Chapter 172 Leave this room naked
**Elizabeth's POV**
*
Louis, the vampire king, didn't reply to me. His gaze sized me up from head to toe, then his eyes fell on my bleeding wrist.
I could be sure his gaze was filled with greed and desire for blood.
I hurriedly pressed down firmly on the bleeding hole in my wrist, hoping to stop the bleeding as soon as possible, and put my hands behind my back.
"Why does your blood taste so..." asked King Louis, halfway through the question, suddenly changing his tone stiffly, "...weird?"
"Didn't you say that werewolf blood stinks? Why have you drunk so much of my blood?"
"Are you questioning me?" King Louis frowned, " You only need to answer when I ask you a question, not ask me a question back. Understand?"
" Know thyself correctly. You are my captive. You don't even deserve to be my blood slave. You should be grateful that I gave you a chance to be allowed to be my food."
I didn't say anything. The silence was the only defiance I could make. I wouldn't be grateful to him for such a stupid reason anyway.
"I've always wondered why humans make stinky foods like canned herring and stinky cheese. So I decided to give it a try." King Louis wiped my blood off his lips and gave a disgusted look, "What a lousy attempt. Eww... Yucky."
I was angry that he had compared me to a turkey before, and then he compared me to a can of stinky herring.
"You werewolves really are a worthless species. Rude, ugly, foul-smelling, and tastes terrible. If I weren't interested in your weird hard belly, I wouldn't have stopped that crazy Blood Moon pack's alpha from killing you."
"Since you have such a deep prejudice against werewolves. Why did you agree to work with the Blood Moon pack's alpha?"
"Don't ask what you shouldn't ask. Don't make me say the same thing a second time. You're in no position to ask questions."
He refused to communicate and told me to learn to obey. For the safety of the baby in my belly, I'd better not piss him off.
"So, answer me honestly, why can't you get your belly poked with a knife?"
"I don't know." I blurted out the truth.
"Lies. It seems you value this secret more than your own life. If you don't want to answer, I'll find the answer myself."
"I'm not lying. I really don't know."
I wanted to know more than anyone else why my belly was soft at regular times and would suddenly become hard at the first sign of danger.
How could I answer their questions when even I didn't know the answer to what was going on?
"I have long seen through the truth. Your clothes are made of some kind of special material. That must be the reason."
King Louis said in a tone of certainty.
"Look at the little shiny things on this fabric. What are these? Oh, fish scales?"
King Louis pulled a light blue scale from my dress with great force. But the next second, the scale automatically detached itself from his hand and flew back onto my dress.
" Amazing. See, I've found the reason." King Louis smiled at me triumphantly.
I don't think he's right. I remembered that this mysterious power was protecting my belly from harm even before Dylan made me wear the dress.
"Tell me where you acquired this dress. To whom do the scales on the dress belong?"
"The dress does not have the ability to protect..." I explained.
"Do you think I'd believe such a poorly thought-out lie? Tell me where you obtained this suit, or take it off and leave this room naked. Choose one."
It sounded like he was asking me to make a choice when, in reality, I had no choice.
"I accidentally fell into the sea. A mermaid saved me and sent me to the shore. She gave me the dress."
I told half the truth and half the lie. I didn't want to tell him it was the alpha Dylan of the sea that gave me the dress, which would get me into unnecessary trouble.
"Mermaid, it's the scales of a mermaid." It looked like he believed me, "No wonder you can cross the sea. So it was a mermaid that brought you to the shore. How incredible. They are actually such friendly and stupid creatures."
"Clothes made of mermaid scales can resist attacks. That's great. I want all vampires to have a suit made of mermaid scales. Then we'll be invincible! We can rule the whole continent!"
His words made me realize that things had gotten worse. I seemed to have gotten the mermaids into trouble.
But I quickly calmed down. The mermaids lived in the deep sea. The vampires could not go to the deep to capture them as long as they did not come to the surface of the sea voluntarily.
My disgust for the vampire king in front of me deepened.
In the short time we spent together, he displayed greed, ambition, deviousness, and cunning that fit my stereotypical image of a vampire completely.
"You have provided good information. As a reward, I will allow you not to live in a cage with those blood slaves."
After leaving King Louis' room, his subordinates took me to a new room.
This room was much smaller than King Louis' room but just as dark and windowless, with a large coffin and no bed inside.
OK, this matched my stereotypical image of vampires again. Vampires are really a bunch of rats who dare not see the light.
