Chapter 29

Chapter 29

"What do you feel about him?" Kate asked in a whisper as she fixed her gaze on the teacher, pretending to listen to his boring lectures.

"I don't know. He gave me this weird smirk before sitting in front of me. I wonder why he chose to sit close to me," I replied to Kate who diverted her gaze at Damien.

She turned to face me and said, "What else do you think is weird about him?"

I studied him once again, my brows furrowing with my eyes squinting as it became smaller.

"The ring!" I exclaimed while Kate turned to look at his finger.

"Okay, that's a little odd too. The rings are crimson like rubies. People who wear them aren't wolves, or humans, they're often vampires. I've learnt a lot about them; it's a daylight ring and I believe it is, because it looks just exactly like it. '' Kate expressed further while I listened attentively.

"So are you trying to say Damien is a vampire?" I asked her, my brows aching.

"I – I don't know. I can't tell for now. We may and may not be right," Kate muttered to me with a slight nod.

"Can you tell us the answer to his question, Miss Kate Graham?" Mr Ray's voice boomed, his stern gaze directed at Kate whose eyes widened slowly as she stood.

"You mean, Me?" Kate asked as she pointed to herself.

"No, me," The teacher replied sarcastically.

"I believe we don't have two Kates in the class, do we?"

Kate bit her lips slowly, her eyes blinking as she stared at his stern face which looked like it hadn't smiled in years.

She scratched her head and mumbled slowly, "What – was – his– question?"

"You were busy talking when I was explaining and now you have no idea of the important question that was asked by this new pupil regarding my subject. Can you see now? I have no choice but to put you in detention." Mr Ray snapped as he gave Kate a look of disgust.

He rolled his eyes, adjusted his tie and muttered, "Now this is why we need to have separate schools for omegas and people of noble status. You omegas just don't ever comply with the rules."

I gave Mr Ray a sneer as I stood, wanting to defend my friend.

"Don't you dare bring status into this, Mr Ray! You're just a narcissist, and a hypocrite. You spoke like that to her because of the hatred you have for omegas. You claim she wasn't listening, well, guess who else wasn't listening – ME!. And not just me but a bunch of many other students," I remarked before turning to face some girls who were busy with their phones.

"You won't shout or yell at them because their parents are well off and are from wealthy homes. Because they pay you extra so you could help them with their grades even when they don't deserve it." I said boldy while gasps erupted from the students.

'How dare she speak so rudely!'

'Is it because she'll soon be the Luna? I wonder why her respect is gone?'

I heard several murmurs from my classmates but I ignored them as I fixed my gaze on the teacher who was now speechless.

"Let's continue with the class, shall we?" Mr Ray muttered with a shaky voice as he turned to face the whiteboard.

I grinned and turned to face Kate. "Let's sit,"

She smiled back at me and we both chuckled lightly like little kids.

While I chuckled, I caught eyes with Damien, his emerald orbs piercing directly into mine.

I stopped laughing as his gaze lingered on mine.

"Okay, what on earth is going on?" I muttered to Kate who gave me a side eye.

After the bell jingled, Mr Ray left immediately, not wanting to receive more harsh truths from me. I smiled sardonically as I watched him scurry like a scared kid.

"Serves him right. Next time he'll learn how to act as a real teacher. Just because we're omegas doesn't mean he should treat us like dust." I said as I rolled my eyes.

"We? You? You aren't an omega, you're a Luna now, Camelia. So you don't have to include yourself with us," Hazel corrected me with a warm smile while Kate's eyes darkened with her smile disappearing.

I wonder why she acts strange sometimes. – maybe it was one of those crazy attitudes she got from being a witch.

Kate was a witch just like her mother. She discovered that she had powers when she turned seventeen.

As I remembered how I saved my mates from those horrible hybrids that day in the woods, I snapped my fingers, wanting to tell her about special secret powers.

Before I could mutter a word to her, I saw Meiko and his gangs advancing towards us, gaining my entire attention.

"I'm here to continue my brawl with you Miss Luna," Meiko admitted with a cunning sly smirk as he stared at me.

His eyes widened in a scornful and sarcastic manner when he saw that I remained mute.

"Have you forgotten we were into some business before the teacher walked in? Why don't we continue with it, urh?" Meiko asked and I smiled faintly.

He was sure daring me by testing my patience.

Why don't bullies ever learn their lessons?.

As I studied his huge lanky features, I could only imagine the parts of his body Xavier would smash first before disfiguring him completely.

He pushed me gently on the head, trying to look for my trouble.

"A beauty like you will be good as a slut and not a Luna, you know. You're better off being our slut than being a Luna to three mighty men," He murmured while I hit him hard on the dk as I gritted my teeth.

How dare he call me a slut!

"Now I'm sure gonna teach you a lesson, you cursed slut," He scowled as he bellowed, his grip tightened on me.

"Let me go, you maniac!" I warned with furrowed brows as I bit his fingers.

