Chapter 200 Winning her back

Chapter 200 Winning her back
Chapter 200: Winning her back

Gigi?” Linda cut in gently. “Relax…”

Golden leaned back, her mind clearly working. “She and Varney…”

“Why are they avoiding me? If I did something wrong…” she started, but trailed off.

Linda looked away briefly.

Golden picked up her glass, taking another shot without waiting.

Linda watched her carefully. Golden let out a breath, setting the glass down harder than necessary.

Linda leaned in slightly, her voice dropping.

“I personally think your marriage to Xander was rushed. Everyone said you only did that to get back at Allan.”

Golden froze. This time, there was no hiding it. Her entire body stilled, her eyes snapping to Linda’s face.

“What? Who’s everyone?” she whispered. “Why would they think that? I forgave Allan and moved on properly. I healed…”

Linda held her gaze, completely serious now.

“It doesn’t look like you’ve moved on.”

Golden’s heart started pounding, the sound loud in her ears.

“How?” she asked, her voice barely steady.

Linda didn’t answer immediately. She leaned back slowly, her expression unreadable now.

“That’s a conversation for another time,” she said calmly.

Golden stared at her, disbelief and frustration flashing across her face.

“You can’t just say that and stop there,” she said.

“I can,” Linda replied simply. “And I just did.”

Golden’s fingers curled slightly against the table.

“Linda—”

“Finish your drink,” Linda interrupted, her tone firm now. “You look like you need it.”

Golden didn’t move. Her mind was racing, trying to connect dots that refused to form a clear picture.

Linda watched her for a moment, then softened slightly.

“You’ll get your answers,” she said quietly. “Just not tonight.”

Golden swallowed, her throat dry. “Just tell me who said that…”

Linda’s lips curved faintly. “Everyone in Ocean City University, Florida…Plus you didn’t even invite anyone to your wedding. Except your best friend.”

Golden sat there, silent, her thoughts spiraling in a hundred different directions.

Linda reached for her glass again, finishing it in one smooth motion.

“Let’s go,” she said, standing. “Before you overthink yourself into a breakdown.”

Golden didn’t argue. She stood slowly, still trying to process everything.

They walked out together, the cool night air hitting them as they stepped outside.

Golden paused for a second, looking up at the sky like she was trying to ground herself.

Linda didn’t say anything.

She simply walked ahead, giving Golden space she clearly needed.

Golden followed after a moment, her mind still far away.

Allan sat alone in his living room. The lights were dim, the silence deliberate.

A glass of whiskey rested in his hand, untouched for the last several minutes. On the wall in front of him hung a framed photograph of Golden. A photograph of when they were still dating.

His gaze stayed fixed on it.

Aj stood a few feet away, watching him quietly.

“You’re thinking too much,” Aj said finally.

Allan didn’t look away. “I’m planning,” he replied.

Aj folded his arms. “Same thing for you.”

Allan took a slow sip of his drink, then set the glass down.

“I miss her,” he said calmly. “I’ve made it now. Why is she being stubborn?”

Aj raised a brow. “Was it really about the money? You fumbled her.”

Allan’s lips curved slightly.

“I will win her back. She’s not as unaffected as she wants everyone to believe.”

Aj exhaled. “She’s married.”

Allan finally looked at him. “And?” he asked.

Aj held his gaze. “That matters.”

Allan stood slowly, adjusting the cuff of his sleeve.

“You took a married woman to the club today.”

Aj shook his head slightly. “It’s different. Golden was your ex. She was very good to you.”

Allan ignored that.

“The point is,” he continued, “she’s not over me.”

Aj let out a short laugh. “Or maybe you’re not over her.”

Allan didn’t respond to that.

Instead, he walked toward the large window, looking out at the city lights below.

“The difference,” he said quietly, “is that I’m doing something about it.”

Aj watched him carefully.

“And what exactly is your plan?” he asked.

Allan’s expression didn’t change.

“To remind her,” he said simply, “why she fell in love with me in the first place.”

Aj didn’t look convinced, but he didn’t argue either.

Allan turned slightly, reaching for his phone.

“Get this done,” he said, handing it over after typing something quickly.

Aj glanced at the screen, then looked up at him.

“You’re serious?”

Allan’s gaze was steady.

“Very.”

Aj nodded slowly. “Alright.”

Allan turned back toward the window.

“And one more thing,” he added.

Aj paused. “Yeah?”

Allan’s voice was calm, controlled.

“Promote her.”

Aj frowned. “To what level?”

Allan didn’t hesitate.

“Right below me.”

Aj stared at him for a second. “That’s going to raise questions.”

Allan’s lips curved slightly. “Let them ask.”

Aj exhaled, shaking his head slightly as he walked out.

Allan remained where he was, his eyes still on the city. The game had already started. And this time, he had no intention of losing her.
