Chapter 143 Pheromone Storm II
Chapter 143 Pheromone Storm II
Elias POV
The hybrid’s pheromone wave hit like a bomb. It wasn’t scent. It was force.
Toxic, sharp, violent energy slammed into my chest and burst through my senses. My knees buckled. Around us, cadets cried out. Several Alphas dropped instantly, clutching their heads as if something inside them had exploded.
“Elias!” Ronan’s voice cut through the chaos.
I couldn’t breathe.
The hybrid stood at the center of the storm it had created, arms slightly spread, eyes blazing violet-gold as the destructive aura expanded outward in crushing waves.
This wasn’t dominance. It was annihilation.
Another pulse hit.
The academy walls groaned. Windows shattered. Cracks split through the courtyard floor like lightning scars.
“No…” I rasped.
If this continued, everyone here would fall.
Ronan staggered toward me against the pressure. Even he was struggling. I could feel it through our bond, his muscles straining, his instincts fighting the invasive pheromone assault clawing at his Alpha core.
“It’s targeting us,” he gritted out.
I forced myself upright.
“No,” I whispered. “It’s targeting everyone.”
To break morale. To break unity. To break me.
The hybrid’s voice echoed flatly through the storm. “Omega destabilization successful. Suppression imminent.”
I wiped blood from the corner of my mouth.
“Shut up,” I muttered.
Another surge blasted outward. Three cadets collapsed. Something inside me snapped….not in fear.
In fury.
“Enough!”
I closed my eyes.
If it wanted to flood the battlefield with destruction, then I would flood it with something stronger.
I inhaled deeply, ignoring the poison tearing at my senses.
Then I reached for Ronan. Not lightly this time. Fully. Our bond flared instantly.
“Elias,” he breathed, shock and trust in his voice at once.
“Don’t pull away,” I whispered. “Whatever happens… don’t let go.”
“I won’t.”
I drew in everything, his strength, my control, the memory of every moment we’d survived together. Every doubt. Every fight. Every time he chose me.
And I let it burn.
My pheromones erupted.
Not chaotic. Not wild. But massive.
The air around me shifted from toxic pressure to something else entirely, deep, layered, commanding. Omega resonance amplified to its highest frequency.
The ground trembled beneath my feet. The hybrid’s storm collided with mine. The impact shook the entire courtyard.
A visible ripple tore through the air like clashing tides.
The hybrid faltered. Its violet eye flickered.
“What are you doing?” it demanded.
“Taking it back,” I said.
I pushed harder.
My aura expanded outward in waves, not destructive like the hybrid’s, but overwhelming in presence. It wrapped around fallen cadets, stabilizing their breathing. It pressed against attacking Alphas, forcing their aggression to crash and collapse inward.
One by one, Ascendant fighters staggered. Some dropped to their knees. Some backed away entirely.
“This… this is insane,” I heard someone whisper behind me.
Ronan moved to my side, his presence anchoring mine. His Alpha pheromones rose in perfect harmony with my Omega aura, weaving through it like steel through silk.
Stronger together. The hybrid growled.
“Output exceeding tolerance,” it said again.
“Good,” Ronan shot back.
The hybrid charged through the clashing storms. Ronan met it halfway. Their collision cracked the ground. I didn’t stop pushing.
Every time the hybrid tried to release another toxic wave, I countered it. Every time Ronan struck, I reinforced him.
“Elias….!” he grunted as the hybrid caught his arm.
“I’m here!”
I redirected my aura sharply, slamming it into the hybrid’s sensory receptors.
It roared, an actual roar this time, mechanical composure cracking.
Ronan twisted free and drove a brutal punch into its jaw. The hybrid staggered.
The academy shuddered again, not from destruction now, but from power. From us.
Across the courtyard, cadets were staring. Not just fighting. Watching.
A young Omega near the steps whispered, “Is that… what a bonded pair can do?”
An injured Beta replied hoarsely, “That’s not just bonding. That’s unity.”
Awe rippled through the ranks.
And fear. Not fear of us. Fear of what we represented.
Change.
The hybrid lunged again, desperate now. I stepped closer to Ronan instead of back. Our shoulders brushed.
Heat shot through me, intense, electric. Even in the middle of war, the connection between us deepened, sharpened.
“You’re burning,” Ronan murmured low enough only I could hear.
“So are you.”
His eyes locked onto mine.
In the middle of chaos, in the middle of collapsing stone and screaming wind, everything else blurred.
“You trust me?” he asked.
“With everything,” I answered.
Something in his expression softened, and hardened at the same time.
“Then don’t hold back.”
I nodded once. We moved together again. This time not defensive.
Final.
I pulled every thread of pheromone control into one focused core and directed it straight at the hybrid’s center. Ronan surged with me, his Alpha energy amplifying mine, not overpowering, supporting.
The hybrid screamed. Its restraints sparked violently. Cracks splintered across its reinforced skin.
“System failure…” it started.
Ronan delivered the last strike.
A full-force blow straight to its chest.
The hybrid flew backward and crashed into the shattered academy wall.
Stone collapsed over it.
Silence fell.
My aura slowly receded, but didn’t disappear. I was still standing. Still steady.
Ronan turned to me slowly.
His chest was rising hard, eyes blazing with something deeper than battle.
“You’re unbelievable,” he breathed.
I let out a shaky laugh. “You’re not bad yourself.”
He stepped closer. Close enough that our foreheads nearly touched.
“You scared me,” he admitted quietly.
“You think I wasn’t terrified?”
He smiled faintly. “Didn’t show it.”
“Because you were there.”
His fingers brushed my waist, grounding me. For a heartbeat, nothing else existed. Not the ruined academy. Not the watching cadets. Not the war.
Just him.
Our eyes locked, charged with something raw and intimate and unspoken. Hunger flickered there, but so did trust. So did choice.
Around us, whispers spread.
“They stopped it…”
“They’re still standing…”
Hope returned to the battlefield like sunlight after a storm.
Then….
A slow clap echoed again. I didn’t have to look to know.
Darius.
He stepped forward from the far side of the courtyard, expression calm but eyes sharp with calculation.
“Well,” he said smoothly. “You continue to surprise me.”
“It’s over,” Ronan replied coldly.
Darius tilted his head. “Do you truly believe that?”
He tapped something on his wrist. For a moment, nothing happened.
Then….
Sirens. Not from the academy. From beyond it. Deep, mechanical horns echoed across the valley.
The ground began to tremble again, but not from pheromones this time.
From movement.
I turned slowly toward the broken gates. Through the rising dust, shapes appeared.
Dozens.
No, hundreds.
Armored Ascendant reinforcements marching in perfect formation. Combat vehicles rolling behind them. Drones filling the sky like a swarm of steel insects.
My breath caught.
Darius’s voice carried across the courtyard.
“Allow me to introduce,” he said softly, “my true army.”
The gates exploded outward. And the reinforcements charged in.
