Chapter 81: Epilogue

Helen's POV

I couldn't do anything as they fought since I knew nothing about fighting. Fortunately, Ryan came over to my side and was protecting me. I feel like I caused more trouble for them considering how they have to look after me and fight at the same time.

The fight was bloody and I was surprised that something like this was going on in USA. I still don't understand what exactly is going on but I guess I will ask Brianna after we leave here.

All Justin's men were killed and only Justin was left standing. Ryan's men were killed too but four of the guards were still standing.

Brianna ran towards and pulled me into a tight hug.

"You are not hurt right?" she asked and twirled me

"Ryan was protecting me all these time so how could I have gotten hurt?" I asked with an eye roll

"I still have to be sure. Ryan, let the guards deal with him please. I don't want something to happen to you again" Brianna said from where she was standing

"Just shoot me already. I can't even hold a gun right now so just end this" Justin said

"I need to know the answer to a question first and you won't be able to answer if you are dead" Ryan said

"What is it? I'm sure it's a stupid question anyway" Justin scoffed

"Did you treat me genuinely from the start? What made you change all of a sudden? Was there something I did to annoy you?" Ryan asked

"Just leave him alone and let's leave this place, I'm having a bad feeling" Brianna said

"I'm going to leave as soon as he answers this question. And why are you having a bad feeling? It's not like anyone of them is still alive" Ryan rolled his eyes

While Ryan turned around to say that, someone pointed a gun behind him. The person probably was going to shoot him and I couldn't think of anything else to do so I just ran forward and took the bullet in his place.

"Helen" I heard Brianna call before I passed out

Brianna's POV

The person that shot Helen was immediately shot by someone else but I couldn't believe my eyes. Why did Helen have to do that?

"Helen" I called and moved my wobbly legs to where she was laying

"It would have been fun if Ryan got shot. Why did that dumb girl have to go there?" Justin smirked

I couldn't even respond to what he said because I wasn't in a right state of mind.

Ryan called the ambulance and asked me to get a hold of myself but I just couldn't. What if something happens to Helen because of me?

One of the guards pulled me up while Ryan carried Helen in his arms. He wanted to take her away from that place so that there won't be anything to implicate us.

*Forty five minutes later*

The doctor finally came out of Helen's ward and Ryan and I rushed to meet him.

"Doctor, how is she? She's okay right?" I asked

"We can't really say she's okay right now? We were able to remove the bullet successfully but she lost a lot of blood before she was brought here and is in a critical condition right now. We can only hope for a miracle right now" the doctor concluded and left

My legs failed me and I almost fell to the ground but Ryan caught me just before I fell.

"What do I do Ryan? I can't lose my best friend" I cried

"You won't lose her, I promise you that" he assured

"The police will like to have a word with one of you" a nurse informed us

"T...the police? But why?" I stuttered

"They need to know how she was shot" the nurse answered

"Alright, I will be there soon" Ryan said and she left

"What are you going to tell them? Don't say anything to implicate yourself because if something happens to you too I won't be able to continue living" I said

"Don't worry about me. Just worry about Helen for now and stay by her side" Ryan concluded and left

How can he just leave me like that? I just hope he gets out of this freely and soon.

I opened the door and went inside Helen's ward. An oxygen mask was placed on her nose and mouth and her face looked pale.

"You shouldn't have been friends with someone like you. If you had someone else as a friend, you would have lived a happier and better life. I'm really sorry for making you go through all this. Just make sure you open your eyes really soon unless you want me to join you wherever you are" I said to her

Writer's POV

Ryan went to see the police and they started asking him questions about the gunshot.

"How was Miss Helen shot?" a policeman asked

"Justin was my longtime friend and he called me out that evening. Brianna didn't want me to go alone because I was just getting better and Helen eventually followed us too.

