Chapter 40: Disbelieve

I get a sick feeling down in the pit of my stomach. Something does not make sense. Why would Jack leave without telling me, or at least Mind-link Matt and tell him what's going on? " Have you tried to Mind-Link him " He nods

" I did, but I can't get through to him. " I clench my jaw tight. The sick feeling in my stomach is only getting worse. Matt keeps sniffing with his nose in the air and Sasha and I follow the trail of clothes closer to the forest. " I don't think it is a good idea for you girls to go in the dark forest," Matt says, but I keep walking anyway, following the trail of clothes.

Allie stopped dead in her tracks. Her heart sinks into the pit of her stomach. Her eyes darted to the ground, trying to make sense of the two figures lying naked on the ground. It is dark, but she can see clearly what it is. She is unable to breathe and unable to move. She is in shock. " Allie, what is it? " Sasha asks, noticing that Allie is standing completely still like a statue. Her eyes fixated on the ground with her eyes wide open like saucers. Sasha walked over to Allie, only to discover why Allie was standing so still. She gasped, Cupping her mouth with the palm of her hand. She is in disbelief. How could Jack have done something like this? " Matt! " She shouts and he is by her side in a split second. " What is wrooo " He barely finishes his sentence when he notices the figures on the ground that Sasha and Allie are staring at. He is just as shocked as they are. It is Jack and his cousin, lying on the ground naked. It does not look good. " Jack? " He calls out, but no answer. He looks over to Allie. She is in shock. She is just standing there like a zombie with no emotion whatsoever. Sasha is trying to bring her focus back but fails miserably. He walks over to Allie, picks her up bridal style and carries her out of the forest " What about Jack? " Shasa shouts after him. He is furious at his Alpha and cousin. " Leave the bustards," He shouts over his shoulder. Sasha ran after Matt in case he needed help with Allie. They load Allie into a carriage, her eyes start to blink. " She is coming out of her trance, " Matt says, sitting next to her. " T.t.take me home " Allie Stutters, not knowing how she got in the carriage. All she wants to do is go home. " Don't worry. We are already on our way " Matt reassures her. Sasha looks at Allie and sees how traumatized she is and can't help but feel sorry for her friend. If She was a wolf by now, she would have torn Nickie to pieces right there on the spot. She can not believe that Jack would stupe so low. This is not how she and Matt knew him. They both know how much he has longed for his Mate. It just doesn't make sense that he will sleep with Nickie right after he announces to all the wolves that he has found his true Mate. There is a snake in the grass and they are going to find out what it is.

( Allie's POV )

The carriage ride feels like forever. I just want to go home and be alone. My entire body is numb and in shock. I can feel the tears in the back of my eyes, but I'm too in shock to cry. I'm still trying to process what I saw. Jack lying naked on the ground with Nickie, curled up with him. Why would he sleep with another woman just after he announced to everyone that I'm his Mate? I thought that once they had found their Mates, they never even looked at another woman. He didn't just look at another woman, He slept with her. How could I have been so blind? I should have noticed when she threw her arms around him earlier tonight that there was something between them. " Has Jack ever had a thing for Nickie? Did this happen before? " I ask, gazing at Sasha and Matt. They stay quiet and stare at each other for a moment. " Jack and Nickie always Had a thing going on and off, but it was never serious. They both said that they were just fooling around until their true Mate arrived. But Jack hasn't slept with Nickie in a few years, so I don't know what has gotten into him tonight! "

Hearing Matt say that, doesn't bring me any comfort. Jack never told me that he slept with Matt's cousin. He was just using me. He thought that because he was a prince, he could sleep with anyone he wanted and whenever he wanted. Well, he fooled me. This was all just a joke to him and he used me. Who says if I'm even his True Mate. Maybe it is Nickie! He probably realized tonight that she is actually his true Mate and that he made a mistake with me. We should have never moved so quickly in our relationship.

After about two and a half hours, we were back at the Lake House. Sasha came along. She didn't want to leave me alone. She is so kind. In such a short time, we have become good friends. I wouldn't know what I would have done without her. " Sash. Can I ask you a favor? " She raises an eyebrow, not certain of what I'm about to ask her. " You can ask me anything," She says, holding my hand and squeezing it.

" I need you to look over the store for a while. I know that I'm putting a lot on your hands in such short notice, but I need to get away to clear my head. I can't speak to Jack right now. I know that if I stay here, he will want to come and talk to me, and i need to get away and think things through. " She looks deep into my eyes and gives me a caring smile. " Don't you worry. I will take care of the store for you. I would do the same if I was you. You get some time away and clear your head and when you feel better, you can come back and everything will be waiting for you." Thank you so much, Sasha. You are the best! " I throw my arms around her and hug her. " Can I ask you for one more favor? " I say giving, her a little forced smile. " Anything "

"Can you help me get out of this dress? " She laughs and starts loosening the laces in the back of the dress and I slip out of it and put on something more comfortable. After I was dressed I got a pen and paper from the study and wrote a letter for Uncle Buck, saying that I would be gone for a while, getting things in order for my and Jack's wedding. I feel so bad for lying to Uncle Buck, but I can't face him right now and tell him everything that happened. He will be mad at Jack and he might want to confront Jack and my uncle would never stand i chance against a werewolf. I take the to Matt handing him the. " Would you please give this to my uncle tomorrow, please? It is a note saying that I going away for a while to get things ready for me and Jack's wedding. " He raises a brow. " Don't look at me like that. I need to get away for a while and i can't face my uncle now. I need to clear my head first." crossing my arms to look more serious. " Anything for you my Luna " Matt bows. " Don't be silly " I slap him on the shoulder and he laughs at me. " I also need you to take me to the airport in an hour. I already booked a flight. " Where are you going? " He asks concerned. " It is best if you didn't know. I don't want you to get in trouble with your Alpha " He nods in aprovel. I turn around and go back to the room to start packing, closing the door behind me. The tears I've been holding back the entire night just started streaming through my eyes. I can't hold it back anymore. My heart is shattered into a million pieces. I would have never thought that it would feel this bad. I feel numb. My legs gave in from under me and I just fell down onto the floor in front of the door, letting out everything I've been feeling since I saw Jack with Nickie. The pain is so bad that it feels like I can't breathe. Why would he do this to me? I ask myself.

" Allie? " I hear Sasha's voice by the door. I try to get catch my breath.
