CHAPTER 125
Next Time You Won't Be So Lucky
Anna's fingers closed around the pillow with practiced calm.
She lifted Daniel's head—gentle, almost tender and slid the pillow beneath it, adjusting until his neck rested at a natural angle.
The heart monitor continued its indifferent beep-beep-beep, the only witness.
She took two deliberate steps back from the bed and turned to Camille, expression soft, unruffled.
“I hope you don’t mind,” she said casually. “His neck looked a little crooked. I just wanted to make him more comfortable.”
Camille blinked, surprise melting into a small, grateful smile.
“Mind? No—not at all. I'm just… shocked. After everything he’s done to you—to all of us, I never expected you to go out of your way to help him.”
Anna shrugged one shoulder, voice even. “I saw someone who needed adjusting. I adjusted him. Who he is or what he’s done doesn’t change basic human decency in the moment.”
Camille stepped closer, warmth flooding her eyes. “Still… you’re pregnant, Anna. You should be resting, not playing nurse in here. This is my job. Mine and the nurse’s.”
Anna’s smile turned gentle. “You’re pregnant too, Camille. You need rest just as much. You shouldn’t be chained to these four walls every single day.”
Camille gave a small, helpless laugh. “What else would I even do outside them?”
Anna tilted her head. “A million things. Register for prenatal yoga—there’s a studio downtown that’s supposed to be amazing. Get a fresh haircut, treat yourself to a full-body massage at that spa on Madison. Go shopping for baby clothes. Tiny socks with ruffles. Little onesies with animal ears. You’re young, beautiful, carrying a new life. You deserve to feel alive outside this room.”
Camille’s eyes shimmered. Anna stepped forward, voice dropping to something reverent.
“Not many women could do what you’re doing right now. Most would have walked away—signed divorce papers while he was still unconscious and never looked back. But you stayed.
You’re still here, caring for him with your whole heart. I don’t know many strong women in my life…” Anna paused, letting the words settle. “But you’ve got to be the strongest one I’ve ever met.”
Camille’s breath hitched. Tears welled, then spilled.
“Thank you,” she whispered. “That means more than you know. Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning in guilt for even thinking about leaving. Hearing you say that… it makes me feel seen. Like maybe I’m not crazy for staying.”
Anna smiled, casting a fleeting glance at Daniel—cold enough to frost glass—before returning her gaze to Camille.
“We’re nothing like him, you and I. I’ve never been the type to repay evil with evil. It only breeds more hate, more chaos—an endless, ugly circle that swallows everything good. I refuse to let that darkness touch me. Or you. Not anymore.”
Camille’s composure cracked. She closed the distance and wrapped her arms around Anna in a fierce, trembling hug. “You have the purest soul,” she murmured against Anna’s shoulder. “And the kindest heart. Thank you for being here. For seeing me.”
Anna hugged her back, arms steady and warm.
Over Camille’s shoulder her eyes locked on Daniel—pure venom.
Inside her head the thought was a low, theatrical hiss, dripping with malice.
You should thank Camille on bended knee for the mercy she’s shown you, you pathetic husk.
But next time… next time you won't be so lucky. I promise you that.
Much later that night the bedroom was hushed, lit only by the soft glow of the desk lamp in the adjoining study.
The air carried faint traces of William’s cologne—citrus and cedar and the distant city hum filtering through closed windows.
Anna leaned against the study doorframe, arms crossed, watching him.
William sat at the desk, sleeves rolled to his elbows, laptop screen bathing his face in cool blue light. His glasses perched low on his nose as he typed.
“We just got home,” she said quietly. “And you’re already leaving again. It's not fair.”
He looked up, expression softening. “Just a quick trip. New clients in London. I'll be back in a week.”
“A whole week is too long.” She pushed off the frame, stepping closer. “I was hoping for more time with you. Just us.”
William closed the laptop with a soft click. “I want nothing more than to spend every waking second with you—probably more than you want it with me.”
His grin flashed. “Once this deal’s locked, I’m all yours. No more trips for a while.”
Anna’s smile bloomed wide. “You mean that?”
He beckoned her with two fingers. “Come here.”
She crossed the room gladly. He pulled her onto his lap, she settled sideways, legs draped over the arm of the chair.
William pressed a slow kiss to the side of her neck. She giggled, tilting her head to give him better access.
“Every word,” he murmured against her skin.
Anna turned in his lap until she straddled him, knees bracketing his hips. She reached up, gently lifted his glasses off, and tossed them onto the desk behind her with a soft clatter.
“Maybe you can start saying goodbye right now,” she whispered, voice low and sultry, lips brushing his ear.
“Make it slow… make it last… so I can feel you every second you’re gone.”
William’s hands settled on her waist, thumbs stroking slow circles over the silk of her nightdress.
“You don’t have to tell me twice, baby.”
She tugged his shirt up inch by inch, savoring the reveal of warm skin, the ridges of muscle under her palms.
When it cleared his head she let it fall forgotten to the floor. Then she leaned in, kissing him deeply—unhurried, deliberate.
Lips parted, tongues met in languid strokes, tasting, teasing.
William’s hand slid to the back of her neck, holding her exactly where he wanted, kissing her harder, deeper, until she was breathing his air.
She rocked forward—slow, deliberate—grinding her wet heat against the thickening ridge beneath his slacks.
He groaned low into her mouth, the sound vibrating through her chest. The friction was delicious, building heat between them layer by layer.
His free hand slipped beneath the hem of her nightdress.
