Chapter 120

**XANDER**

As soon as I reach the pack, I get out of my car and join my beta in my office.

"They don't trust me." I tell him as I sit down in my seat.

He looks at me with furrowed brows. "Why.... how..."

"Would you put a bug in the phone of someone you trust?"

"Fuck. Seriously? How did you know?"

"Because I'm not a complete idiot. I didn't see them do it, but I know when they did it."

"So the plan..."

"Don't change." I cut him off. "And I intend to use that bug to my advantage."

"Where's your phone?"

"I 'forgot' it in my car. So I want you to listen carefully to everything I have to say before I go get it."

**NOAH**

As soon as I put the kids to bed, I told Amelia everything that was on my mind. How stupid I felt that I could have doubted her sincerity and considered that she might have wanted Xander in her life. She listened to me and kissed me as soon as I'd finished.

"I knew at the end of the day you'd understand. You'll always be my one and only mate, Noah Black."

"I know. I have something to tell you."

She nods.

"I'm meeting the Alpha Kenan in two days and his companion will be there, I warned her you were bedridden but she's keen to come anyway."

"Okay. Why do I get the feeling there's something else?"

"Because there's something else." I pause looking her in the eye. "I don't trust Xander."

"Neither do I."

"I've... what?!" I need her to repeat herself because I'm not sure I heard correctly.

"I don't trust him either."

"But I thought..."

She grunts frustrated. "You should think a little less and talk to me a little more so you know what's in my head." She shakes her head, frowning. "I don't trust him since he told me he'd be willing to share me. Werewolves don't share... it's against our nature. I think he'll do anything in his power to get me. He's waited so long to find his true mate..."

"That he won't give up so easily." I finish for her.

Did I think it was possible to feel even dumber than before? No. Do I feel even dumber than before? Yes.

"Max has installed a bug in his phone."

"Do you think he suspects something?" She asks me.

I sigh because it kills me to admit what I'm about to say. "Yes. He's far from stupid... unfortunately."

"That's good timing because we're far from dumb too." She tells me as she takes my hand in hers. "Then we'll have to interpret anything he might say on his phone. He'll say what he wants us to hear. How are you going to know if the Alpha Kenan is telling the truth when you go to see him?"

"I trust him and Xander insisted that I not trust him so I think that works in our favor."

"Are you going to take him into your confidence?"

"I'm willing to take the risk," I tell her.

"And I was thinking of two other people who might be able to help us."

"Don't tell me... Tom and Josh?"

"Yeah. We've talked and they want to be a part of our lives...I want to trust them."

"Me too." She confirms. "But right now I can't continue this conversation."

"Why can't you? What's wrong?" I ask, rising slightly to look at her.

"I need some chocolate mint ice cream if I'm going to talk about them and come up with a plan to end her betrayals and attempted putsches on our pack once and for all." She says to me with the most serious face I've ever seen.

"Mint chocolate ice cream?"

She nods, pouting.

"There's some in the freezer, but I'm not supposed to get up except to go to the bathroom and wash up."

"Okay." I raise my hands in the air. "I'll get some."

"Take two spoons, I'm in a sharing mood." She adds with a wink.

She may be bedridden, but she hasn't lost her sense of humor.
