Break Up

Break Up

Lynn is sitting in the coffee shop and waiting for someone to arrive. She sighed for the tenth time today while looking back from her watch to the shop’s window. She then took another sip of her coffee and again leaned in her chair.

“Where are you now?” She asked herself while she looked once again at her watch and looked back to the window; the shop bells rang signals that someone had entered the shop. She looks at the door, and her smile draws on her lips as soon as she sees Chad approaching her. He looked tired, and he had puffy eyes. Lynn notices some things about Chad, but she ignores them even though it hurts her to see him like this; Chad looks miserable.

“What happened to you, Chad?” She asks herself, but then she sighs and gives Chad another smile. As soon as he sits, he sits on his chair.

“What do you want?” He asks in his cold voice; Lynn looks down and secretly flinches her hand under the table.

“Come on Lynn, you can do this..” She said to herself, so she looked up again and gave him another smile.

“Stop smiling like that, you look like crazy.” He commented, but Lynn ignored his words.

“I invite you to be here because I want to give these back to you.” She said, grabbing one box of things beside her and pulling it to the top of the table. Chad recognizes those things, so he looks at her with his frowning brows.

“For what?” He asks; Lynn puts down her hands again and flinches together, trying to keep herself calm while looking into Chad’s tired eyes.

“Because I will move to the States and start a new life again.” She said, so Chad stopped for a second as he heard her words; Lynn looked down and sighed again. This is harder than what she thinks will happen. She’s hurting as she really loves Chad and has already made plans for them in the future, but it would be best to leave him and start a new life far away from this town where he’s near. Lynn knows that Natalie is no longer interested in Chad, and so is Chad, and instead of taking advantage of being with Chad, she chooses herself because Lynn knows that she is essential.

“And?” Chad asks with his cold voice. “Are you leaving me and breaking up with me?” He added, so Lynn looked at him and gave him a sad smile; this time, her tears fell down even though she tried to stop them and keep her calm. She’s still weak regarding Chad, the only man she loves the most from the start. But because of that love, she hurts someone and starts to break someone's trust; that love also breaks her friendship with Natalie, so she thinks she doesn’t deserve to continue loving him.

“Thank you for giving the best to me, treating me fairly, making me feel lovable, and accepting me for who I am.” She said with her cracked voice; Chad became emotionless at this point while he was looking at Lynn.

“I just think we should stop our relationship and start new life separately, I think there is a woman who will still love you after all, but please don’t break her heart again, just like what you did to Natalie, and don’t do not give in to temptation that will lead you to ruin relationship, just like what we did.” She said and wiped her own tears.

“I learned so many things from you, and I just wanted to say sorry for not giving you the life that you wanted and not protecting our supposed-to-be baby.” Lynn became more emotional as soon as she said those words. Until now, it hurts her so much knowing that her baby died because of her own actions and because she didn’t protect it.

Chad looked in the other direction and couldn’t think straight at that moment; he didn’t know what to say or how to react now that Lynn was breaking up with him. He is so numb at this point that he can’t feel his tears flowing down to his eyes already.

“I’m sure some other woman can give you a baby in the future and will protect that baby no matter what.” Lynn said and grabbed Chad’s at the top of the table. Because of what she did, Chad turned to look at her again, and she gave him a genuine smile.

“I know that it’s hard for us if we continue this. I have traumas now, and you still have to apologize to Natalie after what we did to her, Chad. I already talked to her last time and tells her what I am planing.” Lynn said; Chad sighed and slowly removed Lynn’s hand from him so Lynn could look at it before she turned to look at him.

“I can’t say anything,” Chad said with his cracked voice. He was looking at him directly into her eyes.

“If that’s what you want, then I will respect it.” He added, so Lynn smiled again. Chad swallows and gives her a forced smile.

“At least we have closure in our breakup, and it makes me feel secure and happy that, after all the pain we had as partners, it has ended peacefully,” Chad said, and his tears started to fall again.

“Please don’t cry.” Lynn chuckles and wipes Chad’s tears; Chad laughs and looks up before he looks back to Lynn again.

“Just know that I’m still happy for your decision and will always here at your side if you need me in future.” He said.

“So what’s your plan now?” Lynn asks, so Chad leans to his head and smiles.

“I will find myself first, and just like you say, I will start a new life again, and I hope Natalie forgives me for what I did to her.” He said, which made Lynn happy; at least she knew that Chad wanted to change himself after all.

“That’s good to hear. And I hope to see you soon again, Chad.” She said and stood up.

“Yeah, me too.” He said while looking at her.

“Goodbye, Chad,” Lynn said before she turned her back to him.

“See you again, Lynn.” He said as he watched her leave the shop.
