DOMINIC
I stared at my phone as my thumb hovered over the dial button. I had been patient and waited long enough and every minute we wasted was another minute that Raina was in the grasp of that son of a bitch.
Alex wasn’t the only one going crazy. Yes, his wife was in danger but she was my little sister and it felt like I was standing in a land mine because one wrong move or step would make everything explode.
I finally pressed the call button after I let out a determined sigh. The phone didn’t ring more than twice before Carter picked the call.
“It is time,” I said in a low and sharp voice that was filled with no hesitation.
“It’s about damn time,” Carter replied with an exhale like he had been holding his breath for the whole week that Raina had been missing. “I’ll come in with a team, but Dom you have to listen to me and not do anything stupid. You have to wait for my signal before you take any step.”
I didn’t answer. And after a while, I nodded my head but when I realized he couldn’t see me, I spoke into the phone. “Okay.”
There was no time to wait or think twice before taking the next move.
The minute the call ended, I was already in my car, driving through the city like a mad man that had just been left loose.
Cale’s house was sitting on top of a hill like it was some kind of a castle and it towered over every other house on the street. The house was beautiful and well constructed but I wasn’t here to admire its architecture.
Carter’s team was quick and they moved in with a perfect precision with their guns raised as their voices barked incoherent commands—one only trained men would understand.
When they got into the house, Cale tried to act smart and act like he was the victim.
“This is fucking disrespectful? Do you even know who I am?” He yelled as he stepped out of the bathroom with his bathroom wrapped around his waist.
But I wasn’t interested in whatever he had to say or the acts he wanted to put up.
“Bundle him out,” I barked at Carter’s men, already getting angered. “Get his pathetic self out of the house.”
The men got to work and Cale struggled against them, his saliva flying all around as he cursed and threatened to arrest everyone who dared come into his house. But I wasn’t interested in what he had to say so I didn’t stick around to enjoy the show he was freely doing. I already knew what I wanted to do so I headed there.
I walked as fast I could through the house like some kind of possessed mad man. My boots echoed in the air as they stepped on the marble floor. I made sure to check room after room, ensuring that I searched each properly until I found exactly what I was looking for.
I finally got to a room that had a huge and heavy oak door gayraring it and it was locked tight.
Bingo. The master’s bedroom which means it must also be his room.
I kicked the door open and drew out the gun Carter had given me earlier. The place looked exactly like who it belonged to.
It looked arrogant and it had oak wood furnitures, silk sheets and wine bottles that were half empty on the bedside table.
I went through the drawers, opened all the closet doors, threw aside the suits, shoes and other clothes in the wardrobe. I turned the whole room upside down, throwing out things I couldn’t even recognize until I found it.
There was a steel safe, hidden behind the beside table and it was an in wall panel.
I didn’t bother trying to crack the code by guessing it, I tossed my hand, aimed the gun and fired at it.
The deafening sound of the gunshot echoed through the air in the room and beyond as smoke rose from the now broken lock.
Carter’s voice rang into my head form the earpiece he had given to me earlier. “What the fuck are you doing?”
I gave no response.
The door of the safe slowly opened, letting out a squeaky sound. It hung lazily off it hinges and when I pulled it open even further, and it revealed stack upon stack of documents, hard drives and even flash drive.
I knelt down and reached inside then I started bring all of it out, my eyes scanning over each and every paper until I saw it and I froze in place.
My face paled and my heart started pounding wildly against my ribcage.
All the proof I needed was right there.
Cale’s signed confessions, different medical reports and even court sealed documents.
I found documents that proved that Cale killed not only my parents but Nathan’s as well.
This was what we needed. It was the key to getting Raina back.
My mouth fell open and I couldn’t beleive what I was reading. How can someone be so cruel to the point that he could kill his own sibling?
My heart fell and my stomach twisted into knots as I read the contents of the documents over and over again.
And I thought that was the worst thing that I could find until my eyes landed on different unlabeled videotapes.
I was curious and wanted to know the content in it so I decide not waste another minute.
“Bring the laptop,” I immediately said into the earpiece, ordering one of the men to bring in the laptop my guy had asked me to carry along with me.
“Yes sir,” the guy on the other hand replied and I impatiently waited for him to arrive.
After what felt like forever, he walked into the room and I thought that Carter would be behind him since he wanted to know what I was doing but to my surprise, the guy was alone.
I pushed the thoughts aside, grabbed the laptop from the man and went to seat on the bed before I dropped the laptop in front of me and shoved the videotape into the laptop.
