Chapter 73
AMY.
The tweeting of birds from afar was enough to tell me the early morning had already dawned, but I loved the comfort of my bed more. And that comfort was Logan. I was sleeping on top of him. Our fingers were intertwined beneath the blanket while the other fingers gently toured my bare back. I couldn't help but force my eyes open just to see that charming smile of his.
His smile deepened and I found myself enchanted by his golden eyes that gleamed of love.
“Morning,” he greeted me with a kiss on my forehead. My wolf purred within me.
“Morning,” I whispered, rubbing my right index finger back and forth on his cheek. “You’re real.”
“You were heavily drunk last night but it's apparent the effect has not worn off yet.”
“It has, it has just been a long time since I woke up beside you. I thought I had lost you again.”
He patted my hair. “How could you? You spent the whole night holding so tight to me.”
“Is that all that happened last night?” I teased and he cleared his throat. I giggled.
He kissed my lips this time and a faint moan escaped.
“I’m making breakfast today,” he whispered.
“Err, since when did you opt to make breakfast?”
“Since this morning!”
I grinned whilst shaking my head. “Should I look forward to it or be scared?”
“Oh come on, where’s the emotional support here?”
“This.” I kissed him and played with his nose briefly.
His cheeks gleamed a faint red. “You can catch some sleep while I perform magic downstairs. I’ll make sure to surprise you,” he said and got off the bed, naked. I took my time admiring his back and firm butt while he headed into the bathroom. My smile gradually faded once the door closed behind him. I stared at the transparent wall across the room, enjoying the view of the woods. My father’s history had ended yet I still felt pain.
Was this how my Pack’s history was truly going to end?
An hour later I was back on my feet and after my bath, I'd decided to opt for a lazy outfit. Today, I wasn't going to live as the Luna Queen but as Amy Wilson so I chose to wear a brown hoodie and a pair of jean shorts. I headed downstairs and the scent of omelet filled the air. I got to the kitchen and there he was in his apron and hairnet busy with the plates.
“A sandwich is what you wanted to surprise me with?” I teased him while I joined him.
“Have you tasted my bread omelet?!”
“No matter how it tastes you made me hope for one hell of a meal.” I leaned against the cabinet.
“Have a taste.” He gently fed me and my eyes exclaimed in surprise. He wasn't lying! It was the best I'd ever tasted. “See now,” he grinned.
“I take my words back.'' I pecked him. “By the way, where are the maids? I haven't seen anyone around, not even Akira.”
“I gave them a break,” he explained while he filled the plates. This mansion is always packed with several workers, guests and all but today, I want to spend it only with you and our family. We deserve this much privacy, don't we–”
I hugged him from the back and he froze. “This was all I needed today, just you and I,” I whispered and I could tell how bright his smile was. Ever since we mated, it felt like we both understood our needs thoroughly. I could feel his emotions through our mate bond and the sparks? They dosed on a much higher level.
“Woo, something smells nice in here!”
Sarah blared in the living room and I pulled away from him.
“I called our friends over for breakfast,” Logan chirped.
“Really?” I grinned.
“That’s Logan cooking, I recognize it any time!” Oliver added, causing Logan and I to laugh.
“I should go say hi,” I mumbled and he nodded before I left the kitchen.
“Aunt Amy!!” Aubrey ran from her mother’s lap to meet me.
“Oh, darling!” I moaned whilst lifting her; she was holding a bar of chocolate as usual.
“Morning,” Sarah and Oliver greeted me while Simon came to meet me. He bowed his head courteously.
“Morning, Luna,” he greeted.
“What?!” I exclaimed in surprise.
“My dad says as the future Beta of the Pack I need to start learning to take my duties seriously.”
“Oliver!” I pitched and he raised his hands innocently. I held his chin so he could look up at me. “I prefer Aunt Amy and I think you would make quite a decent Beta just like your father.”
He grinned.
“Guess what? The gaming room setup is completed. You wanna check it out?”
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” he screamed excitedly as he ran up the stairs.
“Be careful on the stairs!” Sarah yelled but the young boy kept pacing. We all laughed.
“I should probably help Logan in the kitchen,” Oliver said before leaving. I was about to join Sarah when the door opened and Clinton sauntered inside alongside his mate, Macy.
“Great! You guys made it right on time!” Logan chirped as he came out with the dishes alongside Oliver.
Clinton and I beamed at each other and then I proceeded to meet Macy.
“Good morning, Luna,” Macy sweetly said in her tiny voice.
“Please, Amy is better.'' I smiled. “How’s the baby?'' I asked, giving her slightly bulged stomach a glance.
“He’s kicking,” she replied.
“I do hope Clinton’s not giving you any stress,” Sarah interjected as she came to join us. She blushed. “That’s a good sign, unlike the men we have here who forgot to invite us over to the dining table!” Sarah scolded, staring at the men who were engulfed in their conversation.
“We were just about to, my apologies, ma’am.” Oliver gestured in a grand manner, and just like that, we had spent the better half engrossed in our conversation more than the meal.
“We should go see the movie tonight, it’s been long overdue. What do you guys think?” Logan mumbled.
‘I’m in!” Clinton chirped while Macy nodded.
“It's been quite a while since I’ve had time for the cinema so I’m not missing this one,” Sarah interjected and all attention diverted to Oliver.
“I hate to be the party spoiler here–”
“What could be more important than the movie?” I cut him off.
“Work–” he blurted and immediately regretted letting that word escape seeing Sarah’s glare.
“I thought we agreed to take time off,” Logan mumbled.
“Yeah, but this one is urgent and I was looking to discuss it with you guys. It's about Silver Rose Island.”
My body stiffened and the tension in the air was as loud as a club’s party. “My Pack, what’s wrong?”
“Some Alphas have called in, suggesting that your Pack should be permanently closed down.”
In oblivion, I dropped my sandwich while a sharp pain raged in my chest.
