Hunt
"So this is terrible. How do I find an elder in this street filled with people?" Sam mused as he walked along the path that had been delegated to him.
Suddenly, he saw some guards hurrying towards him and his heart flew into the bottom of his stomach.
Had the leader of the guards ratted them out?
But to his amazement and relief, the guards marched past him and he let out the breath that he didn't even realize he was holding.
"She slipped out like the wind, I could swear she lothere that very instant." One of the ladies was saying as Sam passed by but though he was tempted yo stop by and listen to what had happened, the fact that he had a task to accomplish stopped him from doing so.
According to what he had heard when he was in the prison, there was supposed to be something like a hall down the road where the elders gathered to deliberate on issues and listen to public opinion leisurely.
And that only meant that he was delving to where all the elders was most likely to be seated.
But then again, the shadows wouldn't be interested to listen to public opinion and what not so it was a shot that he had to untilize.
Soon he realized that the guards were now inquiring about whoever they were searching for from the passerby's and villagers.
As he walked on, he halted as they called out to him
"Hey, stop right there." The command came ringing out with a voice as clear as crystal and authoritative at the same time.
Trying to appear all cool and usual, he halted and pivoted to meet their eyes.
"You're coming from down the lane right?" They asked and he nodded his head in the affirmative.
"Have you seen any young girl about your age, with brown short hair, mismatched eye color about 5-6 foot tall?" They questioned and for a moment his tongue was tied and unable to produce any word even when he opened it.
There was no doubt the person they were talking about was ALEC.
"Have you see here? Give us an answer because there's no time to waste." The guards growled at him before he shook his head vehemently.
"No, i haven't seen anyone with that Description." He answered and they nodded before they finally let him continue to his destination.
"I think I've seen you with her and some other kids your age." One of the guards called our and Sam stopped.
Though his back was to them, he could feel the burning gaze that was on him.
"I'm sorry, I don't make friends so you might be mistaking me with someone else." Sam answered without turning to spare them any glance.
"So what are you saying and why did you hesitate before answering? To me this kid is one hell of a shady person." The guard replied and one of the warriors stepped forward.
"Who gave you the right to command, Ser Meryn?" The leader of that search party questioned and Ser Meryn, the warrior that had stepped forward swerved to look at him while the other guards halted.
"I am one of the top warriors here and I have every right to command the guards." Ser Meryn replied and the leader of that search party stood up.
Every where was calm and yet the atmosphere was tense because this wasn't the first time such beef arose amongst two top generals and it all ends in a duel that is to death.
"Say that again." The leader of the search party challenged and Sam saw this as an opening to slip out without getting noticed.
They could banter on for all he cared.
As cunning as a chameleon and as wise as a serpent, Sam slipped out and began walking down the street to his initial destination.
What had Alec done to attract such attention? Sam couldn't get that thought out of his head.
That was the minute he realized the use of the air pod like chip the leader of the technology unit had given them.
They should be able to communicate with one a no the.
Press the button that would activate it, he called out.
"Hey guys." He muttered hoping that somehow, technologically more like magically, they could hear him if they had activated theirs.
"Is that you, Sam speaking into my ears?" Alec's voice came through and Sam gasped.
Though the gasp was for a couple of things but he just kept moving on.
Firstly, the gasp was for the fact that the air pods actually worked and secondly because he presumed with the guards on Alec's trail that she was probably in in custody.
"Yeah, that's me. I was checking out if they truly work so tell me, why do you have a bunch of humans out on the street looking for you like its some kind of hobby?" Sam questioned and Alec scoffed.
"Long story, but I'll make sure they don't find me." Alec concluded and Sam nodded like she would be able to see that through the pods.
"Yeah, you need to make sure of that we won't be a team without you. I think I found my prey." Sam said as she looked ahead and saw three of the elders seating together discussing like normal people and from the outlook, you would almost believe that they had no shadow in them.
"Well, go get em." Alec said and Sam heaved a sigh.
He only needed a plan that would separate the elders.
There was no way he would be able to take out three on his own and he couldn't go in and just pick one up and pop right out.
He had to be witty in this.
And he couldn't wait the whole day for the elders to disassociate so he had to help them speed up things.
"Hey Alec, how do I connect with the control team?" Sam questioned as he kept his eyes fixated on the three elders that didn't suspect anything was going on in the background.
"I think they already hear you so you just have to speak with them and they would reply." Alec answered and Sam took a deep breath in before continuing.
"Does anyone of you have any idea as to how I can make them dis-associate? I need anything even if it's a weak point." Sam stated and there was some rustling in the background before the voice of the leader of the guards came up.
"The three elders has children and they happen to be somewhere nearby. You could use them, but I don't know what way it would be." The man suggested and that was all Sam needed.
'Thank you very much. I think I got the idea but hold on, how do I identify the kids?" Sam questioned and there was some clicking of buttons before the leader of the guards answered.
"Look right around the corner. The three of them are together, the two girls belong to two of the Elders at each side and the boy belongs to the one in the middle." The man answered and then Sam's brain recollected.
"Wait a minute, can you see me with this chip?" Sam asked looking around.
"There's a lot of things it can do buddy, but right now catch your prey."