Fingers traced the soft skin of her inner thigh, higher, until he found nothing but slick warmth. No panties. Just her—wet, swollen, already dripping for him.
He cursed softly against her mouth. “Jesus, Anna…”
She pulled back just enough to kiss along his jaw, down the column of his throat, across his chest—slow open-mouthed kisses, tongue flicking over a soft nipple until it pebbled.
“Didn't want anything getting in the way,” she whispered, nipping lightly at his collarbone. “Wanted you to feel how much I need you tonight.”
“Good girl,” he growled, the praise sending a fresh rush of heat through her core.
William held up two fingers to her lips. Anna took them without hesitation—sucking slow and deep, tongue swirling around the digits, eyes locked on his.
She hollowed her cheeks, drawing them in further, mimicking exactly what she planned to do to him later. His hips jerked beneath her, he groaned low in his throat.
When the fingers emerged glistening with her saliva he slid them between her thighs, parting her folds, circling clit once—twice—before pushing inside.
Anna moaned, head falling forward onto his shoulder as he filled her—two thick fingers curling against that perfect spot, thrusting slow and deep at first, letting her feel every inch.
She gripped his shoulders, nails digging in, watching his hand disappear between her legs. “Liam… yes… just like that…”
He added a third finger. The stretch burned sweet—pleasure edged with delicious pressure that made her gasp.
She loved it. Loved the way he filled her, stretched her, claimed her without mercy.
He thrust harder, faster, thumb circling her clit in tight, relentless strokes. Her breaths came quicker, moans louder, hips rocking to meet every plunge.
“Don't stop,” she basketball, voice trembling. “Please… don’t stop…”
He didn’t. He curled his fingers harder, thumb pressing firm, until the coil inside her snapped.
She came violently—walls pulsing wildly around his fingers, body shaking as she cried his name. “William… oh God… William!”
He drew out her orgasm, stroking her through every aftershock until she was trembling, oversensitive, boneless against him.
When she finally lifted her head he withdrew slowly, brought his soaked fingers to his mouth, and sucked them clean—eyes darker, never leaving hers.
Anna surged forward, kissing him fiercely, tasting herself on his tongue—salty, intimate, intoxicating.
Still kissing, her hands fumbled with his slacks—button, zipper, freeing his rigid length.
She wrapped her fingers around him, stroking slowly from base to tip, thumb swirling the bead of precum over the head. He groaned raggedly into her mouth, hips lifting into her touch.
Anna pulled back, gaze locked on his. She lifted herself, positioned the thick head at her entrance, and sank down—inch by torturous inch.
They both moaned—low, broken. He stretched her perfectly—delicious pleasure-pain blooming deep in her belly, every ridge and vein pressing against sensitive walls until she was seated fully, him buried to the hilt.
“Fuck…” he breathed, hands clamping on her hips. “So fucking perfect…”
Anna stayed still for a long moment, simply feeling him—thick, hot, throbbing inside her.
Then she began to move—slow rolls of her hips at first, grinding deep, circling so he hit every angle.
William’s hands slid up to cup her breasts, thumbs brushing her nipples through silk before tugging the straps down to bare her completely.
He palmed the soft weight, pinching lightly, rolling the peaks until they were tight and aching.
She rose and fell—slow, deliberate—taking him to the root each time, then lifting until only the head remained inside before sinking back down.
The drag was exquisite, she felt every inch of him sliding in and out, filling her completely.
William thrust up to meet her—harder, deeper—matching her rhythm. Skin slapped softly against skin.
The chair creaked beneath them. She threw her head back, eyes rolling as pleasure coiled tighter and tighter.
“Harder,” she gasped. “William… please—fuck me harder…”
He growled low, hands clamping on her hips like iron. He drove up into her—powerful, relentless—each thrust slamming deep, hitting that spot that made stars burst behind her eyes.
She moaned unabashedly—loud, unrestrained—nails raking down his back, leaving red trails.
William pulled out—slow, deliberate—lifted her like she weighed nothing, and laid her flat on the desk. Papers scattered, a pen rolled to the floor. He shoved back inside her in one brutal stroke.
Anna cried out—pleasure sharp and overwhelming as he fucked her senseless. Long, powerful thrusts that filled her completely, dragging against every sensitive nerve.
One hand braced beside her head, the other hooked under her knee, spreading her wider so he could go deeper.
“Take it,” he rasped, voice wrecked. “Every fucking inch. You’re mine… all mine…”
“Yes—God, yes—don't stop… harder… please…”
She wrapped her legs around his waist, heels digging into his lower back, pulling him deeper. He pounded into her, faster, rougher—desk rocking with every thrust.
Her breasts bounced, he leaned down, sucking one nipple into his mouth, teeth grazing just enough to sting deliciously.
The coil snapped again.
Anna came with a broken cry—walls fluttering wildly around him, body bowing off the desk, nails scoring his shoulders.
“William… ahh… yes…!”
He followed instantly—burying deep, hips grinding, a guttural groan tearing from his throat as he spilled inside her.
Rope after thick rope of semen flooded her, pulsing, filling her until it leaked out around him, slick and warm between them.
They stilled, breathing ragged, foreheads pressed together.
William kissed her temple, her cheek, the corner of her mouth—slow now, reverent.
“I love you,” he whispered, hand splaying protectively over her still-flat stomach.
Anna smiled, sated, happy. “I love you too.”
Inside, the darkness purred, satisfied.
One week. Plenty of time.
