Ninety nine
Selene's POV
As I stepped into the bar, I was immediately taken aback by its elegance. It was nothing like I had imagined – no rowdy crowd, but rather a sophisticated gathering. Everyone was dressed in dapper suits and engaged in business-like conversations. It was clear that this was a VIP bar, and I couldn't help but feel a bit out of place.
Nervously, I checked my purse to make sure I had enough money for anything I might need. Though I knew it might be expensive, I was relieved to find some change inside. At least I wouldn't be completely empty-handed if the need arose.
As I made my way further into the bar, I noticed that the decor was truly mesmerizing. Soft, warm lights adorned the space, casting a golden glow on the elegant furnishings. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, reflecting shimmering patterns on the polished marble floor. This was definitely not the kind of place I was accustomed to.
As I looked around for my team, the posh surroundings made me feel a bit out of place. I reached for my phone and called Vivian, hoping she could give me some direction. Lucky for me, she answered soon, "Selene?"
"Hey, Vivian, it's Selene! I can't seem to find you guys. Where are you?" I quickly explained, looking around me.
"Oh, I forgot," she gasped. "Don't worry, we're in a private booth. Just wait at the entrance, and I'll have an attendant come to pick you up."
"Oh, thank goodness!" Selene sighed with relief. "I was starting to feel a bit lost here."
"Don't worry, she will come soon."
After she hung up, I found a place to sit and waited, watching the show playing on the stage when a guy approached me with a glass in hand from the other end of the room.
"Hey there, enjoying the show?" he said with a charming smile.
"Yeah, it's pretty nice," I replied, trying to keep the conversation light.
"I couldn't help but notice you standing here all alone. Care for some company?" he asked, his tone suggestive.
"Oh, um, thanks, but I'm just waiting for a friend," I said, feeling a bit uneasy about his advances.
"No worries, I can be your friend for the night. You're too beautiful to be alone," he continued, ignoring my subtle hint.
I tried to be polite and said, "That's nice of you to say, but I'm really fine by myself."
But he persisted, "Come on, don't be shy. I can show you a good time."
"I appreciate it, but I'm not interested," I firmly responded, hoping he'd take the hint this time.
"You're playing hard to get, I like that," he remarked with a cheesy smile, making me even more uncomfortable.
"No, I'm not playing anything. I'm just not interested. Excuse me," I said, trying to excuse myself from the awkward situation.
But he wouldn't let up, insisting, "Don't be like that. You can't resist me."
Feeling frustrated, I replied, "Actually, I can, and I'd appreciate it if you'd respect my boundaries and leave me alone."
He still didn't seem to get and stepped forward with his hand outstretched to grab me. But just when I was starting to feel trapped, an attendant appeared with a smile on her face.
"Ms. Selene?" She called out, and I looked at her. "You're Ms. Selene, right?" She repeated, and I quickly nodded. Within those seconds, I quickly stepped away from the guy, pitting considerable distance between us.
"Ms. Vivian asked me to come fetch you and bring you to the private booth where the team is having dinner," she explained and I couldn't be more grateful by how she explained in detail, indiscreetly announcing that i wasn't alone and I had come with a group of people.
Sure enough, the creep realized he wasn't in an advantage, and he quickly stepped away, walking away from us.
I sighed, relieved, and faced her. "Thank you very much."
She shook her head and smiled. "It's no problem. Next time, call the attention of the staff. We don't condone such behavior, and he will be appropriately dealt with." She paused and gestured toward the hallway. "I'll take you to the private booth now."
I nodded, following her quickly.
