107. Jealous

107. Jealous
My brother smiled.

"Don't worry, if they're leaving, we'll go after them," he said sympathetically.

I raised an eyebrow.

"Seriously? I thought you didn't repeat," I joked. "And now you want to go after a girl? What happened to 'if I've seen you once, I don't remember you'?"

"I like her like no other, but you know what women want from us," he chuckled.

Being in our position was sometimes a curse. You never knew when or who might stab you in the back. Women's eyes lit up when they knew you had money.

"I want to take it slow with her, get to know her, see how things go," he nodded. He was right to take it slow if he wasn't sure.

"If she's still around tomorrow, we can meet up for dinner or drinks around 4," he patted my shoulder. "I haven't seen you in quite some time," he reminded me.

My brother and I got along very well, but we had both been immersed in work, unable to find anything else that motivated us more. Now I had found it: my precious goddess, and I had seen her displeased face because of my controlling nature.

But I wouldn't let my possessive jealousy ruin her vacation.

I saw Margaret enter with her things in hand.

"Babe, should we think about leaving too?" I asked as I took the bag from her hand.

"Of course, I'll say goodbye to your family, and we'll go," she seemed more upbeat.

She hugged Kate.

"Goodbye, sister-in-law," Yarik gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek.

We said goodbye to my parents, friends, and Katia, with whom she arranged to hang out when she moved here.

We got into the car, and the driver merged into traffic.

"I really like your family now, Nikolay," she smiled broadly.

"They've liked you too," well, after getting past all their prejudices, now they adored her.

I was glad she had enjoyed herself; my family loved family gatherings, they always got together for any reason. I had always made excuses with work, but now I had a great time and enjoyed sharing with them.

Before, I didn't have Margaret in my life to make me enjoy the good things in life, like a hug from your mother, or a fun family dinner.

It will be hard to be without her when she leaves.

"Babe, when are you going on vacation?"

"Saturday morning, and I'll be back Friday afternoon."

Seven days! That's a lot.

"I'm going to miss you," I sat her on my lap and she wrapped her arms around my neck.

"I will too," I saw her eyes shining again.

She ran her fingers through my hair, and we melted into a kiss of love and passion, saying everything with our caresses.

We needed to get to know each other better, and only time could fix that. I knew I loved her, and she loved me, and that was enough for me to keep moving forward and fight for this relationship.

…

Margaret

The week of vacation had been wonderful for me; I had enjoyed myself with Katia and her friend Kate, both of whom were very fun, but I was missing Nikolay like crazy.

"Margo, put that phone down," Katia scolded me, looking at me reproachfully. "He's surely fine, just relax and enjoy yourself."

I tried to listen to her, but I couldn't shake the idea that he was in imminent danger, although I tried to push it out of my mind because I didn't want to seem paranoid. I mean, we were in Barbados for God's sake!

"Alright, I'm coming," I put my phone down and didn't turn it on. Katia wouldn't let me, and I was sure Nikolay would be beside himself for not answering his constant calls.

The sun was soothing, the music infectious, and the smell of salt refreshed me, so I lay back on the lounger and closed my eyes, letting myself be carried away by the desire to rest from everything.

I woke up because I felt the breeze had gotten stronger. I was startled when I noticed I was alone, and I went to my things to turn on my phone. As I suspected, there were hundreds of missed calls from Nikolay, in addition to thousands of messages demanding my whereabouts.

I swallowed hard and was about to reply when I felt someone breathing down my neck, making me immediately apprehensive.

"Hello, Margo," his voice sent chills down my spine, and I jumped, hoping not to hurt my belly in the process.

"What are you doing here?" I looked at him with wide eyes, swallowing uncomfortably.

Nikolay seemed as red as a Christmas light bulb; the comparison would have been funny if I didn't know the reason for his anger.

"Can you tell me why you disappeared for days without answering my calls, Margaret?" He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to control himself. "Do you have any idea of the anguish I went through?"

I bit my lip and looked around, searching for my sister-in-law and my friend, but they were nowhere to be found, the traitors.

"I was fine," I shrugged, trying to sound indifferent. "You see, I'm in one piece, aren't I? Besides," I furrowed my brow, remembering something, "you said you wouldn't come and let me enjoy my vacation."

I was trying to put on a haughty and reproachful attitude, but it wasn't working; his eyes seemed to be emitting fire.

"That was before you disappeared for three days without a word," he said through clenched teeth. "I had to sort out some things, and that's why I couldn't come earlier, and now I find out I've ruined your vacation by worrying about you."

Now he seemed hurt, and that made me even more uncomfortable than his angry or accusing gaze.

"I'm sorry," I said softly, clearing my throat. "I shouldn't have done that, and I'm sorry for making you worry like that."

"I love you so much, darling," he said, and I smiled shyly. "I was truly about to go crazy."

"Do you want to stay these two days left of vacation? There's space in my bed," I bit my lip, and he gave me a smile.

"I don't want to inconvenience you, darling. I have work to do. I was going to suggest you come back with me, but if you're really having such a good time, I don't think I should interfere. I'd love to, but..."

"I understand. I hope you're alright then at work," I gave him a more cheerful smile.

"Alright, I'll be waiting for you then, baby. I have to go work for a few hours, but call me if you need me, okay?"

I nodded with a smile and leaned in to kiss him. He hugged me tightly and kissed my belly. I smiled and stroked his hair.

He left alone, after making sure his sister and Kate were coming back. The two of them looked at him in amazement, and after apologizing profusely, he left, leaving us alone.

Although now that I had seen him, my desire and longing to be in his arms had tripled by a hundredfold.
