Marry Me
Marry Me
Arthur's point of view
Of course Evelyn was going to try and get the truth out of this woman, and it must be a very good idea to get her to tell the truth, but it also wasn't a good idea because this woman will get angry and release that video, and that was something I wasn't going to allow. I'm not going to allow Evelyn to see that video or anyone else because I knew it was going to break her and she'd never heal from this.
“Release her!!”
I ordered a group of my men; they swiftly rushed to where Priscar was, but Evelyn blocked them.
“What the fuck do you think you are doing, Arthur? What the fuck are you doing here, huh?”
Evelyn's sharp voice sliced through the air as her intense gaze locked with mine, flickering with rage.
I swear I don't enjoy making her this angry, but my hands were tied from both sides, and there's absolutely nothing I can do.
“Evelyn, the woman you kidnapped is pregnant, and I won't allow you or anyone else to harm her or her child.”
I forced words out of my mouth. A sharp throbbing pain rushed through my chest at the pained look she threw at me.
“Oh yeah! You are here to save your mistress and your child. What a gentleman you are!”
Evelyn's voice dripped with sarcasm.
“Well, if you think I'm a monster who would harm a pregnant woman, then go ahead… Take your mistress with you.”
She moved out of the way, allowing my guards to rush to Priscar and untie her hands and feet.
Evelyn began making her way to me; she stood a few steps away, and our eyes met. “I will find out the truth, Arthur, and once I do, I will make sure you pay for making a fool out of me.”
She whispers, with one last glance. She walked out of the room, and Melinda followed behind her.
I swallowed painfully hard as I watched her walk away. I hated this tension between us—the lies, the anger, and the frustration. I wished I could end it all by telling her the truth, but it wasn't easy for me to lie to her. I had to save her at all costs, and I'd do anything even if it meant she hates me in the process. I won't mind.
“My daughter is so lucky to have a wise man like you…”
Priscar’s voice brought me out of my thoughts. I snapped my gaze in her direction.
She was on her feet, trying to find her hair.
A smirk tugged at my lips as my eyes fell on the side of her other cheek; it was so brightly red that it was visible that she had been slapped not so long ago.
'That's my girl's handwork…’
A feeling of pride filled my chest as my gaze lingered on her cheeks. I swear I wanted her to do worse to this woman, but unfortunately I had no choice but to watch her do as she pleased.
“It's a pity that I'm going to break your little marriage apart…”
I scoffed at her words. She was indeed so delusional; for her sake, I hope she uses the same brains to cross the road.
“My wife trusts me more than you can imagine, and one way or the other trust is going to come out, and I will make sure you regret it.”
Priscar laughed at my words. “Unfortunately that little trust is going to break because I want you to ask her for a divorce and get married to me!”
And now it was my turn to laugh at her words. She must have lost her mind completely and think she has crossed the line.
“You are joking, right?”
Priscar’s face flushed, but she tried to hide her anger behind a fake smile.
“What makes you think I'd leave my wife for an old hag like you, huh? Have you forgotten that you are getting old? You should look in the mirror for some time and stop being so delusional.”
This felt like the most cruel joke I've ever heard. There's no fucking way I'm going to ever get married to this woman. It was just a matter of time before I found that video and got her out of our lives for good.
“I'm not joking with you, and you only have 24 hours to divorce Evelyn and announce our wedding to the media. I want the whole city to know that we are getting married, and I'm expecting your child…”
I shook my head in disbelief. This woman was beyond crazy. She needed help—she's mentally unstable.
Why the fuck would she think I'd get married to her of all people? She was nearly my mother's age, for fuck’s sake, and there's no way I'm going to marry her. I'd rather die than divorce Evelyn and marry her.
I was ready to lunge at her, but Jad grabbed my arm, stopping me from taking another step.
“She's clearly provoking you… Don't fall into her trap; she's a walking corpse. Don't let her die in your head.”
He muttered under his gritted teeth.
I balled my hand into a fist, trying hard to control my emotions. She knows exactly how to make a person angry; she pushed my limits so far that I could barely control myself. What kind of a fucked-up, emotionally damaged person was she?
Her heart was darker than any other person I've ever seen, and I hope she heals from whatever shit she was going through because this is definitely not normal. She needs help.
“See you after 24 hours…”
Jad pulled me out of the basement with him. I can only be grateful for his presence tonight, or else only God knows what I could have done to that woman. I don't even want to imagine it.
“Arthur, at this point we have a lot at stake, and I think you should tell Evelyn the truth, or else you are going to lose her forever.”
Jad released my arm.
I let out a deep breath, leaning against the car.
He's right, but I don't want her to know this truth, especially after what she almost did. She almost killed herself, and I don't know what would happen if she knew about that video; she'd lose her mind completely.
