Chapter 224

"What am I supposed to do?" Marcus grinned wickedly. "Since Grandpa doubts me, I gotta crush his illusions."

Skylar's heart raced. "You planning to go after Victoria?"

Marcus sneered, "Scared, huh?"

Skylar shook her head. "No way."

Marcus scoffed. "If you're not scared, why stop me?"

He chuckled, "Trying to hold me back?"

Surprisingly, Skylar nodded. "Yes, I wanna stop you."

Marcus frowned. "What's your deal with Victoria?"

Skylar rolled her eyes. "What relationship could I have with that hick?"

Marcus seemed to agree. Skylar was always with Thalia, not Victoria. It made sense for her not to help Victoria.

Confused, he asked, "Then why stop me?"

"I'm not stopping you from dealing with Victoria," Skylar clarified. "Actually, your plan isn't bad."

"Rather be safe than sorry."

"Even though their intentions were unclear earlier, I've thought about it," Skylar said slyly. "If they really cure your grandpa through Victoria, you're in for a rough ride."

Marcus clenched his jaw. "So why stop me?"

"Wait, hear me out," Skylar persisted. "I believe in using force. But no matter what, always have an escape plan."

"You don't have to get your hands dirty."

Marcus hesitated, furrowing his brow.

Seeing this, Skylar said seriously, "Don't underestimate me. Whether or not Victoria is Anouk's contact, she's Edward's wife now. Even if she fools him, leaving evidence for Edward could complicate your life, even if you control the Hamilton family."

"I..."

Initially, Marcus wanted to argue, but her words made sense upon reflection.

Ignoring Victoria was one thing, but Edward was another.

Annoyed, he asked, "So, should we just drop this?"

Skylar shook her head. "No way. I'm saying you shouldn't do it yourself, but someone else should!"

Marcus was surprised at first, then nodded. "You're right. Got anyone in mind?"

Without hesitation, Skylar said, "Thalia."

"Thalia?"

Marcus hesitated at the suggestion.

"What, having doubts?" Skylar teased.

Marcus chuckled. "What are you talking about?"

Skylar huffed, staying silent.

Seeing her displeased look, Marcus sighed, "You know what I'm thinking, right?"

"I'm not unsure. I don't want her messing things up."

Thalia wasn't as sharp as Skylar.

Skylar raised an eyebrow. "Do you really know Thalia? Is she the right choice to handle Victoria?"

Marcus had a sudden realization.

He grinned, lifted Skylar's chin, and smirked, "No wonder I like you so much."

"You're sharp."

Skylar didn't play it down, kissing him directly. "Since Mr. Hamilton is so fond of me, remember me when you're in charge of the Hamilton family."

Naturally, Marcus agreed.

After a moment of closeness, he called Thalia.

Following Skylar's lead, Thalia didn't hesitate to bring up the topic herself.

The next day.

Victoria was surprised when Terry, now her boss, assigned her to see patients right after becoming a regular employee.

She hesitated, "Dr. Perez, I don't have a medical license yet. Is it okay for me to see patients at the hospital?"

Terry waved it off. "Don't worry, I'll supervise you!"

Initially, he just wanted to give Victoria some practice, but after observing her acupuncture technique closely, he was impressed.

He cautiously asked Victoria about her skills, which she seemed unaware of.

However, Terry had a gut feeling.

Few knew that he had worked on projects with the Anouk team years ago, giving him some insight into Anouk.

Terry suspected Victoria had more connections than he did.

He kept this to himself, deciding to shadow Victoria and study her acupuncture technique.

Seeing his determination, Victoria had to relent.

"Dr. Perez, you need to watch me closely. If I make a mistake, it could damage your reputation."

Many patients came to the hospital specifically for Terry's reputation.

Terry nodded with a smile.

Victoria then called in the next patient.

The couple who came in were from the countryside. The age filled in the medical record wasn't very large, but they looked much older than their actual age.

The woman cried upon seeing Victoria. "Doctor, you have to save our family! My husband is our rock. If something happens to him, we're done for."

She was about to kneel before Victoria.

Victoria quickly helped her up. "Don't worry, let me examine him first."

Noticing their modest attire, she decided against ordering tests like X-rays or ultrasounds and opted to diagnose the man directly.

Initially concerned, Victoria discovered the man only had minor chronic stomach issues, nothing serious.

She carefully told Terry, "It seems like a chronic stomach problem, nothing major. Could you take a look?"

Terry examined and agreed swiftly, "You're right. It's not serious. Prescribe some meds and dietary advice."

"Sure, I'll write a prescription for you."

The couple hesitated.

Victoria asked, "What's wrong? Any concerns? If you doubt me, Dr. Perez can write the prescription."

The man shook his head. "No, Doctor, we trust you. But in our hometown, we heard acupuncture can help. Could you give me a treatment?"

Victoria frowned.

She didn't see the need for acupuncture since the man's condition wasn't severe.
