Chapter 151
Drake.
Sarah is doing amazing, she’s holding it for a lot longer than anyone thought that she could, but I had complete faith in her. I knew she would come through for us. She always does.
I look around, the chaos of it all thrilling to me, it’s amazing to see the enemy suffering for once, we have suffered enough, now it is their turn. It’s their turn to feel the pain of loss, it’s their turn to lose everything, and I’ll Mae sure they do. I will make sure that they never come back, after today, they’ll know not to mess with our pack, or our Alpha Queen.
Men are falling to their knees from the sheer force of the tremors Sarah is creating. They can’t hold their bodies of their feet, it’s impossible, and as they squirm on the ground, my men are moving in to finish them off.
It’s working.
It’s actually fucking working, all thanks to my mate.
If she can hold it just a little longer the tide will turn for our benefit, we will win.
She just needs to hold out a little bit more.
I have all the faith in the world for my mates I know that she can do this. I know that she can help us win.
I hear a familiar yelp in the crowd and my heart stops, I look around, frantically searching, and I find him several feet away, surrounded by around ten wolves, all of them looking to take a piece out of him.
My brother is a great fighter, but ten is a bit much, even for me. He needs help. And he needs it now.
I push forward through the crowd, keeping my eyes on him the entire time, he’s holding his ground, keeping them at bay. But he can’t take them out, he’s on defence, he won’t attack unless he needs to.
“I’m coming.” I send to him through our link, “just hold on I’m coming.”
He turns his head for a split second, and the black eyes of his wolf meet my own, he is my twin in every way you can see, but he is my brother in every way that matters.
We argue, we fight, we disagree with each other, but our bond is strong. It always has been.
Just a little further, a few more steps.
I search for Sarah in the crowd whilst keeping a close eye on Dylan, if this goes south, I’ll need her. We both will.
I find her, but she has her own problems, her and the men defending her are surrounded, the second wave of wolves have come, and they are showing no mercy. They are going straight for her.
She needs me, she needs my help, but right now Dylan needs it more.
“I can’t keep this up.” Dylan says, sending me his pain along with his voice.
He’s injured, I can feel it in my bones. But I’m almost there, he just needs to hold them backs while longer.
I shout at a few warriors, telling them to follow me, I’m going to need them to distract the enemy whilst I get Dylan to safety so he can heal his wounds.
They trail behind me, running to keep up with my wolf, but I don’t care, my eyes are on my brother, and I see it, I see the moment that he loses his balance.
Dylan tumbles to the ground, howling in pain as one of the wolves' clasps onto his hind leg, biting deep and fast. Fuck, this is bad. Really fucking bad.
The other wolves surround him, and I lose my line of sight, but I’m almost there.
I shove people out of the way, not caring whether they are my men or the enemy, and within seconds I’m pulling the bastards off my brother, sending them sprawling into the crowd of people.
Dylan is face down in the mud, bleeding from several different places, including his chest. I need to get him out of here. I need to get him to Sarah before he bleeds out. She can heal severe wounds, but she can’t bring people back from the dead. That’s a hard line she can’t cross, even if she wanted to.
I shift back into my human form and pick up my brother, “move now.” I say to my men. “We have to get him to our Luna Queen.”
They all nod, making a path for me in the crowd. They’ll escort me back. They’ll make sure I get there without any problems, but Dylan could still die if we aren’t quick enough.
I look down at him, panic stricken and heart pounding in my ears, I want to tell him that it’ll be ok, but he’s already lost consciousness from the blood loss. I’m losing him.
Fuck, this can’t be happening.
I won’t let him die.
“Sarah.” I scream through mind-link, desperation coating my voice, “Dylan is wounded. It’s bad.”
I hear Sarah take in a shaky breath, and I feel her worry though our bond. “Where are you?” She responds quickly, and I see her eyes flickering with her wolf from where I am.
“I’m in the crowd.” I reply. “Coming in hot, be ready, he’s in bad shape.”
Sarah says nothing else, but I feel her probing the bond between us all, feeling for Dylan, but she can’t find his bond, and neither can I.
We are losing him.
I’m running as fast as my legs can carry me, my brother limp in my arms, I’m sweating with anxiety and I can’t stop the sob that rips through my chest.
I stumble, but I miraculously manage to stay on my feet, thank the goddess above. Just a little further. That’s all, I just need to run a little further and everything will be ok.
Dylan is heavy, and it’s making me slow, but I don’t stop, not even when my arms scream at me and my legs tremble from the strain.
Jeremy appears in my view, grabbing half of Dylan’s body and lifting it before nodding at me to keep going. He’s come to help, he’s come to make sure I get to Sarah.
Sarah catches me as I drop to my knees in front of her, she also catches Dylan, I never knew she was so strong. But my mate has always been full of surprises.
She looks him over, her expression grim. “I can do it.” She eventually says, her hands glowing. “He’s weak. But there is a pulse.”
I nod, feeling far away, as though I’m watching from somewhere above my body.
“Don’t die brother.” My chest tightens and my voice breaks. “Don’t you dare die.”
Sarah looks up at me, but her hands don’t stop glowing. “He won’t die.” She says with a finality that gives me hope. “I won’t let him die.”
Howl echo behind me and I turn, around thirty wolves are running straight for us, they know Dylan is dying and they want to make sure Sarah can’t save him.
They’re coming to destroy us before we can regroup.
Warriors surround us, and I slowly stand.
If they want a war, they just got one.