"The king said you should stay here and never go out. If you go out without permission, he will throw you in the cage again."
I was left alone in the room and felt that living here was worse than living in a cage.
The cage was at least ventilated, while this room was like a big, airtight, dark box.
God, could I only sleep in a coffin?
I stood in the doorway with my back pressed against the door of the room, not daring to move forward at all.
I looked around for a kerosene lamp or candle, but not surprisingly, there was none.
Suddenly, I noticed that one of the scales on my dress was glowing.
It is a different color from the other light blue scales, it is white, and it is exceptionally hard.
I picked it up and looked at it, and suddenly realized that it was a protective scale from Dylan's heart.
It was flickering and emitting a faint glow, like a star in the dark room.
I was calmer. Light always brings a sense of security.
I suddenly thought of Dylan. Is he dead?
Why did he finally ask me to escape? Why did those mermen come after me?
I couldn't figure it out.
Anyway, I was in danger now. I should focus on how to get through the trouble of right now. I didn't have time to worry about others.
By the light of the scale, I gathered the courage to open the coffin.
Good, the coffin is empty. There is nothing horrible hidden inside.
I put the coffin flat on the ground and lay in it. Of course, I did not cover the coffin lid.
Clutching the glowing scale, I gradually fell asleep.
After a long time, a knock on the door woke me up.
I did not open the door immediately, but inquired, "Who?"
"It's me."
The voice belonged to the blood slave girl whom I had saved. She continued, "I have been ordered to bring you food."
I was so happy that I opened the door of the room at once.
The girl stood outside the door holding a steaming roasted turkey. When she saw me, she gave me a smile.
I took her chained hand and asked happily, "Did they allow you to leave the cage?"
"I was just allowed to leave temporarily to cook for you. The vampires sleep during the day. They hate sunlight. So they asked me to take care of you."
The girl glanced at the room behind me with envy in her eyes, "The king has rewarded you. I'm so happy for you."
"Come in, and we can eat together."
The girl shook her head in a hurry, "No, I am not allowed to do that. This is the food the vampire king rewarded you with."
"It's okay, he won't know."
"No. I can never do anything against the Vampire King. I will obey him, make him pleased, and maybe one day I'll get his acceptance to turn me into a powerful vampire."
"Wait...wait, what are you talking about? Turning you into a vampire...you want him to turn you into a vampire?"
This was so ridiculous that I thought I must have misunderstood.
The girl nodded, a blush appearing on her pale face, "As long as the vampire king recognizes me as the most loyal of slaves, he will reward me with his blood and make me a vampire. I will get rid of the fragile and diseased body of a human and become a powerful being that lives forever."
Her words made the smile on my face disappear completely, leaving only shock and confusion.
"Do you know what the hell you're talking about? You are human. Why do you want to become a creature that dares not see the light of day? Weren't you and the other humans captured by the vampires to be blood slaves?"
"No, we volunteered. Each one of us aspires to become a stronger, power-filled being. Vampires don't get sick, they don't die, they don't suffer from poverty, they are the perfect being."
I couldn't help but let go of the girl's hand.
But the dense, bloody holes in her arms made me ask again.
"Are you really not being forced? You were crying and begging them not to provide blood in the morning. They were so cold and rude to you. They didn't even care about your life..."
"I was just afraid of dying before I could get the acceptance of the vampire king. If I die before he agrees to turn me into a vampire, I will never be able to become a vampire..."
With that, she suddenly sighed, "But I regret it. Maybe I should have been braver. Look at you, you supply the king with blood instead of me, and he grants you the big room. There is a high probability that you will gain his admiration and be turned into a vampire by him in the future and gain great immortality..."
Seeing the jealousy coming out of her eyes, I took a few steps back in fear.
I thought I would have a new friend, but I'm afraid we can't be friends.
She had lost her own self. She had lost her self-identity. She worships the powerful, even the guys who bully her by being powerful.
I can't be friends with someone who doesn't have a self.
Even though I was hungry, I had no appetite for the roasted turkey in front of me.
It was like a taunt - a taunt from the strong to the weak.
It must not have occurred to the girl as she disposed of the turkey carcass in the kitchen that there was no difference between her and the turkey in the eyes of the vampire king.
The vampire king would never turn a ridiculous turkey into a member of his noble kind.
I must find a way to escape from here. Escape from these poisonous people and the environment.