He shoved me hard to the wall and whispered in my ear, "I don't mind grabbing you to my dorm so you could warm my bed. I'll punish you till you plead for mercy."

I felt my anger boiling within as I glared at him. I could feel my powers surging within me and I could see fear in his widened eyes as he stared at me.

My eyes were starting to turn white with my powers taking control but everything stopped as I watched him being shoved to another direction— someone had just intervened.

I looked up and I saw Damien gripping him hard by the collar.

"What are you trying to do urh.. beat a woman? Tell me!" Damien scowled as he yelled at him, his fists clenched like he was about to hit him.

"Who are you? Aren't you the new comer? What's your business with her? Are you also one of that slut's multiple mates?" Meiko scoffed. Damien's stature was no way beside him as he was tall, and lanky.

"Don't you dare lay a finger on her again!" Damien threatened as he pushed him angrily to the wall.

"I don't have your time, kiddo," Meiko muttered to Damien.

He got up and straightened his rumpled shirt, his eyes fixed on me before moving out with his friends.

The rest of the students exited the classroom except for Damien, Kate and Hazel.

"I hope he didn't hurt you?" Damien asked as he approached me.

"No, I'm fine. Thanks for what you did, I really appreciate it," I muttered gratefully to Damien who only smiled in return.

"It's my pleasure. I love the way you stand up for your friend during the class. You were so bold, confident and humorous, I think I like that," Damien admitted while I said nothing but smile.

"Damien, meet my friends, Hazel and Kate," I said with a warm smile as I introduced Hazel and Kate to him.

They all exchanged greetings and I couldn't help but smile.

Kate's face was far from friendly as she wasn't comfortable with Damien around us.

It's like she was having a suspicious feeling about him. And trust me, whenever she feels that way, then I certainly believe her.

Just like me, her powers started to manifest when she began having dreams about certain things.

After Damien left, Hazel muttered to me teasingly. "What If he's a good vampire?"

"I – I don't know. The Alpha– Alpha Varlos has banned them from coming to our pack. He only allowed Desmond to stay because he trusted in our bond. If any other vampire shows up excluding Desmond then it means they're here for ulterior motives, probably to wage war," I explained to Hazel whose eyes widened at every bit of my statement.

"Guys, stop exaggerating for now. What if he isn't a vampire?. All because he has a silly crazy ring on doesn't make him one," Kate expressed as she clutched her bag tightly to her chest.

"You're right but I think it's best we avoid him for now," I suggested while they all nodded in agreement.

As the days passed by, Damien tried his best to get closer to me but I gave all manner of excuses just to avoid him.

One day when my mates came to pick me up, I caught him giving me a long stare. A mysterious smile twitched his lips and his gaze frightened even my inner spirit.

I shut my eyes tightly and held my breath. I wondered what he want from me.

"Are you alright?" Desmond asked me when he stepped into the carriage.

"Yes, I'm… I'm fine," I replied with a slight nod.

When it was dinner, Xavier and Carlos decided to cook while I watched them with a smile spreading across my face.

When my thoughts drifted to Damien, my smile faded at once.

"You look frightened, tell me, is something wrong?" Desmond asked as he gave me a cup of coffee.

He can always tell my emotions at any given moment and it's hard for me to hide things from him.

I decided to share my opinion with them while we sat down to eat at the diner.

"A ring?" Desmond asked, his brows raised with his face etched with curiosity.

"Yes. It's red and it often glows under the sun." I explained further while Desmond dropped his glass abruptly on the table.

"I've heard about daylight rings but I do not pay much attention to how they look. Is that how it is?" Xavier asked Desmond who nodded slightly in response.

"Oh! Wow. A new vampire in town. I think they're probably looking for you," Xavier kidded with a smirk before sipping from his drink.

"It's not funny Xavier. None of this is funny. If there's another Vampire in town, then it might scare some werewolves especially those weak ones who haven't shifted before,

"My dad agree to our mate bond with Camelia because he believe that peace might prevail according to the seer's prophecy but if the vampires starts to transgress now then it might lead to war and distrust from my father as well as an end to our mate bond," Carlos disclosed, his eyes fixed on all of us.

"If there's another Vampire in town, then that means, DAMON!!!" Desmond said with gritted teeth as he got on both feet.

He hurried to his bag and returned a little later with a whitish liquid.

"What's that?" I asked as he emptied it and mixed it in my drink.

"It's vervain. It will prevent you from getting compelled by a vampire. You have to drink it, Camelia. I believe they're after you because of me," Desmond uttered, his gaze fixed on me.

Without hesitating, I emptied the drink and gulped along.

"You said he's trying to get close to you, isn't it?" Desmond asked as he approached me.

"Yes," I responded slowly.

"Don't give him a chance at a

ll. Always be in the open where people can see you, okay. I promise to take care of him tomorrow, I won't let him harm you." Desmond said to me, his voice tinged with certainty.
