Meet Her

Meet Her
Arthur's point of view

A heat radiated through me, the kind of heat that rushed through each part of your muscles, spreading an emotion of happiness.
I doubt if any words can do justice to how I am feeling right now. A whole month passed without seeing her face—a whole fucking month felt like I was losing my brains, and when I got the chance to, it felt like my soul was going to leave my body, fear gripping my whole being.
I thought she'd push me away like she did the other day, but unexpectedly, I was welcomed by a hug, not just a hug but a warm, tight hug that made my heart race once again.
Realization hit me harder than a ton of bricks. __ I couldn't live without her; like my heart, she's become a part of me I can't live without, and I'm willing to spend the rest of my life devoted to her and become the man she ever dreamed of.
“I'm ready to go back to our home sweet home.”
The sound of Evelyn's voice brought me out of my thoughts. For some unknown reason, it felt different. This Evelyn was different, not in a bad way, and I loved this version of her. Something about her has changed.
“Let's go home then, dear wifey.”
I walked to her, draped my arm over her shoulder, and the two of us began making our way out of the hospital.
We were done with all the paperwork, and I'd been waiting for Evelyn to finish getting her things inside.
As we stepped outside, the warmth of the sun hit our skin. The sun hung low in the sky, radiating the whole place, and the sky was blue and beautiful. Suddenly the weather was stunning, something I didn't even notice when I was coming here.
A smile stretched across my lips as I glanced at the woman beside me. Everything becomes dull whenever she isn't around, and once she's around, even the colorless water becomes beautiful. She's the woman who held the key to my heart, the queen who ruled it like it's nobody's business.
As we reached the car, I swung the door, and she stepped inside the car. I walked around the car, swung the door, and stepped inside.
“Did you get to see Priscar?”
My temperature rose at Evelyn's question. Just the mention of her name sent a sour taste in my mouth; God knows how I felt about that woman.
“Arthur __”
Evelyn pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned to her and placed my hand on her thighs.
“How about we don’t talk about her? I know she's your mom and all, but I don't want to ruin this beautiful moment by talking about her.”
Evelyn placed her hand on mine, her warmth sending a shiver down my spine.
“I've forgiven her for everything she's ever done to me… I know she's a villain in my life, but I decided to let go of all the anger and hatred, but that doesn't mean I'm going to bring her back in my life; I'm just asking about her as I'd do with any other human being. “
My lips parted, but I couldn't utter a word, momentarily shocked at what she just said. I knew that Evelyn was impulsive and all, but this—I never expected this from her.
“Do you think I've made a mistake?”
She asked, her voice hesitant.
I shook my head immediately. “Of course not, I'm proud of you, Evelyn. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to make, but you made it, and I'm truly happy that you've finally left the past behind.”
I'm happy for her, but I can't say the same about that woman; I'd never forgive her for the pain she's caused Evelyn.
“You know, the moment I decided to forgive her, I felt like a heavy weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I feel a lot lighter and… happy. That sense of sadness that was always on my chest disappeared completely.”
Evelyn's eyes twinkled with joy as she spoke; something had changed in her, and it was clear in her face. She finally removed the heavy weight she'd been carrying all her life, and seeing her glowing with happiness made my heart melt. I only loved seeing her so happy because she deserves all of it.
“You've made the right decision, Evelyn, and I'd always support you along the way; all I want is to see you happy…”
I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Evelyn rested her head on my shoulder, her hand holding mine.
“Now we'd start our lives afresh, filled with nothing but happiness… After all we've been through, we deserve all the good things that will come in our lives. "Evelyne's voice is barely above a whisper; I smoothed her hair gently. God knows how I felt seeing her so positive about our future happiness. I swear I'd prefer this version of her more, not that I didn't love all her versions, but this one was positive about our future, and that brought joy to my heart.
“I'd love to meet with Priscar.“
I froze at Evelyn's words. There's no way I'm going to allow her to meet that woman after what she went through because of her. She almost lost herself because of her, and I don't. I'm happy with the fact that she wanted to meet that woman.
“Evelyn, I think we should go home first… You need to rest; you can meet her some other time.”
I won't allow her to meet her; she won't insist on meeting that woman at all. I had just gotten her back, and I'm honestly not going to allow her to meet that woman again.
“Arthur, I understand why you don't want me to meet her, but it is something I want to do. Please don't make it harder than it is for me.”
I exhaled deeply, trying to keep my emotions under control. If she wants to meet her, then I don't think I have many choices here except allowing her to do it if that's what she wants.
