Chapter 201: 201. Her Defense

Before the sun bid goodbye to the forest of the Langston Palace and took away the rays of light that it bestowed for the day, Maleficus and Beta Derek decided that we show the enemies our strength. I stood behind them who fought hard to keep me behind the walls of the Palace, however as I challenge Beta Derek to either fight me or we fight together, the old man Maleficus insisted to follow my orders.

We have a group of warriors already waiting by the roads so the enemies will be seen even before they enter the borders of the Royal pack. My heart is thumping loudly inside my chest as I am standing with my feet bare and only a house dress on. Hundreds of warriors behind my back and another hundreds in the front. We are all ready to shift and defend the Langston Palace.

"I hate standing here with you your majesty, waiting for the enemy to approach is not my thing. I should have stayed in the front roads to meet the first enemy who enters our way. This is ridiculous."

Beta Derek murmured with a hint of anger in his eyes, do wolves who are about to fight always acts grumpy like he is. I know him to be calm but right now he is far from it. Maleficus tap him on the shoulders.

"Don't be so nervous Beta Derek, this is not your first fight. I understand you are that worried about her majesty's safety however you need to trust our plan. If these wolves do not have a wizard like me, they will all be running away. We can avoid bloodshed."

I nodded my head and took a deep breath in to calm my nerves. I look behind me and notice how the other wolves are standing still with their mind focus on what about to happen, some of them are she wolves like me.

"I swear to protect myself and apply whatever I have learned from our training. The Moon Goddess will protect us, and just like what Maleficus said, let us hope that we can avoid too much bloodshed."

Maleficus look at the sky which is now starting to get dark. "They are approaching the roads! Everyone get ready!"

Beta Derek lowered his back and the wolves on the front began to howl. The loud noise alerted the warriors with me. Then I followed Beta Derek as he shifted into his big wolf, I shifted too. Transforming into my wolf form has now become as easy as chewing breakfast in the morning, ever since I have been practicing my strength in daily training.

"Beta Derek, please calm the wolves and let me do according to what we have planned."

Maleficus close his eyes after the brief instruction to Beta Derek. He howled loudly to the air and cause the warriors to calm down from behind us. The only one left who is not using his wolf form is Maleficus, no one saw him transformed before. They say that he is half witch and half wolf but he does embrace his other part thus making him avoid the wolf transformation. We are very lucky to have him.

The growls of our enemies approaching the roads made me grit my teeth. The fight has already started among the warriors guarding the front line. I hope they are alright.

Then a thick smoke appeared from the sky and all the front is covered, I could not see anything. Maleficus kneeled on the ground while raising his arms above him and his face looking up at the sky, a loud thunder appeared above in front of us and then the thick smoke disappears. My eyes could not believe what I have seen as the warriors in front of us doubled in numbers and the wolf of Alpha King Vincent appears!

"Alpha King Vincent!"

I shouted through the mind link, however he did not look back at me. Instead he stood proudly and fiercely as his fur bristles. He make a loud growl that made the dark wolves who were trying to approach whimper. Our number increases and it causes them to shout in fear.

Their eyes look stunned as Alpha King Vincent growled loudly and made an aggressive snarl. My heart hammering inside my chest as I realize the wolf of my Alpha King Vincent is not really around. He is a creation of Maleficus as he stays kneeling on the ground and groaning. A trick to conquer our enemies without using force.

Beta Derek stood still beside me, I know he wanted to leave my side and go fight the rogues however, his aim is to protect me first and that I cannot argue with him. Alpha King Vincent snarled once again and ordered the rogues to submit. His Alpha King presence is so real that I can feel the chills through my bones.

His anger is not directed to us but to his enemies, and now all the rogues tremble in fear. They thought Alpha King Vincent is not here in the Langston Palace and now they regret even thinking of invading the Royal pack. They whimpered and the rogues in the front kneeled before Alpha King Vincent while the others run back as fast as they could.

Alpha king Vincent let out a loud snarl showing his fangs and the rogues left whimpered to the ground. Beta Derek runs to help the Royal pack warriors in tackling the rogues. Now is the time to conquer the enemies. Some who have escaped will not be chased for we are only relying on the projection of our Alpha King. Maleficus and I look at each other, we have achieved victory.

"It's over."

Maleficus wave his hand and slowly stand up from the ground. I watch the wolf form of Alpha King Vincent who look at me and then slowly vanishes just like the thick smoke in the air. I wish it was him, it feels like him and I miss him so much. The pain in my heart is unbearable that I almost cried.

"Everybody help Beta Derek and take our prisoners to the dungeons of the Langston palace. The enemies are gone and they won't be back. The fight is over, we have won!"

Maleficus declares and then Beta Derek made a loud howling noise followed by all the warriors of the Royal pack. I shifted back into my human form and I look up in the sky thanking the Moon Goddess for our unexpected victory. The plan worked and we have not lost a single warrior in the pack. There are wolves wounded but we can nurse them back to health, I smiled even though it hurts that Alpha King Vincent is not here.

"Thank you Maleficus, I was not expecting that your plan would worked."

Maleficus smiled in triumph. "I wasn't sure myself your majesty, we are lucky however I fear for something."

I glanced at him fiercely from watching the warriors apprehending few prisoners. "What is that?"

I can't stop my worries from again flooding inside my brain. "The rogues who came seemed to be weaker than I thought, they must be only the lower ranks of wolves from their pack and they look the same as the enemies whom I saw in my vision."

"Tell me what vision Maleficus, I cannot handle another attack again if Alpha King Vincent is not here."

Maleficus look at me straight in the eyes. "You can handle anything Luna Ashley, you have shown how brave you are today. For all the warriors of the Royal pack, you never leave them. You argue with Beta Derek and choose to stand with everyone whenever they needed most. You are a brave and reliable Luna with a heart that loves the pack. You can withstand any threat, your majesty."

I am not sure if I am worthy of the old man's praises right now but I must hear about his vision. "Thank you Maleficus, we could have died without you."

He bows his head. "You are always welcome your majesty. The vision I have before Alpha King Vincent left, showed me the dark wolves. But the wolves who attack us today are not all dark. The reason I fear is that most of the warriors who came are weak if they are from the same group as the enemies of the West it could only mean that the wolves fighting Alpha King Vincent are the real deal."

I close my eyes in disappointment and worry. But I must believe that Alpha King Vincent is the strongest of all the wolves in this world, no matter who his enemies are. He will come back to me in one piece, he promises me that and I believe him. I will wait for his return, I know he will.
