more comfortably on my bed.

And so, I began my reminiscing on the candle-lit dinner date I had with Dante the following night because not even a returned ex-lover, Raymond can ruin that feeling for me.

Then, the evening of the next arrived, which was a special day for me as I will be spending it with Dante, my beloved Dante Blaze.

He is perfect for me, I believe so because everything feels perfect with him.

So, I got ready in my silky black dress, depicting everything about me of course, though I could still feel some slight pain in my ankle spreading out to my leg but never mind about that, all that matters is Dante and I spending the night together with maximum satisfaction.

Then I sat on my bed, patiently waiting for his call, waited and waited.

Finally, I heard my phone chiming only to find out it was his name showing on the caller's ID.

"Hey handsome," I uttered with so much elation in my tone.

"Are you ready?" He asked.

"Yes I am, being waiting for you for some time now," I responded, as I sightly bit my lower lips with my lips colored in blood red lipstick and my hair perfectly styled.

Suddenly I heard a car horn hooting loudly, and I had to move closer to my window to check whose car is it.

"I'm here," He said to me while still on the call with him.

"I will be there in a jiffy," I told him as I ended the call and headed out of my room and walked out of my apartment with my mom in her room.

Reaching outside, I walked slowly and elegantly as I arrived at the spot where he parked his car.

Then he came out of his car to open the door for me, and when he did I said to him, "Thank you," giving a soft smile on my face.

I entered and he closed the door as he returned to his side of the car and entered.

With both of us already in the car, he admired, "You look beautiful,"

And I blushed out immediately as I gave my response, "Thank you,"

So he began the car engine and drove us to his destination for the dinner date.
