Chapter 202: War in the West

Alpha King Vincent

The air feels different, the winds that blow from the East will past the trees and the tall grasses carrying the scent of flowers and the insects that joins the course of nature. However, it doesn't feel normal anymore. Every day since I arrived in the West, I make it a habit to sit by the balcony and used my heightened sense of smell to get familiarized myself with the scent around me. And now I am certainly aware of the strange scents that mix with the usual scents that I inhale every day.

My eyes squinted as I tried to look much closer into the tall trees. Calib who just left to run some errands is still in the mansion, I can feel his footsteps going down the stairs. But before he could leave, I opened the mind link to call him.

"Calib, come back. I want you to see something."

I feel his movements stop and then he walks towards the stairs and back into the door which leads to the balcony. "What is it, your majesty?"

His eyes meet mine when I turn around to see him. "Come, look at those mountains from the far distance after the trees. Have you noticed the difference?"

I am noticing some movements with the tall grasses which did not go with the course of the wind. "Your majesty, my eyesight is not as clear and sharp as yours however I would go for a run and check there with the warriors of the West."

"Do it now and I will be here watching."

There was a strong urge in my voice that made him move quickly to exit the door. The movements stopped yet I did not leave the place from my sight, I have a strong feeling that some wolves are hiding underneath the tall grass.

I could also feel that someone is watching me. Just then from a far distant group of trees, a shining spec of light reflected the ray of sun and I saw a man on the branch of a tree holding binoculars and looking into the place where I am standing.

"Damn you!"

Without delay I shifted into my wolf form and leap off the balcony. When my feet reach the ground I let out a loud growl and then another. Alerting all the wolves of the Western pack. I heard the answer coming from Calib and also of the warriors who came with us from the Langston Palace, the enemies are already here, and that is for certain. Something was changed from the vision of Maleficus.

I ran as fast as I could, faster than the wind through the woods outside the mansion and into the trees that surrounds the lands of the Western pack. I open the mind link and ask where is Calib.

"Your majesty, we are right behind you. I apologize but we could not keep up on your pace right now."

I understand the situation for I am giving a full speed ahead of them. The trees in the farther distance is what I saw from the balcony and I was sure that someone is there. So I ran faster and then arrived at the huge tree with the branches spread outwards, I sniff the air and smell the scent. I growled loudly, I cannot be mistaken.

When the leaves of the tree moves a shot echoes through the forest. "Agh! You bastard!"

I winch in pain as the bullet hit my shoulders the man above the tree adjusted himself on the branch and I snarled as the bullet went inside my flesh, it is made with silver. How shrewd!

However, before he could make another move I leap to the lowest branch and climb up.

"Huh!"

The fear in his eyes widened as I grab him by the neck with my claws sharper than knives. He gurgles and choke his breath as I began to break his neck and then throw him lifeless in the ground just like he was nothing.

"Your majesty?"

Calib and the warriors arrive below the tree that I climbed. I jump down and meet their startled faces. The wound on my shoulders showed as I shifted slowly into my human form.

"Your majesty are you alright?"

Calib made a worried frown and all of them watches as I tried clenching my muscles so hard and squeeze the bullet out. It was very hot, I could feel my flesh burning as it made its way out of my shoulders. They look stunned when the bullet hit the ground and I groaned.

"I think I will be alright. But all of you must be careful not to get hit by the bullets from those snipers. I saw them from the balcony of the mansion, they are above the trees we must make a thorough search now!"

"Yes your majesty!"

From looking down on the man who just shot me, Calib and I together with the warriors began our search on the tall trees that surrounds the borders of the Western pack. Alpha Xander is in the training hall and I am certain that he has heard my loud growl.

"Your majesty, where are you?"

His voice on the mind link is lace with worry.

"I am with Calib and the warriors at the borders, stay in the mansion Alpha Xander until we finished our mission."

"No! I am coming your majesty, I heard a gun shot. Was anybody shot?"

I inhaled deeply as I signaled the wolves to stop and look at the tree beside a stream, it has marks on the trunks. Someone has just climbed it using a hunter knife.

"Don't come your majesty please stay there and wait until I give the instructions."

My command is not allowing him to refuse as I close the mind link. The tree branch move and the leaves fall to the ground. Calib growls and the warriors shook the tree trunk revealing the man who is hiding above. "Come down now or I will have you taken down by one of the warriors!"

He trembled hearing my voice and it wasn't enough as he hold on to his riffle. "You cannot use that for it doesn't work on me!"

I smirk and signaled the warrior beside Calib to climb and take down the man. We waited down while he was grabbed by the warrior on his neck. He took his rifle and was about to shoot the warrior when I snarled at him and he fell from the warrior's hold. When he reached the ground he has lost consciousness.

"What shall we do with him, your majesty?"

I gritted my teeth, how does the enemy convince these humans to get involved in our fight? This isn't right!

"Take him as a prisoner."

I was thinking of how the grasses move and where are the others. When the howling of the wolves begins, the ground shook and the wind smelled of blood. The blood of the warriors who are guarding the road of the West.

"Damn it! We must help the warriors on the roads now!"

Our feet moved together as we heard the cries and whimpers of the wolves losing the fight.

"Your majesty! I am coming now!"

Alpha Xander cried out loud in the mind link he can feel the death of his warriors one by one. How could the enemies be these strong where are they coming from? The stench of blood mixes the air as we arrived near the roads.

Black wolves all big and with eyes that are as red as blood stood in number above the pile of dead bodies from the warriors of the West.

"So long your majesty! I am glad you came back to help Xander."

His voice sounded familiar but the grumpiness is different from before. Now I know completely who he is.

"Rio! How dare you killed the warriors whom you have once lived with?! Those are the warriors who defended your pathetic life while you are here in the Western pack!"

He laugh loudly, amused with the comments I made. This man has lost his sanity, his wolf form has become huge and nothing like I have thought before.

"I am not with the Western pack anymore! You know how I was cast out of these lands where my ancestors used to leave. Now, your majesty, you will also suffer my wrath. All of you think that humans are weak but I have made them strong! Now you watch them kill the warriors of the West!"

His evil laughter made the blood in my veins boil in rage. We have a peace treaty with humans and now where do they stand, if they violated the rules of the Alpha King, war will start including the humans!

"Have you lost your mind!? You recruited these humans for the war created from your greed and ambition! You knew this is a huge mistake, the alphas in all regions will be affected if they know that humans got involved in this fight!"

His eyes lit up. "That is a part of my plan, your majesty! For your rights to be tramped and for this war to start!"