At first the videos were just boring clips on when Cale was much younger and his day to day life, I skipped most of it and was about to give up when a different part of the video started rolling out.
Fuck! What?
No. God, no.
This wasn’t any of what I had expected to see. I knew Cale was vile but not this much.
Cale’s face filled the screen, it was a younger version of him, but as twisted and cold as the under version.
Behind him a woman was screaming as he set up the camera, he moved away and stalked towards the woman.
It was Nathan’s mother and beside him, his father who was tied up, battered and bloodied as he knelt on the floor.
I watch the video and how he had been smiling like a sick man as he forced himself on Nathan’s mother, raped her, beaten her and used her to his satisfaction.
The woman was still lying on the floor, barely conscious when Cale had pulled out a gun and shot her in the head.
Nathan’s faurger turned red with rage and he got up as he charger towards Cale but before he could take another step forward, Cale shot the man in the head too, blowing his brains out.
He killed them both and he recorded it like a goddamn trophy.
My hands trembled as I pulled the drive out of the laptop’s port. I forgot how to breathe, hell, I couldn’t understand what was going on with me. I wanted to scream, I wanted to punch something, I wanted to cry all at once. But I didn’t have anytime for that, I couldn’t let such a cruel and vile man remain free for any longer.
I got up from the bed and stormed out of the room, my hands balled into fist and my blood boiling.
“This is surely the key to putting that man behind bar forever,” I whispered to myself. “It’s finally time to put an end to all of this.”
I didn’t wait for Carter to decide what was next or to release an official statement.
I called the press myself.
By the end of the days, it was the headline on every news station channel.
CALE OSBORN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO THR GRAHAM AND PRICE FAMILY MURDERS.
And under it all, my name—Dominic Graham was back on the news for the public to see.
I was one of the surviving heirs of my parent’s and I was the whistleblower—the one that had given all the information to the news. I was the one who tore Cale and his empire down.
I didn’t just do it because I wanted to justice to prevail, it was also a bait.
I knew Nathan would be watching and I needed to see him. I did it to draw him out.
So when all was done, I went home and I water patiently for his signal.
Two days passed and nothing.
I was pacing around the living room like a cages animal that had nothing better to do. Alex was out in the city again, going from one ghost lead to another as he tried his hardest to find where they were possibly holding Raina.
Faith stayed close to us, trying to help us as best as she could but remained silent. She missed Raina too and it was taking a toll on all of us.
I was boiling, Nathan didn’t show and neither did he call.
The day was going by quickly and I was about to give up when my phone suddenly rang out of nowhere.
A number I didn’t recognize flashed across the screen and even though I was skeptical, I still answered the call.
“Where is it?” Nathan barked immediately I put the phone to my ear. There was no greeting, no pleasantries, just a rude question. “I saw the headline on the news, why is there no estate under either you or Raina’s name? Where the fuck did you move all the properties to? I want to know!”
So that was it? He wasn’t calling regarding Cale’s crime but because of his need for power? And the fact that he didn’t have access to the properties he thought he owned.
“Before I answer all of that,” I started, my voice icy cold. “Have you ever thought or wanted to know who it is that killed your parents?”
Silence. He didn’t have a response.
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
“Did you know that Cale not only raped your mother but did other vile things to her?” I continued, each of my words as sharp as knives. “After he had his way with her, he beat her up, slowly sliced her slin with sharp knives and then shot her in the head while your father was forced to watch it all? Do you know that he proceeded to kill your father after all of that when he tried to stop him? And it’s all on tape too.”
“It’s a lie. You’re a fucking liar,” Nathan yelled through the phone. “You’re spewing nothing but jargons.”
I didn’t argue, instead I turned up my laptop, cropped a clip of what happened and sent it to him.
The other end was silent and I almost thought that he had hung up when I heard him let out a raw, animalistic scream.
It was so loud that it pierced through the speaker and started ringing in my head.
I didn’t react nor was I moved.
“Where the fuck is the rest of the clip?” He asked.
“Now that you know that Cale is the real killer and you want the rest,” I said in a low voice. “If you really want it then you will bring Raina to me, give her back and I’ll give you everything you need. The videos, papers, all of it. Just name it.”
His breathing was unsteady and heavy now and I could hear him walking around where he was.
“Where should I come meet you?”
“I’ll send you the location now. Meet me there in an hour and don’t bring any of your men. If I see anyone aside you and Raina there, I’ll destroy the drive,” I replied, my voice low and determined, knowing that I was not the one in control. “You’ll give Raina back and I’ll give you whatever you need.”
With that, I ended the call, not waiting for him to give a reply.
