Chapter 220: Chapter 220

Nathaniel sat alone in his study, the night air heavy and quiet. The only sound was the ticking clock on the wall. He had been restless all evening, unable to shake off the unease inside him.

Then the message came — a file slipped into his email by an unknown sender. It was marked CONFIDENTIAL. He almost ignored it, thinking it was another business spam. But something told him to open it.

As the file loaded, his hands began to tremble. There on the screen were old documents — hospital records, photos, and… a birth certificate.

Liam Carter.

Mother: Savannah Carter.

Father: Nathaniel Brown.

Nathaniel froze. The color drained from his face. His lips parted but no sound came out. “What… what is this?” he whispered. He zoomed in on the photo attached — a small baby wrapped in blue cloth, eyes closed, tiny hands curled. The name Liam was written in the corner.

His breath hitched as he remembered the night Savannah left. She had been crying, begging him to believe her. But he had chosen pride. He had thrown her out. And now, this—

“My son,” he muttered, clutching the table so hard that his knuckles turned white. “My son…”

He leaned back on the chair, his heart pounding fast, pain crawling through his chest. His eyes burned as tears slowly fell. He had been looking at Savannah all those months, wondering why the little boy beside her looked so familiar. Now he knew.

Liam — his son. The son he never held. The son he abandoned without knowing.

He stood up and slammed the table with his hand. “No!” His voice echoed through the room. “They kept this from me! Savannah hid him from me!”

He began pacing back and forth. His anger grew by the second. “How could she?” he growled. “How could she let another man raise my child? Adrian… that man is living the life that was meant to be mine!”

His phone rang — it was Louis. He didn’t want to talk, but he answered anyway.

“Bro, what’s wrong? You sound tense,” Louis asked.

Nathaniel’s voice broke. “Louis… Liam… he’s my son.”

There was silence. Louis blinked on the other side of the call, confused. “Wait, what did you just say?”

Nathaniel swallowed hard. “Liam… Savannah’s son. He’s mine. I just saw the proof. The birth record. The dates match. Everything.”

Louis was quiet for a moment before saying carefully, “Are you sure about this? Maybe it’s fake—”

“It’s not fake!” Nathaniel shouted. “He looks just like me! I knew it the moment I saw him that day at the dinner party. My own blood, Louis!”

He started pacing again, breathing fast. Louis sighed. “Then what are you going to do about it?”

Nathaniel’s eyes hardened. “I’ll take him back. I’ll take my son back. Adrian has no right to raise him. That boy belongs to me.”

Louis tried to calm him down. “Nathaniel, please, think. You can’t just storm into their lives. Savannah’s married now. If you fight her, you’ll make things worse.”

Nathaniel’s voice lowered but still shook with rage. “She kept my child away from me. Do you know what that means? All these years, I thought she moved on. But she was raising my son behind my back.”

Louis sighed deeply. “You made mistakes too, man. You pushed her away. You threw her out. You can’t change that overnight.”

“I don’t care,” Nathaniel said firmly. “I lost her once, but I won’t lose my son. Never again.”

He walked to the window, looking out at the city lights below. The night felt cold, bitter, and strange. “I’ll go to court if I have to,” he whispered to himself. “I’ll fight. I’ll get justice. That boy is mine.”

Louis heard the quiet determination in his friend’s voice and realized nothing he said would stop him. “Just be careful,” he muttered. “Don’t let your anger ruin you again.”

But Nathaniel wasn’t listening anymore. His mind was already running with plans — lawyers, DNA tests, court papers. He could already see Savannah’s shocked face when she found out he knew the truth.

He walked back to the table, staring at Liam’s picture on the screen. The boy’s smile was bright and innocent, just like Savannah’s used to be. His heart softened for a moment.

Then his jaw tightened again. “You should have been with me, my boy,” he whispered. “But don’t worry. Daddy’s coming for you.”

He closed the laptop slowly, his eyes dark with determination.

For the first time in a long while, Nathaniel had a purpose — not money, not business, not revenge.

He wanted his son back.

And he was ready to fight the whole world for him.
