Chapter 77: Your Love Is My Drug Part 4

As soon as I enter the entrance hall, I see the doorman of the building and smile at him, the man releases the entrance without needing the code. Soon I'm in the elevator along with Morgan.

"Do you really live in this fancy building?" Morgan asks, looking at the elevator all mirrored and with the floor shiny.

" Yes, I live, on the top floor. " I speak typing the password in the elevator, hoping John hasn't changed this month. "You haven't seen anything yet." As soon as the elevator stops and the doors open, I smile excitedly and breathe a sigh of relief, stepping on the clear slate of the apartment entrance.

" Finally home. " I speak breathing a sigh of relief as I enter the apartment, but soon stop when I hear John's voice, his voice is too grave.

"Minnie, I can't live without her here, I'm in hell without my Marilyn." He speaks, and I can swear he's crying, I feel my eyes fill with tears when I hear another voice, this time it's Miranda's, her voice is also strange.

"You have to fight, because she's going to come back, and you should be here for her, John." My friend speaks muffled, until a silence engulfs the entire room. I walk through the entrance to the living room, where I see all my friends and family gathered, everyone, even Clint is crying. I look at John, who is hugging Minnie, and notice how horrible he looks, hair and beard too big, I know I'm no better than him, but I can't help but talk.

"Damn, love, I who am kidnapped and you who look like the hostage of a lunatic?" I say wiping the tears from my eyes.

"The... the... Marilyn?... I... I... " He tries to formulate a few words, but soon he's running to me, John grabs me tightly, I smell the drink, he should be drinking and no doubt dropped the baths too.

"Damn, John, you're stinking." I say squeezing myself to him, I don't want to let go of him even though he smells. " But don't let go, don't let go of me ever again. " I ask with a certain desperation in my voice.

"You came back to me, you came back." John speaks and I feel his tears drip down on my breasts, I caress his face and cry too.

"Did you doubt I'd be back, papy? I can't live without you, not even in jest, you are my life. "That said, my love takes me in a ravenous kiss, the kiss makes a shock run through my body, reminding me that I am alive and back home.

After hugging everyone and crying very, very much, the investigators of my case inform me that I will have to go to the hospital for tests and then give a statement. John doesn't leave my side like Morgan, the redhead proves to be a good person, I thank God for putting her in my way.

Very grudgingly, John goes to shower while I take the opportunity to kill the nostalgia of my family, I hug my father and cry a lot with my mother and my grandmother, but I end up breaking myself when Clint hugs me and cries along with me, I love my brother, seeing him crying makes him less tough for me.

When John comes back from a shower and in a cleaner sloppy outfit, we go to the hospital escorted by the police and a battalion of photographers. We quickly arrived at one of the best clinics in New York, Holland Medical Center. As soon as we arrive, I do a series of physical and mental exams. When we're done, one of the investigators guides me into a room where a man named Roy, who everyone says is the clerk, waits for me to take my testimony.

Sitting in a room surrounded by John, cops, Arthur and Patrick. I begin to tell you all about my captivity.

" In the early days, I didn't sleep when Doug was home, because he had already tried to rape me once, I was afraid. " I start talking as Roy types on the computer and John holds my left hand. I wiggle my fingers over the hospital gown I'm wearing, the other one was picked up as evidence. "I was scared, but I soon realized that he spent the morning and afternoons outside while I was stuck in bed, the only thing I consumed in the first few days was the tap water from the bathroom I had in the bedroom. Only later did he allow me to cook.

I start talking about everything I've been through, how I convinced Doug to let go, and how I hatched the escape plan. I also pass on the data of where he was working and the house where I stayed. The testimony goes on for hours, the police don't let anything go, but everyone is silent when I start telling how I knocked out my tormentor.

"I had already cooked in that pot, I knew it would help me, the hardest part was hitting him on the head after he had fallen. After that, I stole the keys to the handcuffs and the car, arrested Doug, and fled without looking back. It was in the middle of the escape that I drove into a cala near Morgan's family cornfield, there I found Jebe, and then Morgan found me, taking me to his farm and taking care of me until I woke up two days later.

"That's an awesome story, Miss Monroe." Says Investigator Swaner. "Iowa police are with Theodore Dulcan in a hospital, his condition is serious, but with proper treatment, he will survive.

" Unfortunately. " John mutters beside me.

"Who is Jebe? " Roy, the clerk asks suddenly.

"Jebediah Kross, my old boss who passed away last year." I speak staring at the man.

"You said you were with him before you were found by Miss Wallys, but now you tell me he's dead?

"I'm not sure how, but by the time I hit the car, I woke up to him calling me, we were in a cherry garden, it was something more spiritual than corporeal. " I speak remembering everything that happened while I was with Jebe and Made. "It may have been due to a hit on the head, but I spoke to Jebediah and Madeleine.

"My mother? Was she in your dream? John asks, looking at me startled just like Patrick.

"Yes, and by the way, I have a message for you." I speak looking at my beloved.

" Roy, put in parentheses that Miss hallucinated after the accident. " The woman speaks dryly looking at the man. "Well, gentlemen, we have collected everything, Miss Monroe, you are cleared, you can return home with the certainty that you will never see Theodore Dulcan again.

So I stand up and join John, my lawyers, and an even larger battalion of photographers. Still in my hospital gown, I get in the car and drive home.
