Chapter 28
Chapter 28
As I got to school that afternoon, a feeling of ecstasy spread within me. I was super elated due to the fact that my two friends; Hazel and Kate, would also be attending school as a full time student like me.
While we strolled down the corridor, with books in our hands, we chatted and squealed like kids.
As we walked, I observed some students maintaining distance from us.
Wait, was it from us or from me?
"Rich and spoilt kids. You just have to overlook them," Hazel said as she stared at some girls sneering at me at a corner.
"They're only jealous because they aren't privileged to be the Alpha's mate. I can simply put it this way, they're jealous of your fate," Hazel muttered loudly,.not minding if people were listening.
"I mean, who could have believed that a lowly omega and an outcast can become a Luna. Not just a Luna but a mate to three powerful men,"
While Hazel continued to speak, I noticed Kate was absentminded. She had been speechless for a long time and I wondered what exactly it was she was thinking.
"Kate!"
"Kate!" I called her name once again as I jerked her shoulders along.
"Wh– what?" She asked, jolting out from her thought zone, her eyes widening as she stared at me.
"You look a little lost. Are you alright?" I asked her, my face etched with concern.
"Y- yes I am." She replied me with a faint smile, her expression somewhat unreadable.
After the bell jingled, we all scurried back to the classroom, knowing the next lecture would begin in no time.
As usual, people avoided me but I was glad to have Kate and Hazel around me.
We sat together and brought out our notes, chatting as we waited patiently for the teacher's arrival.
The whole class was quite noisy— Something we've been accustomed to.
While I chatted with Kate, I felt pieces of papers being hurled in my direction. Light chuckles and chortles erupted behind me and I gritted my teeth, my fists clenching. I knew it was the work of my bullies or probably the mean sassy girls who despise me for no reason. Out of curiosity, I turned around in an attempt to find the culprit but there wasn't a clue of who it was.
"Is this what you've been going through all these while we aren't with you?" Hazel inquired, her arms crossed and her face buried in a cloud of frustration.
With her fists clenched, she stared at those troublesome jerks behind us with disdain.
"What! Why are you staring at me that way? Are you also a new mate to our bitchy and slutty Luna?" Meiko, a freaky lad with freckles, scoffed at Hazel.
"She's not a bitch! Mind your tongue," Hazel cautioned, exchanging a furious gaze at him. She hated him to the core because he once abused her while she worked as a maid in his family home.
"I see you'll always stand up for her because she did you a favor by putting an end to your harrowing stupid omega life. Isn't she just a good Luna?" Meiko scoffed while the rest joined him in chuckling.
Fury boiled within me and I just couldn't take it anymore. I walked over to Meiko and without wasting much time, I gave him two hard slaps on his left cheek.
He stood up immediately, his towering body overshadowing mine.
I raised my head to look him in the eye. He doesn't scare me at all. I've learnt to always stand up for myself or fight for others. While hunting, I learnt a lot from my three mates yesterday. They've taught me not to be weak or give in to people's shit and insult.
I am the Luna and I won't take a shit from anyone regardless of their status.
"You dare hit me? I believe you are aware of my status in this class. I am the most fearful person here. Even the teachers are scared of me, so should you, Omega."
"None of your words scare me, Meiko. If you dare try to insult me or my friends next time, I'll make sure I pluck out all of your teeth before making you rot in hell," I warned, my eyes squinting with my face turning crimson.
He noticed the anger on my face and how serious I was. He wanted to back out without infuriating me further but because he didn't want to look weak in front of his friends, he decided to ridicule me with incessant giggles.
The door opened and the teacher walked in, diverting our attention to be on him.
We scurried back to our seats, our eyes fixed on the male teacher who was in a pink shirt and spectacles.
"So fellas, today we'll be having a new student join us for this semester. Help me welcome, Damien Lucas," Our teacher, Mr Ray, said with a grin which revealed his perfect set of whitish teeth.
Damien walked in immediately. He was in a striped shirt, black pants and brown shoes. He had a cute bag clutched to his back and his black shoulder length hair was well combed and attractive. He was quite lanky and had nice emerald eyes like me.
"Hello everyone, my name is Damien Lucas. I believe my name has been mentioned to you guys before. I'm a transfer student actually and I'd love to be a part of Mystic View academy. I hope we have a nice smooth term and be of great help to each other," Damien introduced himself with a charming smile which melted the heart of most girls.
"You're welcome. You can have a seat over here,"
One of the meanest girls in the class, Matilda, stated, as she gave him a nice smile and gestured to an empty chair next to her..
"Welcome Damien. You can start by joining us for today's class." Mr Ray hinted while Damien moved forward, looking for where to sit.
"Here!" Matilda kept suggesting, trying to get his attention.
His eyes met mine and he smirked before occupying the empty seat in front of me.
I gulped down my saliva, my brows furrowing as I pondered on why he smirked at me like he was familiar with me.
As Mr Ray continued with his boring lectures, my mind drifted in several thoughts.
I studied Damien's features but then I shook my head, not wanting to get distracted.
As I tried to focus my gaze on Mr Ray, I observed a ring in Damien's finger when he raised his hand to ask a question.
"You can go on, Damien," Mr Ray proposed, wanting to hear his question.
While Damien asked and made gestures with his hands, my eyes were too busy studying the ring closely. It looked familiar and somewhat…
"Hey!" Kate called, jolting me out of my thought zone.
I raised my brows, wanting to hear her out.
She leaned towards me and muttered, "Why are you so lost?"
Technically she was right, I was so lost.
I turned to face her, a warm smile concealing my confused look.
"It's nothing, don't worry. I guess I was just being too nosy," I stated with a smile while she gave me a You're-hiding-something kind of look.
"You can always tell me anything. You know,"she muttered once again, giving me an assuring smile.
"It's about the new boy, Damien," I finally expre
ssed my thoughts while she nodded in understanding as if she also sensed something unusual about him.
