Chapter 74

AMY.

“Permanently closed down?” I mumbled and Oliver sighed.

“Why didn't they discuss this with me instead?” Logan interjected with evident displeasure in his countenance.

“Ever since the war, many of them understand that you thoroughly need time and space away from official duties. And I believe that’s what you asked for too, isn't it?” he replied.

Logan’s chest heaved up. “The answer is no,” he pronounced sternly and my lips parted in awe. “Silver Rose Island is never going to be closed down.”

I gulped down my saliva as he stared at me.

“Yes, I understand the many history that comes with that Pack but that is not enough reason for shutting off the Pack. Ten years ago, if my Pack were considered right with their actions then I wouldn't be cursed in the first place. We were wrong and we’re not going to make the same mistake this time. Besides...” His lips pursed as he held my right palm dearly. “Silver Rose Island is my mate’s pack. There were bad eggs but that doesn't mean the Pack didn't have some of the kindest people I know. Amy and Clinton are a living testament.”

Tears filled my eyes as he clung to my palm even tighter. His mannerisms, his words, all echoed one thing—no matter the price, he was willing to fight for the survival of my Pack. After the hell my father has put him through, never did I expect my mate to be this benevolent.

“I plan to lift my grandfather’s punishment on the Lancaster family. Amy is a Wilson now but she is also a Lancaster who stood and fought for the justice of our world. For that alone, her family’s name should be honored.”

Tears almost trickled from my eyes as he smiled at me.

“I very much agree with you,” Oliver chirped while the others nodded in an assertion.

“So what’s going to happen to Silver Rose Pack? It is empty and filled with nothing but ruined buildings,” Clinton said and Logan peered deeply into my eyes as if he knew the thoughts I was entertaining.

“I plan to revamp the structures of the Pack, establish the biggest werewolf academy there is and of course build a medical center and research institute for our kind. All this will only be possible if my Luna is okay with it.”

My smile deepened. He clearly understood my passion for the medical sector.

All eyes fell on me and their eagerness for me to say yes. Why would I even say otherwise?

“I love it,” I mumbled.

“Very good, that way we can attract members to the Pack and soon before we know it, the Pack will be filled again,” Sarah chirped happily while Logan and I nodded.

“I would love to see you on the Pack’s project too,'' I told her and she donned a surprised look. “You’re the head of the tourism department here and you excel at it. I think we’ll need your input on boosting an attraction towards the Pack. Right now, we need to clear the people’s doubt and show them that Silver Rose is no longer the old one.”

She grinned. “It would be my utmost pleasure, Amy.”

“It will take time to rebuild though and the cost…” Macy interjected.

“No matter the cost, I'll handle it,” Logan replied.

“Yeah yeah we get it you’re a ridiculously rich billionaire,” Oliver teased and we all laughed. “Then again, I think we are missing something important here. Who’s going to be the Alpha of Silver Rose?”

Logan and I peered at each other for a while before we diverted our focus to Clinton.

Clinton quickly shook his head, “Nope! I’m sorry but I can't take such a huge position.”

“You deserve it. You earned it," I replied and he heaved a sigh.

“If anyone deserves it, it should be the Lancaster family,” he said.

I frowned. “I'm the only Lancaster left and I can't possibly be the Alpha of the Pack.”

“You’re not the only Lancaster left,” he replied.

“What?!” we all blared in shock.

“Long ago, my father had given me a task to find Hayes’s son.”

“Hayes had a son?” I frowned.

“Hayes had an affair with a rogue before he met your mother. He had a son but she ran away with Hayes’s son and she did pretty well hiding him. Later on, we found out his mother had died but we aren't sure of the son.”

“Why didn't you tell me?” My frown went even deeper.

“I didn't want to give you hope because I'm so sure if he’s still alive. I’m still searching for him though.”

I heaved a deep sigh. For some reason, I wasn’t angry. Instead, I was happy. Happy that somewhere out there, I still had a family member. Then again, what if he was a Rogue or what if he ended up evil like my father?

“We will look into it,” Logan asserted, tousling my thoughts. “Give all the details to Oliver, with our help it won't be long to ascertain whether he is alive or dead. Hopefully, he is.”

“There are not many details about the case though, I have everything on my phone.” Clinton unlocked his phone and fiddled with it a little before passing it to Oliver. “The most important thing that stands out is the birthmark. It's a letter, L, my father said the birthmark is always passed down to the male borns of the family.”

“My father had it on his back too,” I attested.

“I don't know why,” Oliver butted in, “I feel like I've seen this symbol on someone familiar before.”

“Really?!” Logan, Clinton and I blurted at the same time.

“Yeah.” He rubbed his temples. “But not to worry, I’ll look into it. Within a week I should have gotten results.'' He passed the phone to me so I could take a look but nothing on the documents and pictures there sparked a single memory except the birthmark.

“If he’s alive, that doesn't automatically mean he is entitled to the position. We don't know what kind of person he is or the life he has lived. We have to be careful,” Sarah said while we all nodded.

“We’ll take our time, no rush,” I said and Logan smiled. “On another note, you’re going for the movie with us,” I told Oliver and he nodded while he raised his hands in surrender. And just like that, we diverted from the topic. Thinking about it would only cause me to entertain all kinds of thoughts and today, just today, all I wanted to do was be with Logan and enjoy moments together.

Whoever my stepbrother might be, I could only hope to the moon goddess that he wasn't a shade of my father.
