Chapter 44
Chapter 44
Layco's eyes narrowed at her. Later, the woman gently hit Layco's chest and he giggled. "What are you? Don't tell me, have you forgotten me? This is Valeen. I'm in your class in a subject
in Saint Claire?"
Layco frowned even more as if he didn't know what the woman was saying. He smiled awkwardly. "Ah, really? I can't remember anymore."
The woman immediately frowned then hit Layco's chest again. "It's you. Anyway, what are you doing here?" It said flirtatiously.
Layco did not immediately move. Later I felt him holding my hand again. "I'm here with my girl. We're visiting someone. If you'll excuse us?"
Before the woman could answer, Layco pulled me away. when I looked back at the woman, she was looking at me sharply.
When we turned into the hallway, I withdrew my hand and distanced myself slightly from him. I feel like he can hear my chest heaving again because of what he said earlier.
"That's nothing, Savanah. don't be mad." he said seriously as we walked.
I swallowed and focused my attention on the floor. "I'm not asking."
I bit my bottom lip when I realized my tone was tinged with annoyance.
After a while he laughed softly. My eyes narrowed when I looked at him and saw a meaningful smile on his lips.
"I went to med school before to pursue my dream to become a surgeon but I ended up getting kicked out for hooking up with the professor's daughter." he laughed again but he didn't take his eyes off me. "At least I'm a changed man now."
I raised my eyebrows and laughed sarcastically. I remembered that scene in his room while I was in the bathroom.
"I don't think so." untag
I'm the one who laughs weakly.
he stopped walking. His eyes narrowed at me while there's a meaningful smirk written on his lips.
My eyes widened when in an instant he was in front of me while my back was wedged against the cold wall.
The smile on his lips widened as one of his arms slowly wrapped around my waist while one of his hands held both of my hands and placed them above my head.
My heart beat was deafening. our proximity is killing me in the most romantic way I could possibly imagine. He leaned closer until his face was almost an inch away from mine. He just let me look at his bright eyes.
His warm breath fanned my face as he released a deep sigh. "If I'm not, then you're probably in my bed the moment I first laid my eyes on you, Savanah... You have no idea how much effort I'm exerting to control myself whenever you're near." the huskiness of his voice brought shivers down my spine.
his eyes focused on my slightly open mouth. I heard him gulp. I saw how he bit his lower lip as if he's trying his best to control himself.
"And seeing you tease me that way makes me weak. I don't think I can still handle this... I wanna give in. i wanna feel my lips against yours...badly."
I closed my eyes as his face gradually approached. My muscles were shaking for some inexplicable reason. Later I felt his breath on the side of my ear.
A soft chuckle left his lips. "Next time, don't tease me... Maybe I'll tell the truth."
He backed away laughing. When I opened my eyes, we were a few steps apart. His eyes stared at me lazily.
Soon a sound caught our attention. He jerked his phone out of his pocket. I remained leaning against the wall and didn't know what to do as I watched him answer the call irritated.
"What do you want?!" It is loud to the interlocutor. Later, the wrinkle on his forehead suddenly disappeared. His expression gradually darkened. he caught his senses then let out a deep breath. "Take full control until I get there." he said seriously before hanging up.
He let out a deep breath again as he turned to me. "I'm sorry but we have to go home now."
I frowned upon hearing this. "I thought it was two days? Why is it so early?"
He washed his palm over his face. I could feel the deep worry and anger in his eyes.
"Brenther is under attack."
after I said goodbye to Markus, Layco and I almost ran to his car.
Entering the car, I immediately fastened my seatbelt. He did the same thing before finally starting the engine. Before he turned the car, he glanced at me.
"Hold on tight. I'll speed up the operation." he said seriously. I just nodded and took a deep breath.
I gasped when the car started. I suddenly felt nervous when I saw that we were running at about 90KPH. we were lucky and there were no more cars because it was late at night.
When we got out of Astrid, she was running even faster. From 90KPH the speed of the car eventually became 120KPH. I gripped my seatbelt tightly. never once have I experienced riding in a vehicle with such speed.
I looked at Layco. The expression on his face was so dark. His jaw clenched and his grip on the steering wheel was too tight. I can feel his tension, his anger, his fear for his people.
I tried to lift one of my hands and hold his shoulder. He glanced at me for a moment when I gently squeezed him then tried to smile. "It's gonna be okay, Lay..." I mumbled.
Gradually the expression on his face softened. he let out a deep breath.
I was stunned when one of his hands took my hand and placed it on the other side
of his lips and gently placed a kiss on the back of my palm. When he looked at me again, there was a tired smile on his lips. "Thank you..." he whispered.
I tried to smile then nodded. When he let go of my hand, I couldn't help but bite my lower lip. I feel things again that only he can make me feel.
the three-hour flight home we only got one hour because of some short cuts and quick operation by Layco.
In the distance we could see the fires. Screams and howls echoed around. It comes from the center of town.
When we arrived at the castle, he ran down and turned around to open the door for me. After I got off, he suddenly covered my head with his jacket then he hugged me lightly as we entered the castle. I can't see anything. he served as my guide to walk.
The next thing I heard were some footsteps of people running towards us. When Layco let go of me, a pair of hands grabbed my arm again.
"Take her down stairs, make sure she'll be safe with the others." Layco said firmly to the person who held my arm.
"Yes, Alpha..." said a familiar voice before it finally guided me to walk again.
I tried to lift the jacket to see Layco but I only caught a glimpse of his back before he finally got out with some other men.
I suddenly felt fear for him. I couldn't stop holding tightly to his jacket. Hold on to it
his smell.
"Don't worry. Alpha is a strong lycan. He can't be knocked down easily."
I turned my gaze to Grant who was helping me down. I have never been to this part of the castle. only Layco personnel are allowed to go down here.
"Who attacked?" I asked worriedly.
He let out a sad air. "An enemy pack from Quinzel."
I frowned. Quinzel is a quiet district adjacent to Remorse. I didn't think there were lycans in that small place. Only three towns make it up. The Devian, Hampshire, and Perimond. After all, those towns are only as small as Bersant.
After we went down the spiral staircase I was exposed to several prisons. it was very dark and it seemed like every step I took immediately echoed all around.
I stopped for a moment and looked at Grant in fear. "W-why are we here? Shall I be locked up?"
Grant forced a smile. "Don't worry. This is the safest place for humans like you. the bars are made of silver. The lycans will not let you in. With you inside are Mrs. Perkins."
Somehow I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard the name of our butler. I just tried to smile and nodded. we continued walking again until we reached the end of the cell. Inside is Mrs. Perkins, sister Beth, and several other assistants who were not lycans.
From the inside, Mrs. Perkins is the lock. There was a deep worry on his face.
