Chapter 46: Place Dearest To Her Heart

( Allie's POV )

I walk as slowly as possible, trying not to put too much strain on my body. I walk all along the stone path through the small town. It really is a beautiful little town and I could see myself staying here for the rest of my life, raising my baby. I feel a sudden knot in my chest Like I can't breathe. Thinking that I would stay here forever without seeing my family or telling them about the baby. Or not telling Jack about the baby we created together Is breaking my heart. How am I going to do this all by myself? I can't raise a baby with the small income I'm getting from the bookstore. I would have to leave my job and look for something better, but I can't just leave Martha with the store all by herself. She would never manage by herself and all the hard work I did to get the place in order would be for nothing. I started to feel dizzy and I could feel my legs starting to give away from under me. There was no stopping it. I could see that I was going to collide with the stone path when Strong arms wrapped around my body and everything went dark.

( Jack's POV )

When I came back from my nightly routine run, I discovered that I had two missed calls on my phone from an unknown number from overseas. I tried calling the number back, but there was no answer. I decided to call again and It sounded like an old Lady who answered the phone. She barely spoke English. " Hello. This is Jack speaking. I got a call from this number earlier. " The voice on the phone sounds excited to hear my voice. " You Jack? I am glad to hear from you. I wanted to inform you that your friend, Allie is in the hospital. " Hearing the old women say Allie's name made my body go cold as ice. I've finally found her, but hearing the woman say that she is in the hospital, put me in a panic. what happened to my Mate? My wolf is whimpering inside my head. Why is she in the hospital? The old woman tried to explain as much as she could, but all I could make out was that Allie was in the hospital and that I should come quickly.

" Where are you, Madam? Where do you live? " When the old lady said the town's name, I was stunned. Allie was right under my nose the entire time and I didn't even know it. Thinking back to what the witch said about the cards, makes sense now. ( She is at a place far away dearest to her heart ) I should have known she would go back to where I put my mark on her and where we made love for the first time. She never traveled before and she wasn't with her parents, so I should have known she was in Italy. I thanked the old woman on the phone for letting me know and I asked her for her address and told her that I would be there as soon as possible. I asked her not to tell Allie that I was coming, that I wanted to surprise her. It was a lie. I didn't want Allie to know that I was coming, because she might disappear again. I asked the old woman, called Martha, To look over Allie until I arrived. She happily agreed and said that she would take good care of her. I mind-linked Matt and told him what happened. He was just as shocked as I was when I told him where she was. I told him to get the plane ready while I packed.

It did not take long to pack my back and I was off to our small airport in the forest. I want to get to Allie as soon as possible because I don't know what is wrong with her. I couldn't make out what the old woman was saying. Something about falling and very bad and that she must stay in the hospital. I can't help but think the worst. I need to get to her as soon as possible. She needs me. I knew something was wrong when I felt like she was in pain earlier and then everything just stopped. when I arrived at the take-off grounds for the plane, Matt was already waiting for me. I told him to stay here and look over the pack for me while I'm gone. He agreed and took my car back to the lakehouse for me.

The flight to Italy felt like forever and when we finally got there, It was dark and late in the night. When I got off the plane, the guy with the same brown cruiser as last time was waiting for me. Matt arranged with him to lend me his cruiser again. He was willing to let me hire his cruiser again because I gave him a hefty amount of money last time for the old thing. Seeing the cruiser brings back memories of when I brought Allie here. How I wish I could turn back time and start things over from when we arrived here in Italy. That was the happiest I've ever been in my life.

I paid the guy for the cruiser again and I was off towards the small little town. arriving at the address the old woman gave me, I noticed that it was a bookstore and not a house address. I pulled the phone out of my jacket's pocket and called the number from which the old woman called me and I heard a phone ring from the bookstore. " That is just wonderful! "

The old woman called from the bookstore's phone and now the store is closed and I have no other way to contact her. I would just have to come back tomorrow morning when the store is open to speak with the old women. I've arranged with the owners of the chalet where Allie and I stayed last time, to hire it again. I hired it for two weeks because I don't know how long I will be here. It might be even longer. No matter what. I am not leaving Italy without my Mate.

Upon arriving at the chalet next to the beach, I could see that they made a few renovations. It looked much more modern than the last time we were here. I grab my bag from the cruiser and walk around the chalet like last time and it brings back so many wonderful memories. this place will always be special to me. It is the place where Allie and I did it the first time. It is the place where I put my mark on her. It is the place where I proposed to her. So many things happened here. It is no wonder why the cards said that Allie is at a place dearest to her heart. There is a somewhat warm feeling in me knowing that she was not too mad to return to the one place that reminds her of me. I should have known she was here when the cards said that she was far away at a place dearest to her heart. She never traveled before and she wasn't with her parents, so I should have known that she would be there. Maybe she came here because she knew this was the last place I would look for her. Thinking that she would go to such extreme lengths to hide from me breaks my heart. She sure is clever. She would definitely be a good Luna for the Pack. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth knowing that my own Mate is hiding from me. Why hasn't she called me yet to find out my side of the story? Thinking about it, makes me think back to one of the witch's cards saying ( She is no longer one, but two hearts. ) God I hope she didn't fall in love with someone else. I would have known if she did. Or is she so far disconnected from me that I can't feel all her emotions anymore? Thinking of that is starting to make my blood boil. I refuse to believe that my Allie would move on so quickly. Tomorrow, I will find out where she is and I will watch from a distance to find out why she is hiding from me for so long.

The Next morning when I arrived at the bookstore again the shop was still closed and it was already past nine in the morning. I waited in front of the shop for another two hours, but no one came to open it. And it will be pointless trying to call the number of the shop because no one is in there. The constant waiting is driving me insane. I should find out where she is. How many hospitals can there be in such a small town? I was driving down the road when I came across a little flower shop with a man busy arranging flowers outside. " Good day, sir. I was wondering if you could help. " He looks up to me and smiles. " Yes, sir. The hospital is just outside the town. " I listen to the instructions very carefully and drive off in the direction the man said where the hospital is.
