Chapter 72

LOGAN.

I sauntered out of the bathroom with my towel wrapped around my waist. The night had sunk deep and one could already hear the blaring music from the field. Amy on the other hand was still in her white bathrobe seated before her vanity table, using her hairdryer. My wolf danced in excitement just seeing her alone and I couldn't help but notice her cleavage through her robe. My cock twitched and my mind started fantasizing about going another round with her.

“You’re staring at me like you want to eat me up,” she chirped, still focused on her mirror.

“Oh, I do,” I replied sensually and she rewarded me with a smirk.

“We have a party to attend, remember?”

“Ah,” I sighed and headed to her side, standing behind her chair.

“I get it that you don't like parties and stuff but you should be there. You have no idea how much everyone is overjoyed to see you alive and back in the Pack.”

“I know,” I mumbled. “It's been a rough couple of weeks for us and all I just want to do is spend as much time with you.” I massaged her shoulders gently and she sighed. A sad smile crept on her lips while she turned off the hair dryer even though her hair hadn't dried off completely yet.

“Something’s on your mind,” I commented and she inhaled deeply. I picked up the hair dryer and continued using it on her hair.

“A few days ago, I got married to Clinton. I know it's all annulled now but I still never imagined that I would have to get hitched to anyone but you. My father was a mad man, I’m glad it's all over now.”

I gulped down my saliva, the mirror reflecting my smile. “I never imagined it either, but you know, life comes at us in ridiculous ways sometimes.” I picked up her phone on her table, scrolling through her gallery till I found the perfect video.

“Remember this?” I passed the phone and she immediately started laughing watching the video. It was a recording of me singing at the Karaoke. I remember how much it had cracked her up back then and this time, it didn't fail in giving her the same reaction.

“I don't know how to tell jokes but I hope it cheered you up?”

She looked up at me, grinning. “It did.” We rewatched the video, laughing and when it ended, her hair was all dry.

I held her palm. “This ring,” I mumbled, staring at the royal ring on her finger. “It was already there before Hayes or Clinton came into our lives. You and I already got hitched at heart even before any marriage, Amy.”

Her smile deepened.

“Amy,” I called. “Do you–”

“Don't even ask,” she beamed. “I want to get married to you. I want to be your Luna.”

My head lowered to place a kiss on her neck. “You are my Luna and always will be.”

She giggled sheepishly. “Now go dress up and have some fun at the party.”

My hands wandered to her chest.

“Nope.” She tapped my hands off.

“Fine, I'll get ready,” I rolled my eyes and lazily wandered to the wardrobe.

Midnight drifted over time but the party was still well alive. Amy was dancing with Sarah and the others, she was drunk with them ladies. Oliver and I on the other hand just stood from a distance watching everyone enjoy themselves in their ways.

“The moon goddess really loves us, you know,” Oliver mumbled. “Hayes was everyone’s nightmare but somehow we conquered that fate.”

“Whenever I think about it, I feel like this is our second chance,” I responded and he gulped his beer. “All our lives, we’ve been far too engrossed in work. Never really invested so much time in family and perhaps that was one of the many reasons that fueled my many terrible decisions. It’s high time we change and be there for our mates, our family.”

He sighed, a tiny smile painting his face.

“Amy once told me about how she and Sarah had to deal with the constant fears of losing us to wars someday,” I continued while his smile melted into a sad one. “They could have lost us in this war and that would have been my greatest regret.”

“I would have considered myself a failure,” he commented and then we both drank our beers in silence.

“You know what, I think we should take a long break from work. How about that?”

“You read my mind,” he beamed while my mother walked towards us. “Err, and this is my cue.” He tapped my shoulder before rushing to join Sarah.

I gazed into the sky, admiring the moon's shade amidst the stars. This was my second chance to have it all, to be a better man. Facing Hayes made me realize one thing, no matter how hellish life might be, trusting my family should never be discarded.

“Isn't she perfect?” my mother asked while she joined me by the side.

“Never did I think I would see you drink again,” I remarked, noting the beer in her hand.

She laughed. “My son almost faced a public execution and I could have potentially lost my wonderful daughter in a war as well. I think we all deserve to cut ourselves some slack for surviving a terrible fate.”

I chuckled and took another drink.

“During your absence, Amy fared pretty well as a leader,” she muttered while I stared at her. “She never faltered for a second even when she had to make painful decisions. She is perfect for you.” she beamed at me.

“I know,'' I nodded like a child. “I'm sorry, Mom, I should have listened to you earlier. Things wouldn't have become so complicated.”

She patted my back. “I forgive you, we are all bound to make mistakes.”

“Well, Dad certainly never made costly mistakes. If he were alive today, he probably would have scolded me.”

Her smile deepened. “Your father wasn't always the perfect man you knew him to be. Before we had you, he had his flaws. He was once like you, he would make terrible decisions when he was nervous. Together, we fixed that. We fixed each other flaws and became what we are today.”

I sighed.

“Amy is the one for you, your shield, the glue that holds the pieces of you together. Don't screw it up.”

“Yes, Mom.”

“So what are your plans now?” she asked.

“Amy is my priority now.” My lips pursed as my gaze fell to the grass beneath us. “We won the war but deep down she is still burdened. You should have seen the way she broke down when she faced her father. She couldn't bring herself to kill the man she once knew as a dear man and I get it. I finally understand why I got cursed in the first place.” A sad smile crept onto my lips. “No matter Hayes’s monstrosity, his Pack didn't deserve to be destroyed. I lied and I was distrustful of her for the better half of our lives together, it's shameful really." I peered deeply into my mother’s eyes greatly endeared. “I intend to correct my mistakes, Mom. No matter how long it takes.”

“Come here, darling.” She pulled me in for a hug. “I’m proud of the man you’re becoming.”

I heaved a sigh of relief as we separated.

“Well, I should probably kickstart the official marriage between the two of you. A proper coronation ceremony this time.” Both of us chuckled.
