Chapter 76: Your Love Is My Drug Part 3
"This he inherited from my Made, I'm not as nice as her.
"Don't be a liar, Jebediah! This man is the kindest, most passionate, and courteous man I have ever met, so I married him.
"It was a great choice, Aunt Made." I say happy. "Jebe is one of the most worthy men I have as an example in my life.
I talk to Jebe and Madeleine for what seems like an eternity, she remembers the years she lived with her son and Jebe talks about what he always expected from John. I ask why I made that will, but Jebe just smiles and says that soon John and I would understand everything. I trust my father. We ended up talking so much that we didn't even notice the passage of time in that place, when we finally stopped, the place seems plunged into the afternoon sun, when I arrived the sun was morning.
"I think our time is running out, my girl, you need to go back." Jebe speaks with a certain sadness in his voice and in his gaze. "I need you to take a message to John.
"Of course I do, uncle, even though I know he won't believe it much, won't he?
"He will, don't worry." Jebe says smiling. "Tell my son that I'm proud of the man he is today, that I hope he'll never be that inconsequential kid he was until a few months ago." Jebe cries and his Madeleine comforts him, without saying anything. "I love my son, even though I didn't show it as I should. John, Miranda, and you are the greatest gifts God could have given me in life, and I am so proud to be able to say that you are everything I dreamed you would be.
"I love you very much too, old man." I speak hugging Jebe with tears in my eyes. "I love you too, Dad, I love you so much and so much.
"I'd also like to say something to my son." Madeleine speaks while I'm letting go of Jebe, she hugs me and whispers in my ear everything she wants to say, when she's done, touches my belly. "They'll be beautiful.
I don't have time to ask anything more, a wind starts blowing hard and the last thing I hear before a swirl of cherry blossoms envelops me, is Jebediah's voice screaming goodbye.
***
The distant smell of coffee awakens me, as does the smell of cherry, I struggle to open my eyes, but my head is heavy. I give up fighting and resolve to stay there with the smell of coffee and cherry. Time passes and the smell of coffee is replaced by the smell of bacon, my stomach growls and automatically my eyes open, I get up with some difficulty, as soon as I sit on the bed, I see a girl with a magazine in her hand, she looks at me before screaming.
"Morgan, she's woken up!
" Finally, I thought I'd have to call Uncle again. " A sweet voice answers from somewhere not far away. I look around and observe the simple room where I am, the decoration is very juvenile, some posters are on the wall, as well as sticky stars.
"Where am I?" I ask in a hoarse voice, looking at the girl.
"It's on my family's farm, we found you on the side of the road two days ago, my uncle said you should have hit your head, so you were asleep." The girl speaks looking at me. "You're that girl from the magazine, aren't you? The one that was kidnapped?
"Well, I guess I am, my name is Ella...
"Monroe, one of the owners of Empire Kross, I'm Lavinia Wallys, I'm a fan of your magazine.
"Do you read EK?" I ask looking at the skinny girl with red hair and intense green eyes.
"This girl reads everything, everything, Lavinia has all the issues of the last two years of your magazine, believe me? When she saw you, she almost had a heart attack. "A woman comes into the room, she's fat like me, a little less than me actually. Just like the girl, she is a redhead, has green eyes and a radiant smile, I like her face. "I'm Morgan Wallys, Lavinia's older sister, I who met you on the road.
"I am... Well, you already know who I am. Thank you for saving me, I blacked out at the wheel. " I speak shaking my head. " My God, I can't believe I managed to get away.
"Were you stuck? " Lavinia asks.
"Yes, a madman kidnapped me and bound me with a chain." I speak to my feet. "Morgan, could you give me a ride home?
Morgan stops the old farm pickup in front of 432 Park Avenue, I see some photographers outside, they don't pay much attention to the old car, but that changes as soon as I open the door and get out of the car. I must be looking like a fat and kind of disheveled pinup, I'm barefoot and the dress is still dirty with blood in some spots, which is disguised by the color of it. I close the car door between flashes and make my way to the entrance of the building along with Morgan, only the two of us came to town, Frederick, her older brother, went to the place where I was arrested to pick up Doug and hand him over to the police.
