Happy
The end Of Book 2
Arthur's point of view
Warmth spread in my chest as my gaze locked with Evelyn, the kind of warmth that brought nothing but happiness to my chest. Seeing her so happy made me feel like I've made it in life as a man, because this is all I wanted to see—her so happy like her chest was going to burst out of happiness.
“Man, just look at how happy they are!”
Jad draped his arm over, his gaze on Evelyn, Melinda, and the kids.
“I don't know how to explain how I feel right now… This is so beautiful to watch.”
I muttered. I've always wished that Evelyn and I find happiness after everything we've been through and seeing them like this made me—man, there are no words that will do justice to how I'm feeling right now—I've always dreamed of feeling this way since I was a kid and now I'm watching my dream become true, and I'm still unable to believe it's all happening…
Time turned into into a blur; days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, and the doctors and physician worked hard to make sure Evelyn was getting the best attention she needed so she'd recover, and she was doing a great job. I won't lie, step by step she was getting there…
Our kids were sad at the beginning, but now they are starting to open up about everything they went through, and Evelyn and I made sure they healed from that terrible nightmare.
For once in my life everything was going according to my liking. My kids were happy, and my wife is happy; it felt like a huge achievement to me.
We decided to buy ourselves a new bigger house to live in, and Evelyn and I had to beg Melinda to move in with us. There's nothing better than Evelyn living with her sister. I think she needed a friend beside her, someone whom she'd be able to share her emotions with.
Not that she can't share them with me, but sometimes there might be things she can't share with me, but her sister would be there.
And because Henry and Ellen were fond of Jad, they didn't allow him to go back to his house and asked him to live with us. Of course, he wanted to refuse, but they created a scene, leaving him with no choice, and honestly, I don't mind him staying with us. He's more like a brother to me and I too wanted him around and maybe he might help me raise my son. As far as I remember, he wanted nothing to do with marriage so that might be the reason why he gave in so easily.
My phone rang with a new notification, bringing me out of my thoughts.
I shifted my attention to the table where the phone is. I leaned closer and grasped it in my hand. It was a new message from Evelyn.
I tapped on the message.
Evelyn:Hi, dear husband. I have a surprise for you. Please come home earlier tonight.
A smile spread across my lips, wondering what the surprise was.
Me:You know I don't like surprises, but since it's from you. I'm intrigued. Just tell me what it is!
I pressed the send button after typing the message. I waited for her message, and my phone rang with a new message after a few minutes.
Evelyn: If I tell you now, it won't be a surprise, will it? Just come home early tonight and see what the surprise is.
Me: It's fine, since you refused to tell me what the surprise is. I will be home early.
I pressed the send button, and another message came in less than a minute.
Evelyn: Sure, see you tonight.
A chuckle escaped my lips. I won't be able to wait tonight; I'm going home right now and seeing what surprise she has for me.
Packing my things in my briefcases, I grabbed my car keys and cell phone before I began making my way out.
I ran to Jad, who furrowed upon seeing me.
“Where are you going so early?”
He asked, his tone laced with confusion.
“I'm going home; my wife has a surprise for me, and I'm going to see what it is.”
I said, standing before him.
He narrowed his eyes. “We have a lot of work to do, Arthur; you can't just leave because your wife has a surprise for you.”
I shrugged. “Well, I'm leaving. Since you have no wife, please do all the work.”
Jad’s jaws tensed. “You asshole!” he muttered under his gritted teeth. “Just because I have no wife doesn't mean I'm going to do all your dirty work.”
I patted his shoulder slightly. “Unfortunately you have too. See you tonight at home.”
Jad stared at me, lips parted. But I walked past him and made my way out of the building.

As I stepped into the house, I was welcomed by silence. Ellen and Henry were currently at school; Melinda must have gone to the office, which meant Evelyn was home alone, but where is she?
I made my way upstairs to our room, my brows furrowed as I pushed the door open and was welcomed with nothing but darkness.
I fumbled my fingers on the walls until I found the switch and lit the room.
“Surprise!”
I didn't get a moment to register what was happening before Evelyn leaped in my arms. I quickly held her, making sure she didn't fall.
“I knew you'd come home before tonight…”
Evelyn giggled as I held her in my arms, her legs wrapped around my waist. The final realization hit me harder than I'd imagined.
Evelyn can walk again; her legs have healed completely.
“Oh my goodness, Evelyn, your legs are just fine!”
“Yes, I can walk again. I've healed completely and it's all because of you.”
“Nonsense. This was all because of you. You made sure to work hard so you would heal and I'm so happy for you.” It's all because of us then.”
I couldn't help but chuckle.
“I love you, Evelyn!”
“I love you more!”
Our lips found each other in a smoothing kiss, leaving us lost in our own world. A world that was filled with nothing but our never-ending love for each other.