I think Justin already fought with some men before we got there. He was already shot by the time we arrived there and he was trying to kill me with his last strength when Helen got in the way" Ryan explained

"Do you have any idea about why Mr Justin tried to kill you?" the police asked

"I'm not sure but there was one time he jokingly said he wanted to take over my company. I took it as a joke back then but I guess he really meant it" Ryan answered

"Okay, that's all for now. We will let you know if we have any more questions" the police concluded and left

"You are back so soon?" Brianna exclaimed in surprise when Ryan came into the ward

"I told you not to worry right?" Ryan smiled

"How can I not worry? Anyway, I'm glad you are safe. Now, Helen just needs to ope her eyes" Brianna sighed

"It's late Rian. You should sleep and I'll watch over Helen" Ryan suggested

"No, I'm not feeling sleepy. You should sleep instead, I'm sure you are very tired" Brianna said

"Brianna please! You know how strong I am so just sleep. I will wake you up when I start feeling sleepy" Ryan said

"Are you sure you will wake me up?" Brianna asked

"Of course!" Ryan lied

Brianna went to the couch in the ward and slept immediately while Ryan stayed up all night.

"She looks so beautiful when sleeping" Ryan said while patting Brianna's hair softly

He couldn't sleep so he decided to stare at Brianna's pretty face and soon fell asleep.

*Next morning*

"Didn't I tell you to wake me up?" Brianna asked as soon as Ryan opened his eyes

"Well, you seemed tired so I wanted you to rest" Ryan shrugged

"I will go home first and take my bath. I'll also cook breakfast and bring it here. You can go home to change your clothes after I return" Brianna said

"Alright, I'll watch over Helen then" Ryan said

*Two days later*

Helen didn't open her eyes for two days but that particular morning when Ryan and Brianna were staring at her keenly with sadness in their hearts, she finally opened her eyes.

"She just opened her eyes! I'm not seeing things right?" Brianna asked Ryan

"Yes! She really opened her eyes" Ryan exclaimed

"Why are both of you looking like someone died?" Helen asked in a soft voice, she was obviously still weak

"We thought we lost you but you are here with us again. I really missed you a lot" Brianna said and hugged her tightly

"I'm a patient, please don't choke me to death" Helen joked

"Why will I choke you to death after waiting for you to wake up for two days? What do you want to eat?" Brianna asked

"You! I think you will be really delicious" Helen said and licked her lips

"This girl has finally lost her mind because she was unconscious for two days. We should call the doctor" Brianna said to Ryan

"You couldn't stop crying when she was unconscious but now you are already exchanging words" Ryan rolled his eyes

"Whatever! She's so annoying" Brianna mumbled

"I'm really grateful for what you did Helen, I didn't get to thank you yet. I just hope you won't do something like that again because Brianna almost killed me before you woke up. It's still like I was the one that got shot" Ryan said

"You are lying to my face even though I'm here. Wow! My boyfriend must have gotten a degree in lying, right Helen?" Brianna asked

"Both of you must have gotten it together. Anyway, I'm hungry" Helen said

*3 months later*

"Do you think he's going to propose?" Brianna asked Helen

Ryan called her a few minutes ago to meet her at a hotel. He told her to dress gracefully and also take Helen along with her. Brianna thinks he's going to propose because of what he said

"If you raise your hopes like this, you will be really hurt when are disappointed. Just think you are going out on a normal date with him" Helen advised

Both of them arrived at the venue some minutes later and met Ryan there already

As soon as they say down, the lights went off and a big screen was turned on.

"I know I'm not perfect and I honestly don't know which words to say. I don't want to say the wrong thing but I know exactly what I want so I'll just go straight to the point.

MARRY ME, BRIANNA LAWRENCE" those words were displayed on the screen and Ryan was already on his knees with a ring box in his hand

"Yes! Yes! I will marry you Ryan Santiago" Brianna smiled tears and stretched her finger

"You are really awesome! I'm sure you know this is the best night of my life right?" Brianna asked

She was alone with Ryan on the rooftop of the hotel and they were enjoying the night view together after the proposal.

"It's the best night of my life too because I never thought about getting married in this lifetime" Ryan said

"I'm going to cherish today forever" Brianna said

"Me too. I love you" Ryan professed

"I love you more" Brianna smiled
