Chapter 59

Freshia Ava's POV

The evening was approaching when I brought a pot of my favorite chicken soup and placed it on the dining table. At that time, Amara was still in the kitchen, struggling with all the dishes and utensils we had used for cooking. I wanted to help her but Amara instead told me to serve and arrange the side dishes on the dining table.

Suddenly my gaze was attracted to the side of the wall in the television room where many photo frames were hanging there. This house is not very spacious, but the neat arrangement makes this house feel very comfortable. I stepped closer to the photo frames arranged in such a way. Up close, in the top frame, I can see many photos of a woman with a boy.

Then further down, the woman and boy remain the same, but their faces and body postures look different as time goes by. The photo at the very bottom shows that the boy is already much taller than the woman who is starting to look older, but her beauty still radiates from her shady face. I really recognized the man's face as Martin and I guessed that the woman beside him in the whole photo was his mother. They smile too much in these photos, making me smile too.

“Freshia!” Amara exclaimed as she patted my shoulder from the side. I immediately came to my senses and turned towards him. "You, I called you many times but you didn't even look at me. What exactly are you looking at?” Amara asked, then she started to stare frame by frame in front of us. “This is Martin with his mother, huh?”

“I think so,” I answered simply.

Not long after, the sound of someone dialing the door code was heard from outside. Amara and I spontaneously turned to look at each other. “That must be Martin.” Said Amara who immediately went to check it. I also followed behind her. We arrived at the door, just as it opened to reveal Martin's figure with a battered face.

“Martin?” Amara and I exclaimed almost at the same time.

"Hey, that damn Eros who made your face ruined like this?" Amara asked with passionate emotion.

"Sit down first, I'll get you a compress to wash and compress your face and body, Martin. Amara, you better take the first aid kit. Martin must be treated immediately.” I said calmly and then immediately stepped into the kitchen.

After that, I returned to the living room with a basin filled with water mixed with ice cubes and then I immediately followed Martin to sit in the living room, right next to him. Deftly, I immediately wet a small towel that I had also brought from one of the cabinets containing towels in the kitchen. Then I carefully began to clean the wound on his face from the dried blood. "Eros who beat you until you were injured like this?" I asked Martin while I was cleaning his face. Martin just nodded his head.

A few minutes later, we heard Amara's footsteps approaching us. He put the first aid box on the table and then sat on a bench not far from Martin. "You really have to bait Eros, but is it necessary to get battered like this?" Amara quipped.

"If it wasn't like this, ah..." Martin was just about to respond to Amara's words but the corners of his lips were also hurt, making him grimace when he opened his lips wide.

“Don't open your mouth too wide yet. The corners of your lips are hurt, it would definitely hurt if your mouth were wide open.” I reminded him and immediately received a nod from Martin.

"Yes, if I don't provoke his emotions, Eros will definitely leave me and he might approach Freshia," Martin said slowly because he could only open half the size he usually opened his mouth.

About fifteen minutes later, I finished treating Martin. The final step was to give him a special ointment for bruises which happened to be available in his first aid kit. "You'd better clean your body first and then we'll have dinner together," Amara said to Martin, to which Martin and I immediately nodded.

"Eros was crazy to have the heart to beat him like that. Did you see there were strangulation marks on his neck? He really is cruel and heartless!” Amara exclaimed as Martin left the two of you in the living room.

I only responded to Amara's words with a nod of my head. "By the way, Eros didn't treat you that harshly, right, Freshia?" Amara suddenly jokes. It surprised me so much that I turned to look at him instantly.

“No, Amara,” I said, lying. "Never mind, I don't want to remember bad memories about him anymore." I'm arguing.

After that Amara just said sorry to me and Martin came. Then we immediately had dinner in a fairly quiet atmosphere. This was a far cry from the small celebration that Amara had mentioned earlier when we had just arrived. Seeing Martin's condition, Amara and I definitely understand each other not to do anything excessive.

“Amara, go to your room first. Let me take care of everything. You must be tired." I said after we finished our dinner and I saw Amara who was yawning, her eyes also looked tired. “You too Martin. You must be very tired, especially your face must feel uncomfortable."

Martin just stared at me silently. Then Amara immediately said goodbye and went into the room first. In this house, there are only two main rooms in it. So Amara and I decided to sleep together and Martin in the other room. After Amara left, Martin still hadn't moved from his seat. I immediately cleared the dirty plates from the dining table to take them to the kitchen sink in the kitchen.

I had just turned on the water to clean the stains on all the plates I had just put in the kitchen sink when I felt arms wrap around my stomach. I immediately turned around and found Martin hugging me from behind. “Please, let me just hold you for a few minutes, Freshia.” His words were almost a whisper right in my ear.

“I will count down one minute from now.” My reply was short. Let Martin lean against my back.

Just as I finished washing the dishes, Martin let go of his arms. I turned around but he didn't move from where he was standing, leaving me no more than an inch away from him. Martin looked at me deeply then raised one of his hands to place it on my cheek. “I missed you, Freshia,” he said softly then.

I just stared at him silently. Those blue eyes were so sad looking at me, like pools of water that felt so calming. Eros. That look reminded me of him. The man I really wanted to banish from my mind turned out to be a figure I always remember. Then a word just came out of my mouth. “Your eyes are so similar to his. What exactly is your relationship with Eros, Martin?"
