Chapter 104 Crossing the line
Chapter 104: Crossing the Line
Fab knew Golden didn't want to draw any attention to herself so he tried to manage the situation without alerting anyone.
A lot of activities were going on. Kids were running around screaming, the adults were teasing and making fun of each other.
Admist the beautiful chaos, three other persons noticed Golden's discomfort.
Nana Chen the ever observant matriarch noticed immediately Golden entered panic mode. She noticed Fab try to calm Gigi quietly.
Alex noticed something wrong because she was sitted beside Golden and she felt her grip on her leg.
Varney who was seated across from Alex had been stylishly watching her all night even as he chatted with one of her uncles. He noticed the change in her countenance.
He immediately looked to Golden and could guess that she was having a crisis.
Nana Chen silently watched them and knew they were trying not to alert anyone. So she slowly stood up and went over to Golden.
She gently placed her hand on Golden's shoulder. “Come help me with something dear.”
Golden saw the look in Nana's eyes and knew she knew about the crisis about to happen so she stood up and followed her.
Nana took her to her room and immediately put on the humidifier. She added a few drops of lavender oil to the diffuser and asked Golden to sit.
She applied some of the lavender oil to her palm and used it to rub on Golden's chest.
“I need you to calm down Gigi. Try to relax and breathe. The lavender will help you relax your nerves, but I need you to relax your mind.
Can you do that for me?” Nana asked reassuringly.
Golden nodded and tried to relax. Hearing Nana's soothing voice helped a lot and soon, Golden's breathing began to stabilize.
They were in the room for 10 mins. Nana told Golden stories of her university days and how she had been very rebellious.
Her stories helped take Golden's mind off the picture she had seen. Nana Chen showed Golden some old pictures in an old photo album.
Golden was surprised to see that Nana of then and Alex looked exactly the same.
“Thanks a lot Nana, I feel much better now.” Golden said with a smile as she closed the photo album.
“Whatever it is that caused you to panic is not worth it if it would land you in the hospital Gigi.
As much as possible, learn to choose your peace of mind first. Choose you above every other thing.” Nana said.
She walked Golden to the door and when she opened it, she saw the three people she knew would be standing guard by her door.
“Xinyi accompany Gigi back to the mansion. This house is too chaotic and she needs some peace and quiet.
Besides you would have to give up your room anyways to your aunties because I doubt they are going to the hotel your dad booked for them.
In fact I think they might have even asked him to cancel the reservations.” Nana said to Alex.
Golden hugged Nana and left with Alex, Fab, and Varney.
Getting back to the dining room, Lily told Alex that they would be rooming with her and asked if she sleeping bags so they could have like a sleepover vibe.
“Aunty Lily, you don't have to worry, I'll be staying over at Gigi's tonight. You and aunty Lisa can have the bed.” Alex said smiling.
“We can plan the sleepover some other time and you can tell Gigi your amazing stories.”
“If there are amazing stories, can I come for the sleepover too?” Fab asked excitedly.
Everyone looked towards Fab surprised. “He's kidding right?” One of Chen's brothers asked.
“Actually he's not, he's one of the girls.” Varney said with mock seriousness.
“You are welcome anytime Fab. Don't mind these guys, we have more interesting stories than they do.” Lisa said waving off what Varney said.
On the drive home, Golden fell asleep. She didn't have the energy to explain to her family what triggered the sudden attack.
She wasn't going to jump into conclusions before she knew what was going on.
She had only seen one picture with Allan kneeling and tying Lindsay's shoes lace, but that wasn't enough to crucify him.
She didn't know why her body had reacted the way it did. One thing was certain, Allan affected her more than she thought.
She loved him and she realized that his actions and inactions affected her.
She made a resolve that no matter what happens, she would talk about it first and give him a chance to explain before she makes a decision.
Since she had decided to date him, she has prepared her mind for anything.
But her reaction to just one picture made her understand that she wasn't as prepared as she thought.
It was midnight by the time they got to the Nixon Estate. Varney carried Golden up to her room and Alex helped her to get comfortable.
Fab remained in the living room, waiting for Varney and Alex. When they came down, he handed Golden's phone to Alex.
“What happened to Gigi tonight Fab? She was fine until she wasn't?” Varney asked.
“We would have to ask her tomorrow morning when she wakes up.” Fab said not letting anything out.
Until they were sure what was happening, he didn't want to steer up trouble. Alex and Varney were over protective of Golden and he was sure Golden wouldn't want him telling them about the picture yet.
Besides the picture might be harmless and whoever sent it to Golden obviously had bad intentions.
Meanwhile...
Allan and Lindsay got to OCU grounds. Allan rode all the way to the Faculty of Arts and parked in the parking lot.
He called Trey to tell him they had arrived and were in the parking lot.
He got off the bike and helped Lindsay down. She had twisted her foot when she tripped and almost fell earlier.
It wasn't swollen but he was being careful just in case it was sprained.
Just as he was about to let her go, she grabbed his shirt and kissed him.
