Chapter 148: chapter 148
Gabriel's POV
I left the manor a little bit to get something from home. Of course I wasn't doing this to see my father or anything, even though I wanted to talk to him and tell him my mind about what the elders were doing and how he wasn't supposed to support something as evil as this.
Putting the call girl in the middle just to serve everyone, or let's talk about the fact that they want to sacrifice her for everyone like it's her fault that she was born. The moon should have chosen someone else. Why does it have to be her?
It was good enough to find out that my father wasn't at home when I went. I went to my room to get the things that I needed. I also didn't want to talk to my mom because she kept enduring all the nonsense that my father was bringing towards her. She wasn't even arguing or defending herself at all.
When he became a scumbag and cheated on her to have an illegitimate child, she didn't even complain about it and she still stayed in this marriage. I've tried everything to come together out of here so that he wouldn't be with this evil man, but nothing I say works on her.
"Gabriel," I heard her call me as I was going outside.
I turned around to look at her. "Mom, you're at home?"
"You already know I don't usually go out much, so why didn't you come to see me? You've been out of home for the past few days. What is wrong with you?"
I took a deep breath to control my anger so that I wouldn't say something that I might regret saying to her later.
"I'm very sure you already know what I'm doing, Mom. I don't want to argue with you right now," I told her. "If there's anyone to blame for this, you should blame my father. He's the reason why I'm going through all of this now."
She looked shocked and offended by what I said, but I was saying the truth, wasn't I?
"You haven't been at home for the past few days and I'm worried about you. Why do you have to involve yourself in something that your father has anything to do with? Don't you understand that it's dangerous for you?"
"I don't think you understand what is going on, Mom. If it's dangerous, I'm going to be the one to judge that—not you or Dad. I won't let any of you tell me what to do," I replied, wanting to walk away until I turned around and faced my dad.
"Do you think you have the right to make any decision for yourself? If you're not going to listen to me, then I might as well force you to," he said to me.
I looked at him suspiciously. When he says something like this, he's always planning to lock me up in the house so that I won't be able to get away. But I'm not the same son he used to do the same thing to before. I won't let him stop me from going where I want to.
"Dad, you already put the woman I love in danger. Now you want to stop me from helping her out. Don't you think you're a bit hypocritical?" I asked him.
He moved closer to me. "If you don't stop going where you want to go, I'm going to make sure that I remove you as my heir, and then you know what's going to happen after that. I will completely abandon you."
This didn't look like he was threatening me. Even though he always said something like this before in the past, he didn't act on it and he never sounded this serious. However, this time around it didn't matter to me. I used to worry about being the next alpha or not, but now I don't even think I'm worthy of being the alpha when my father has ruled the pack like this, using the blood of others.
"Dad, even if you threaten me with this, I'm not going to change my mind," I said to him.
"You think I'm not going to do it? I'm going to make sure that I abandon you, and everyone else knows that. How many people do you think would give you any respect anymore if you are a nobody?"
I wanted to respond to him, but Mom pushed me backwards in a way that I didn't expect, and he moved closer to my dad, slapping him so hard that I was shocked. I didn't expect that she would do something like this since she has never tried to do this to him before.
"What are you doing right now? Do you have any idea that I'm trying to discipline our son and you're hitting me in front of him?" Dad was definitely pissed off while talking to Mom.
"And what are you going to do about it? Give the position to your illegitimate son? Is that what you've been planning for a long time?" she snapped at him.
"Who do you even mean by that?"
"Let's talk about the fact that you already hurt me and my son so many times, yet I never held it against you. I only stayed because I wanted to give my son a stable home. You dare to threaten him with the only thing that you have left on me?" Mom snarled at him.
I have seen my mom get mad at him so many times, but this was the first time I had seen her fully get mad at him with no thoughts about his feelings at all. I finally got what I wanted and I don't know how to feel about this. The way I wanted my mom to stand up to my dad so much, and now she was doing it—it feels so unreal to me.
"Do you need to talk about that in front of him? I'm telling you something important right now. The council are going to go against us. Is that what you want?" Dad replied to her.
Mom scoffed. "I don't care what the council thinks. You all are hypocrites anyway. If you don't let my son go where he wants, then you're going to have to face me. Remember, I'm not alone in the first place."
The way Mom was threatening my father made me realize that she wasn't alone indeed. She had a huge pack which her brother was the alpha of behind her. She was originally a princess who came to marry into my dad's house, and now he became like this. She has never met her brother to find out what happened to her, or else everything would go wrong.
"Now get out of the way," Mom ordered him, and he couldn't do anything but step out of the way.
I looked at my mom, who smiled at me and gave me a go-ahead. I rushed outside, riding my bike as fast as I could. I passed by a place where I used to check all the time, so I decided to give Carlota a surprise.
